I initaly booked this location as I used to stay at the caravan site down the road when I went to weymoouth yearly with familly. I was initialy going to book fossils for the week however someone got in before me so I booked a few nights in Chesilhay, one night at the local premier inn and the last two nights at fossils.
The location is excellent, with easy access to Weymouth on the Number 8 buss or a 3h walk (about 25k steps) along the south coast path. There is also an aldi up the road. Both flats have smart TVs that you can log into your own streaming services.
Chesilhay: Chesilhay was spotless and well-maintained. It has a modern décor that’s stylish even if it’s not quite my usual taste. The bed is spacious and very comfortable, especially for a solo traveller. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the utensils and cookware you’d need for self-catering. The en-suite bathroom is modern and the shower gets lovely and hot.
Fossils Reach: Fossils Reach felt a bit more cosy and homely. The bedroom and bed are smaller than in Chesilhay, but the flat has a larger bathroom with a bathtub, which is a great bonus. The slanted roof adds charm, and I imagine it would sound lovely if it rained. Fossils Reach also has a washing machine that’s free to use. There was some biological washing powder in the cupboard, but I’d recommend bringing your own just in case.
Nicky, the host, has been fantastic, friendly, thoughtful, and quick to help.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend either flat. Both are clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and excellent value for money. I’d be very happy to stay here again on future trips...

None of this pitching on top of one another. You truly do get your own space. The view is probably one of the best I've ever had at a campsite. That being said, and it should be pretty obvious, it's rather exposed so take decent pegs and be prepared for some wind. Pitch instructions suggest parking to the left of the pitch but I ended up parking the other side to try and create a wind break. That being said it wasn't windy all the time and our tent survived! Facilities include numerous portable loos at 3 locations along the field. The owner came multiple times throughout the day, EVERY day to ensure they were clean. NO issues here. (If the owner reads this, I do believe the central portaloo flush is temperamental?). Showers were again of the portable type but the water was hot and it's private...perfect. Washing up Facilities, blocks for raising camp fires, buckets, logs for sale etc. Everything you need.
Site is well positioned with a nearby supermarket, Starbucks and burger king a short walk away. Great transport links and if you choose to drive, everything is easy to get to.
Access to the coastal path was also great!
Added bonus - Ice cream van visits every night!!
No noise complaints, all settled by...

Campsite well spaced out, so we didnt feel too close to our neighbours or like we disturbed those around us when the children were playing. Campsite easy walking distance from aldi, small coop and plenty of fast food places and a few pubs if you need any supplies or dont fancy cooking. The host sent clear an thoughtful updates and directions, and could be seen regularly checking the facilities were clean and all was well. We only stayed one night as were very new to camping, so we didnt make use of the showers. What we saw looked functional and we wouldnt be concerned about using them next time. Porterloos were well stocked with hard sani and loo roll and kept clean throughout our stay. Running water and a little sink were close to the loos for ease of washing hands too. Were looking forward to visiting again next season as we are regular visitors to Dorset. Will be encouraging friends and family to join us for a camping weekend next year - especially as weymouth, durdle door and the jurassic coast are so...
