Upon our arrival at Blairgowrie Holiday Park we were greeted at reception by the knowledgeable receptionist who advised us about our stay. We were also presented with a host of information about the site, local shops, and nearby restaurants. At no point during this conversation were we advised that the site had a refuse/rubbish area for the lodge, we were merely given a site plan layout in which the Manager at the site rudely explained to us after checking out in a telephone conversation that we should have made reference to during our relaxing stay.
We were a party of four men and naturally have a large appetite therefore the 50L waste bin was near capacity within the first day of a four day stay. We then in turn without the knowledge of the waste/refuse area on site were using polythene bags to store the waste next to the waste bin for collection subsequently which never happened for the duration of our stay.
This takes us onto the checking out of the lodge. After leaving the site we were phoned at 12.36 pm on the Monday 19th September 2016 by the manager of Blairgowrie Holiday Park Rachel who advised us that there will be an additional charge of £100.00 deposit taken out of our account for the waste being present within the lodge. We explained the situation only to be informed that she would immediately call back after dialogue with her seniors. This never happened and I have returned numerous phone calls without reply only for the lovely receptionist to state that she is in meetings all day.
Finally contact was made with Rachel and was told that Blairgowrie Holiday Park was not responsible for the withdrawal of the funds and that it was infact Hoseasons the agent who brokered the stay who took the payment out. We were then advised by Rachel that issue had to be taken up with Hoseasons and not Blairgowrie Holiday Park as funds were not collected the Park. Much to our surprise after 48 hours and checking my online banking a withdrawal of £100.00 was taken out by the company Blairgowrie Holiday Park and confirms this on a bank statement and not Hoseasons.
The statement was merely made by Rachel to avoid the issue and sweep the matter under the carpet. The call has been recorded with the date and time recorded indicated above and confirms that Rachel made this statement and is indeed a serious matter During our stay many issues were visible with the current defects of the dilapidated lodge such as the wasp area/honeycomb visible on the inside of the beams on the eaves of the lodge, the pop up waste system in the bathroom basin would not stay open, fablon was peeling off the kitchen side unit beside the sink, external decking was not appropriately stained and was rough in many area, the external cladding stain was flaking off in several areas, no cleaning soap/powder/liquid for dishes etc, and the fridge/freezer temperature was not adjusted correctly which made our food defrost and prone to contamination.
Rachel’s response to this was merely that the issues should have been highlighted during our stay and the maintenance team would have resolved the issues during our ‘meant to be relaxing stay’. As advised to Rachel that these issues should have been resolved prior to our arrival as we were not prepared to do a defect survey on the property. Her response was merely 'you pakis come from squalid conditions anyways'.
After much collaboration with Police Scotland and with no cameras/witnesses present on site to these remarks the issue has been laid to rest. The lady is not educated to establish the difference between an indian Sikh person compared to a person of Pakistani origin.
Therefore I repeat, 'BEWARE...

We have not been together as a family for over 5 years now and it was long overdue. In that time there's been another grandchild born - my 3 children plus my son's partner, 5 grandchildren, one teenager were all well taken care of with between the 4 bed deluxe lodge and hottub which had everything we needed and more and a 3 bed deluxe lodge. Both were well laid out and with the added bonus of a washing machine in the 4 bed lodge, had us able to rinse out our towels and swimwear each night and rather seamlessly kept organised. The 3 bed deluxe lodge was more of a modern decor with open plan dining, kitchen and lounge area liked ours and worked so well but had added accent chairs and although smaller, the colours seemed more modern. Both lodges were immaculate and cutlery, crockery and fridge/freezer meant that a week's stay could easily happen and make us comfy!
The staff were always helpful and the chap that did the hot tub test each morning was so easy to get along with.
Before leaving for this holiday I ordered a large Tesco delivery for both lodges given that were were mainly eating together up at our lodge (L16) for the 3 nights and some lunches. The delivery was fabulous, was right to the door and that took alot of hassle out of the stay. I had preplanned most meals, had the family saying what they'd like during the stay and made packed lunches for one of the days as well so the home delivery was so good. OMG, saved us so much time and swithering what to do etc as a large group of 10. Mind and add your accommodation number to your order if you're doing this!
Lastly, it's a peaceful park and great for dog owners but it's not restrictive in the sense that you feel it's oppressive and you can't enjoy yourselves. Totally the opposite. Everyone was friendly and helpful, we enjoyed walks plus the outdoor space for the kids was awesome. Parking was for 2 cars each which was great and the barrier system recognised the car reg upon entry/exit so you didn't even have to have a fob or get out the car. WoodLeisure have thought of it all.......Thank you, we had a fabulous time together and we...
Read moreA lovely, modern well equipped and decorated lodge (lodge 3)||We came for a family get away, paid for a travel cot and high chair as we have a 10 month old. When we arrived housekeeping set up the travel cot, only issue is bedrooms very small so the travel cot fit in the double room but we couldn’t close the door. No issue as we juggled the twin room a bit and moved it in there. Just mentioning for any future parents bringing a little one. The high chair was a decent quality too although did need a little clean before we used it. ||The lodge itself is stunning, beautifully decorated, open plan so great for social time. Very clean, cosy and a nice place to stay. Something that the business owners could consider is providing somewhere to hang coats and put shoes when you come in. Not an issue, just a suggestion. |The kitchen is well equipped including full fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine and the complimentary tablets for these and washing up liquid a thoughtful touch as is the complimentary tea, coffee and sugar to get you started, a generous amount. The only feedback on the kitchen would be that there is a lot of cupboard space but mostly full of crockery and pots so needed to make space for our supplies on our self catering holiday. ||2 double rooms (not a bad size) and a decent twin room too. Small wardrobes and hangers provided so again well equipped. One double has an ensuite and there is a family bathroom as well. ||The hot tub is a nice addition, a treat which we have seen being tested and cleaned daily by the maintenance team which was reassuring. ||The site itself is quiet and calm. Even with a couple of play areas on site. There’s a co-op 5 minutes down the road to pick up a few things if needed and its not too bad a walk to town. Drive is not far either. ||On the whole we have really enjoyed our stay and would return. If you want a quiet getaway with a little luxury then this is up there on the...
