Having grown up and lived in Weymouth most of my life, The Marquis of Granby has been a regular place to go for family meals and good drinks. It was known for many years as the Swiss cottage, until the name changed in the 90s, since then it has gone from strength to strength and has changed owners many times. I honestly think the current owner should be really very proud of the Pub they now run, because having had its newest refurbishment, it has gained so much of the character I remember growing up with, and more! If you are looking for a friendly, clean well run establishment to spend an hour or two look no further! The drinks and food are great, the staff, fantastic! and the atmosphere is welcoming, fresh and modern but still manages to keep its rustic seaside charm. If you are looking for somewhere to have a family meal or spend an afternoon or evening with a good drink at a reasonable price then I highly recommend a stop at the marquis of Granby! Access and parking are no problem, it's within walking distance of Haven Littlesea holiday park, and the local number 8 chickerell bus and x53 Axminster bus route from town goes directly past it. I personally love nothing better than stopping in on a Friday afternoon when I have an early finish, to have a pint and a bite to eat an have a chat with the friendly staff and locals, or bringing the family along for a Sunday roast! Wishing the current owners all the very best for the future because they have really done Weymouth proud with how much hard work and effort they put in! Will see you all again very soon, best regards from Jason!

Following our visit to Weymouth..on our way home, decided to call into a local pub for a carvery. There was 4 of us, including one child (who is autistic) We were welcomed and accommodated immediately. 2 of us wanted a carvery and 1 adult chose from the menu a Homity pie and the child had chicken Gourjon, and swapped the chips for mash potato. As the carvery was on the servery, staff informed us when the other menu choices were being plated up, so we could eat together at the same time. Friendly staff, friendly atmosphere. Food was lovely! And very good value too. Even with our autistic child, who decided to play with his toys won (from the 2p coin drop machines in Weymouth) and play with his food, we weren't made to feel unwelcome. Found the whole experience relaxing..so thankyou 🙏 If we are in the area, we will visit again. Highly recommend!

It's fine, just fine. On the up side, the server we had was very friendly and quick to grab our drinks. A very tidy and friendly place to be in, and unlike a lot of pubs it understands the appropriate volume to have music where you can hear it but still able to have a conversation. On the other hand my food was rather bland. £23 for an 8oz steak that tasted as if it had no seasoning, and chips with little flavour is quite disappointing. Sadly the fudge cake was also just fine. Maybe I just had bad luck when it came to my order, but it was nothing special.

If I could have given a minus even then it would have not have been justified enough for the meal, sorry slop we was served yesterday (21st November) at lunchtime. being a Sunday they have two sittings 12.00 pm and 2.00 pm. It was obvious when we first walked in that there was roughly twice the amount of table and chairs in the restaurant than was comfortable. I assume around 100 persons in an area that was not suited for that amount. There was no space to move around any of the tables, this then leads you to believe that they (the restaurant) is only interested in cramming as many people in as possible to get maximum money! My wife ordered the Scampi, I ordered the meat pie & my daughter and grandson ordered the carvery which supposedly was Gammon or Beef or both. When the meals arrived my wife Scampi was raw, not cooked at all as when she bit into it it was slimy, it came with salad and chips. When she told the waitress, she apologized and took it away. When it came back it was with peas not salad and even then when she picked up a Scampi piece it was empty so was some of the others she tried to eat, this was the cheapest Scampi money could buy! my meat pie was okay but the meat was very bland to the taste. My daughters and grandsons carvery meat was wafer this, both the beef and gammon and when my grandson tried to eat some of the small amount of wafer thin beef it was all stringy and he spat the majority of it onto his plate. It was obviously a case of ramming in as many people as possible to get the most profit and there was no care for supplying a decent meal. I or my family will ever eat there again and we live in the area. I would advise strongly that you give this money grabbing excuse for a restaurant a wide berth if you want a...

Absolutely fantastic place to eat! Came across this pub whilst staying in the area and was wanting a meal, from entry to exit the staff were very welcoming and attentive, arrived around 6pm,hadn't booked but wasn't too busy so was shown to a table, ordered drinks, food order taken when WE was ready which was after our first drink as we wasn't in a hurry to order straight away. The menu has a good selection of meals to choose from and a specials board with another 4 choices on it on this visit, having ordered the smoked haddock on bubble n squeak mash topped with a poached egg and a mustard sauce,it arrived and visually looked really very good and tasted even better, it was fantastic I hadn't expected such a quality meal..my table also ordered a mixed grill which was large and cooked as requested and the ham hock which was also enjoyed and VERY large, too large to finish, you won't leave here hungry, will definitely be back when next in the area and highly recommend for quality of food, service, cleanliness and value, thank you marquis see you...
