UNTRAINED SECURITY & RACIST BAR MANAGEMENT (JESSICA COLLINS)
We’ve just got back from a week in Littlesea, we got there on the 17th June, beautiful location and had really enjoyed ourself until the Wednesday evening. All week we had been allowed in to the show bar with our own alcohol, (had we had known we wasn’t aloud, we wouldn’t of brought it in from the start) but security guards aloud it from day one. We went to the bingo each evening and my partner, my sister, mother & myself all enjoyed a couple of drinks then enjoyed some of the entertainment for the kids. The security watched us walk in and out with cans of beer in our hands from the Monday we got there and said nothing so we assumed it was all ok. On the Wednesday evening, after again being aloud in with our own alcohol. The bar manager Jessica Collins approached us, very abruptly and said we are not aloud our own alcohol and reached across the table and snatched the beer can out of my partners hand. I turned to her and said do not snatch as we are more than happy to leave if this is the rules, but explained how all of her staff had aloud it all week. My partner (he is of Indian nationality) tried to basically explain the same thing to her as he didn’t really understand why it had been aloud, he tried to explain that that evening in particular he walked in with a beer in his hand and the security guard stamped the same hand and let him in. Jessica frowned at him in the most disgusting way, looked up at me and said “I don’t understand him” which is so extremely disgusting and borderline racist given English is not his first language, and instead of saying “I’m sorry I can’t hear what you mean or can we talk in a more appropriate place so I can hear and understand you better” instead of any professional mannerisms whatever so ever, just simply turned to me with a screwed up face towards my partner and said “I don’t understand him”
We left the premises and the following day went to reception to file a complaint about this. I then received a phone call from the food and beverage manager, who pretty much outright defended Jessica, adamantly saying how she “just isn’t racist” I simply explained to him that he is in no position to make that judgement, when one he wasn’t there to see how it was said and how it so rudely came across, and two if you have never been a victim of an racial attack yourself. I felt very much like he just didn’t listen to anything I was saying, completely disregarded my partners feelings, how uncomfortable he was made to feel, how embarrassed he was made to feel by Jessica. Instead of turning to him, she turned to someone else and said she didn’t undertsand him, if you are of a different nationality, and this was done to you if English was not your first language, can you begin to understand how belittling this would come across? How embarrassing this would come across? How patronising? I was told that racism is not tolerated on the park, but it has been, the only difference is actually it’s overlooked, and very much tolerated because the staff then defend one another and try to be factual about someone not being racist when they have never been in that position themselves before.
I’m beyond disgusted by our experience at Littlesea, and will definitely not be returning.
SINCE THIS COMPLAINT UPDATE
I have continually phoned, emailed, asked for a response and I have received nothing back. Each time I am told someone will get back to me, yet they never do. It’s extremely disgusting really considering how long ago I made this complaint, and havens policy clearly states 21 days for a response, I’m not 2 months on and still being ignored. The guy I had originally spoke to the first few days after the complaint told me someone would contact me regarding a refund, and yet no one ever has, no update from the complaint, no apology. No nothing. He was absolutely right in saying racism does not happen at the park, and why? Because they simply IGNORE it. Ignore the complaints regarding racism, I’m...
Read morePretty shocking to be honest. Certainly won't be returning or booking another Haven holiday. We go on two to four caravan holidays a year but this was our first and last stay with Haven. The cost of the holiday for 2 nights was more than we usually pay for 4/5 nights elsewhere but we figured we'd get more for the money. We were wrong, the pool cost was extortionate, all the activities, the evening entertainment and even the PARK were all added costs (and high added costs!!!). We arrived late Friday evening intending to put the kids straight to bed after the drive but found no toilet paper on arrival. Messaged the customer care team who were closed as it was so late, not a problem..contacted the security team as directed and was told they'd bring a toilet roll round as soon as they could. Later received a follow up message that they'd been informed that Haven don't provide toilet paper so we'd need to go to the 24 Asda in Weymouth (it's not 24 but luckily we got there 15 minutes before it closed). In the morning received a message from customer care apologising and stating that they should have bought some down (I've never arrived to any holiday and not had at least one toilet roll there for arrival). We had booked for 3 kids and 2 adults but only 2 kids beds had been made. 3 duvets had holes in (a significant danger with children) and 3 duvet covers did not fit the duvets leaving a foot of duvet hanging out the bottom and unable to do up the duvet cover (another significant danger with young children) and even the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. We went to the bay for all of 5 minutes and watched several other families turn up, look around disappointed and leave again. All the advertising led us to believe there was a beautiful sandy bay...it is not. My kids said "it smells like a toilet" "why is it so gross" "where's the beach" "this is disgusting" "can we go to a proper beach" and other children who turned up and promptly left shared their opinion with exclamations like "this is minging, what is that?!" "Eww this is rank" "Mum what even is that stuff" "I'm not going on that" "This place stinks!" Massively disappointed, 100% false advertising. Even under what appears to be a couple years worth of grass clippings there's no sand. The shop had no sun cream or aftersun except one bottle of factor 15 which seemed a bit useless. And you're not allowed visitors on site so with the lack of usable facilities we spent our weekend in Weymouth and will next time just book a holiday there to save driving in and out. On leaving as we were stripping the beds we found several stains, absolutely no waterproof covers on any bed, duvet or pillow and more holes in the bed linen. I've never been more disappointed, we were hoping for something really special for such a high price but what we received was nowhere close to hitting the bar and left us all very deflated and the kids asking to go back to our...
Read moreLocation once inside, and on the actual site. It is fabulous. The road in through an industrial estate is just waiting for accidents to happen. Be careful ! I chose Littlesea for it's proximity to Chesil Beach. I intended to walk the entire length of this beach, without any breaks from it due to obstacles, like cliff collapse or landslides. Littlesea has all the facilities you need to prepare for such a mammoth walk. The accommodation is excellent. The maintenance is clearly class leading. An on-site shop for groceries and a clubhouse for a relaxing drink at the end of your day. If you intend to walk Chesil Beach, using Littlesea as your base. It's a wise decision. Go as a group to lower your costs by sharing. See reviews of Chesil beach for more information. I was happy with the pricing of my four night stay. It's my second visit in six years. It's not my last. I brought family. A niece and her three children, aged 1, 4 and 15. They had a great time and would love to visit again to go and do more sightseeing. The childrens parks were just right and clean and safe. The whole site is peaceful and quiet. A good night's sleep assured.
Update 17/10/25
In order to convince people who like long distance walking to consider walking the entire length of Chesil Beach, I visited Littlesea Caravan Park again, just to do this walk. Littlesea is perfectly placed, has all the amenities you could wish for, especially a hot shower from the very well maintained onsite showers. There is also a bus route to West Bay, X53, just at the end of Lynch Lane. I came alone, so only needed two nights camping in a tent. I've walked the beach three times now and want more adventurous walkers to do it too. Well I can say with certainty that Littlesea is just perfect. I was able to start my day early, catch the bus to West Bay 06:53 and be there an hour before low tide. At low tide you can walk for six miles on hard sand by the sea shore. So it's relatively easy up to Abbotsbury, were you can get refreshments from the "pricey"car park cafe at the side of Chesil Beach. I bought my snacks and drinks from Littlesea onsite shop. To cut this review short I have added some more photos and a Garmin proof of the walk and time it took. At the end of the walk, Fortuneswell, you can walk to Littlesea via the Coastal Path or get the number one bus from Fortuneswell and ride it for a couple of miles and then join the Coastal Path that will bring you right inside Littsea Caravan Park. Or if you are too tired, get a prearranged lift of someone or a taxi. It's a fantastic walk that you will hopefully rave on about for years. It's hard and not for unfit walkers. So now I have proven that Littlesea is the best base to plan the walk from, I hope many give it a go. You could always quit at Abbotsbury and catch the X53 bus back to Lynch Lane industrial estate and return to Littlesea. Best tip is to have at least 11 hours daylight for...
