Overpriced food and small portions
Came here with partner, friend and niece and had high expectations based on the food we saw on the menu. We ordered our food and only had mains with sides of chips but we were not impressed with the portion sizes as we felt that the food we had paid for was overpriced. Even though the portions were small the food was good but we were thankful that we had ordered sides of chips otherwise we would’ve left the restaurant hungry. We decided not to have desert here based on the pricing and portion sizes from the main menu and went for desert elsewhere.
Where we were sat was right next to the serving station where they use the machine to put in orders and get the bills as well as provide glasses for tables. The problem with the position of the glasses was that they were stacked on a tray and the way they were stacked meant that they could’ve easily toppled over and hurt my niece had any of the serving staff not picked up the glass correctly or if it would’ve slipped out of one of their hands. Unfortunately with the position of these glasses it also meant the waiting staff were constantly leaning their hands over my niece which wasn’t great especially since there shouldn’t be such unnecessary close contact with customers and it should be kept as minimal as possible with the only contact being to give customers their drink and food orders. Due to the positioning of the glasses several glasses got broken when the serving team were stacking them, luckily my niece wasn’t at the table at the time as I had taken her to the bathroom but if she had of been at the table then this could’ve been a serious issue.
The ladies bathrooms were not very clean. The first bathroom nearest the door was disgusting and I took my niece straight out of it. The third toilet was slightly cleaner but wasn’t great. The toilets definitely need to be checked and cleaned...
Read moreWe chose to book The Real Greek for a date night after reminiscing about our recent holiday in Crete. It was the perfect choice! From the moment we arrived, the blonde lady at the door was very welcoming and got us seated very quickly, and she gave us golden menus(!) Thank you! Our server Rohan also made us feel so welcome, friendly and attentive throughout the evening.
He explained about the golden menus, we were lucky enough to be selected for their Golden Menu experience, which meant we each got the Filoxenia Menu on the house! The menu included cold meze with flatbread, a souvlaki grill with salad or side.
To start, we had houmous and tzatziki, both delicious, with the tzatziki packed full of garlicky flavour (in the best way!). We went with the chicken and lamb souvlaki, perfectly grilled and full of flavour. We chose the chickpea salad which was fresh with loads of dill, and chips which were perfectly crispy.
We couldn't resist adding on the spinach pie and octopus, both were fantastic, but the octopus really stood out, beautifully cooked, tender and full of flavour.
By the end of the meal, we were so full, but also tempted by desert...we asked for the baklava to takeaway. We enjoyed it later, it was sweet, buttery, and packed with delicious roasted nuts. A perfect treat to end the night.
We sipped on grilled lemon gin and tonics throughout, refreshing and surprisingly strong, they paired really well with our food.
All in all, it was a fantastic evening, great food, great drinks, and top-notch service. Thank you, Rohan and The...
Read moreI have had such great food at this restaurant before I wanted to show it to my partner. On walking in to the restaurant we were not informed that they were low on staff and that they could only manage existing bookings. We were told you had to have a booking and they were not accepting walk-ins, in my mind that kind of tells me they are fully booked maybe, so I went on line to make a reservation for later or the next day at lunch and found that there were reservations for 15 mins time, so I booked one. On return 15 mins later with my booking, the waitress who we had spoken to previously stormed across the restaurant towards us and basically accosted us with her cross words. Now explaining that she could see that we now had a booking but that they had NO staff and the wait for food would be a very long time. We were in shock- I can think of so many ways that this could have been better handled. I can understand the pressure hospitality are under during half term completely. But I didn't feel like I have done anything wrong and didn't deserve to be spoken to like that. We walked out. I have never come across a waitress who is so so angry. Honestly someone take this women aside and give her a hug. If that is how she feels she needs to talk to people something is wrong with the way the restaurant is being run and the way the staff are treated. Unfortunately I doubt I will return to this branch....
