The room itself was not cleaned properly. The shower curtain was covered in a spatter of dark brown droplets, and there were hairs on the bedding and in the drawers. When I checked in, the door to the room was ajar and the lights were on, I'm not sure what that was about. The heating also repeatedly came on randomly in the early hours of the morning, and I was woken up when the temperature reached about 27 degrees.
The restaurant, the Weather Vane, was not good. It would be fundamentally awful were the quality of the food anything other than decent. One waitress was physically sat at a customer's table engaged in conversation for about half an hour, and that same waitress was later so caught up in chatting to another customer that she forgot pouring the beer I had ordered, causing it to overflow. This went on until a different, very attentive and absolutely wonderful waitress looked very embarrassed and got the pint for me, apologising for her colleague.
I was sat with a couple of other people in a largely empty restaurant, but it took about fifteen minutes for someone to come to our table. When they did, they forgot my room rate included the dinner, and almost billed me - more on that later. After we ordered, it took nearly an hour for our food to arrive, and there was no acknowledgement whatsoever of the time we had spent waiting. The food itself was perfectly cooked and well-presented, although this excludes the potato dippers, which were simply ordinary chips covered in a tarpaulin of flavourless cheese, congealed into a solid mass that no amount of cutting could truly separate.
About the bill. When I went to the bar to find out whether I had to pay or not, all three of the wait staff collaborated at the pay point. I was made quite uncomfortable when one waitress was quite abrupt and verging on rude with the other when she asked a simple procedural question. Eventually, one waitress shrugged and said "don't worry, you won't...
Read moreI don't like leaving middling reviews, I'd rather just leave it, but I felt a little misled with what I read before booking, so I want to share our experience - maybe it was just the room we were given. Let me start with the positives: the price was very good for this stay. The staff at reception were all really nice, friendly and helpful and did their best to accommodate us, including early check-in and trying to help fix things. Nice to have the restaurant next door, that was good, and so is the location, a short walk to Bracknell town centre. No smell of weed during our stay and we felt safe, so plenty of positives. Beyond that though, I'm sorry to say the room was dusty and smelled dank and musty, the sheets had hairs on and things felt dirty, the bedside furniture was chipped or broken and everything just felt a bit old and in need of attention. There was also part of an old couch or something under the bed. I would not call this a 3 star hotel, more like 2 star. The room and amenities were pretty bare bones, no safe, tissues, conditioner etc. The sheet provided for the travel cot was not clean and we had to ask for another. We also asked for the room to be cleaned once in the 3 nights we stayed and it wasn't. Again, staff on reception were great and did what they could, for that it gets 3/5 stars for a review, but I wouldn't call this a...
Read moreWe arrived as a party of six to visit Legoland over the weekend |The reception was staffed by a really friendly guy, who was quick and efficient, taking the tim to make sure we had everything we needed and booked our meal plan |We settled into the room which was plenty big enough and if the same standard you expect at Premier Inn, it had all that we needed and was spotless and in good order |We didn’t fancy heading out as we had had a long journey and although not always brilliant for dinner, the restaurants are very convenient |This premier inn restaurant definitely bucks the trend. We were greeted by Caroline, who from the start made a great impression, she attentive but not overbearing. Our order was taken quickly and efficiently. The menu was quite good|We didn’t have to wait long and the food arrived and much to my surprise and delight, the food was really very good, all well cooked but what stood out was the attention to detail, the extra touches that showed someone with talent had prepared the meal, not just thrown it together like at many pub type venues |Caroline was exceptional, probably the best and most attentive table service we have had in a very long time. I said to Caroline that what she had provided for us, was table service...
