Calne Bed & Breakfast — Hotel in Great Britain

My partner booked this 'hotel' listed on booking.com for a friend who was staying for the bank holiday, as we didn't have any more room for guests and other local hotels were very expensive with it being the jubilee. The host should be putting in her description that she has a dog as our friend is allergic (host was very dismissive of this - "are you actually allergic or do you just not like dogs?"). The bedding had either not been washed or the dog had been allowed to sleep on it after washing as there were lots of white hairs on it and our friend was having an allergic reaction all night. The host had the audacity to comment on the sneezing waking her up!! The host also tried to set a curfew for returning to the property; this should also be listed in the property description so that people know what they are paying for.

I'm sure the lady is lovely but there needs to be more clarity regarding her expectations on the property description. We wouldn't book again for any of our friends and would rather pay more to put them in an actual hotel. This would be better suited to a listing on airbnb. It's fine for the host to have rules and expectations, and obviously fine to have a pet, but this all needs to be made completely clear at the point of...

In my view an excellent place to stay. Gwyneth the landlady is very friendly and helpful, her dog, is extremely well behaved. The breakfast is very good, local eggs have yolks that are orange, not the pale yellow you get from supermarkets. Tea and coffee in the rooms, milk is fresh not the UHT stuff you get in bigger B&B's. Very clean, no problems parking, Tesco Extra only 10 mins walk away. All-in-all a very good...
