Stayed here for 3 nights arriving on 10th April. We had 2 rooms booked for our party and both rooms were on the ground floor. As soon as you entered both rooms you were greeted with a strong smell of damp. Premier Inns seem to be introducing non opening windows. We asked if we could move to a higher floor but were told they were full. The gentleman on reception said he could put airfreshners in the room and a fan to help with the smell. We declined the air fresheners, as they can be overpowering, but accepted the fans. On using the hand towel in the bathroom we found it had what looked like blood on a large part of one side. The gentleman apologised and replaced it immediately. The bedroom chair was badly stained as was the day bed, things which, with a bit of cleaning, could be easily remidied. The soap dispenser was rusty too. It appears that this damp smell is a known problem in this hotel. There was no expel air in the bathroom so that didn't help, along with being unable to open the windows. Not a pleasant stay at all! The next morning we went for breakfast to find there was no bread, no coffee, a wait for eggs, no muesli, no frozen fruits, limited supply of yoghurt. Many of the guests were unhappy and there only appeared to be one lady serving. She very kindly got more muesli and frozen fruits. The following 2 days were much better for breakfast and there appeared to be more staff on. Overall we were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel - the damp...
Read moreWe spent 6 nights at the Premier Inn at Helston and loved it. A lovely clean modern room overlooking the countryside and the perfect location to explore from Falmouth to Lands End. The Inn is located a stones throw from the start of the Lizard Penninsula, which has an abundance of beautiful coves to explore., many featured in the Poldark series. The staff at the Premier Inn were excellent, at all times, being very polite and helpful. We enjoyed our stay that much that we have already booked a further six nights for later in the year, to explore further the spectacular Cornish coast. We did not eat in The May Tree pub that is located next to the Premier Inn, as we found superb places to eat in the town centre of Helston, which is a 15 minute stroll away and much more to our liking, which came with recommendation and were excellent and very reasonable to. The room that we had overlooked the countryside and had a distant view of the satellite dishes of Goonhilly Down, overall, we found this Premier Inn to be perfect for our requirements, it was peaceful, located perfectly, close to town but felt like we were in the countryside with perfect access to the roads to Falmouth, Truro, Lizard, St Michaels Mount, Penzance and all places to Lands End, it is also about 40 minutes from St Ives, on the other coast, best accessed by parking in Penzance and getting the train, as parking in St Ives is horrendous and the train journey...
Read moreThe hotel is situated in a nice area. Plenty of car parking available and a nice enough pub next door which is the only thing really walkable from from the hotel as it is on the outskirts of the town and there is little to no phone signal there.
We stayed in room 19, oh dear... the room seemed to smell odd as soon as we got in there. The problem was the bathroom. The grout in the tiles was full of black mould as you can see in the picture. The floor in the bathroom felt like it was rotten and was going to fall through. The furniture seemed tired and the room had the general feel of not been kept properly.
Of course we complained but the hotel was fully booked so we couldn't be moved and being the last week in August so was everywhere else so we were stuck. They said they would send somebody while we were out the next day to clean it but that didn't happen. Luckily we were only staying 2 nights so we spent as little time as possible in the room and didn't unpack anything. It seems strange that in these Covid times when things should be cleaned more thoroughly that this can happen.
My wife has complained through the proper channels but as yet we still haven't heard anything.
Overall a very depressing stay in a hotel where you usually know what you...
