We stayed here at Bowness bay suites in the Hilltop suite. This is situated on the top floor so you have to go up 3 small flights of stairs. We picked this suite specifically for the views as you have a view of Bowness lakeside and Windermere lake and the Bellsfield hotel gardens from the French windows in the lounge, then you have a view of a quiet road with a pub and cottages from the bedroom window. |This suite is open planned, cosy, warm and roomy. I loved the baroque style decor in the bedroom with a full length mirror a huge bed with gorgeous bedding. Bathroom has a towel rail that you switch on from just outside the bathroom door and underfloor heating, a bath with overhead shower. |The lounge was comfy. Sofa was a bit too low for me but was cute and comfy. |There is a small fridge which we stocked up our drinks and snacks. A kettle with a generous supply of milk, tea etc is provided. We didn’t opt for the breakfast as we planned on having a lazy lie-in so we can’t give an opinion on that. |We were given a very friendly and warm welcome by the two gentlemen that run Bowness bay suites. |This hidden gem is tucked just up the hillside behind the village Inn pub and is literally a 1 minute walk to the lakeside and shops.|Would we stay here again? Absolutely!|We found this place on a 3rd party booking site but if you’re a savvy shopper then book direct through their private website as I saved myself...
Read moreThank you to Howie who made the booking process easy. We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived even though it was late. Martin was very helpful with any questions we needed to ask. The hallway was beautifully decorated with plenty of leaflets on places to visit. We stayed in the langdale suite which was beautifully decorated with attention to detail. There was milk in the fridge with tea, coffee and biscuits waiting for us. The suite and bathroom was clean and tidy. There was a sofa, coffee table and TV at one end of the room with another TV near the bed. I liked that we had a separate area to sit in the suite. There was a safe with an iron and ironing board which was handy to have. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The only one thing that would've be handy was to have another hand towel for us ladies with long hair. But having said that I wouldn't change a thing.|Bowness is a lovely picturesque place to stay with plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants all within a few minutes walk.|Thank you to Howie and Martin for alllowing us to stay and making us feel welcome.|We would lovely to visit bowness some day and would highly recommend...
Read moreIs this a racist hotel? Due to some schedule problems, I could not arrive at the hotel very early, but I drove as fast as possible on the way from Edinburgh. Most importantly, I called the hotel twice in advance, explaining that I would arrive at 11:30 to check in, and the hotel said that he would wait for my arrival. However, when I arrived at 11:30, the landlord came out and scolded us and told us that the reservation had been canceled, and his attitude was very, very bad. There were two middle-aged men in total, their expressions were very fierce, and they treated us with a very bad attitude after the trip. As a young girl, it was difficult not to be afraid when facing such a scene in a foreign country. As the hotel did not inform us of the cancellation in advance, and only on short notice after we arrived, where the humanitarian was, it was hard not to suspect that they were racist towards us. The last-minute cancellation left me with nowhere to go for a night in Windermere, and I really don't recommend booking this hotel unless you want a scary, racist experience...
