We booked a family room at the Wheatsheaf last Friday as we planned to do the waterfall trail and wanted to make an early start of it on the Saturday. We were happy with our room & enjoyed a nice meal in the dinning area, up to this point all of the staff were lovely & helpful. When we were initially showed to our room we were advised that a band would be playing later that night but it was far from our room and if the noise got too much to let them know and they would turn the volume down. This was the first time that we had been notified that a band was due to play, I had booked the room directly from the Wheatsheaf website which also included notifying them that a child would be staying with us, there was no indication that any performances were taking place, I received several emails from the Wheatsheaf between the time of our booking & arrival at no point was it communicated to us that a band would be playing. The Wheatsheaf has previously stated that it was posted on social media in regards to the band playing, however we did not know that it is prerequisite to check all social media before making a booking, we have never had to do this with any other bookings, we are not from the area so do not follow the Wheatsheaf on any social media platforms. The music started at 8pm and was a rock band, the volume was very loud and a major issue was the vibrations that could be felt through our room, our main concern was for our 3 year old who was very tired after a day at the Yorkshire Show, unsurprisingly it was very difficult to get him settled. As advised by the staff member who showed us our room we reported this to the manager who was very hostile & unsympathetic, he stated that it is a pub & therefore this noise is to be expected. What the manger seems unable to comprehend is there is a huge difference between normal pub noise & a rock band performance, we have stayed at other pubs & are very much aware of the noise level & have no issue with the normal level of noise that is expected at pub. This is evident from the fact that once the band had finished playing we were able to relax & have a comfortable nights sleep. Furthermore we have no issue with bands playing at the Wheatsheaf, what we have taken issue with is the fact that the Wheatsheaf did not give us prior warning that a rock band would be playing so that we could make an informed decision as to if this is the right place to for us to stay & the hostile unsympathetic response that we received from the manager, it made for a very unwelcome stay to the point where we did not feel comfortable having our included breakfast the following morning & sourced it elsewhere, from a lovely friendly local cafe. I have no expectation of a resolution following this review as the manager cannot seem to grasp that we are not criticizing a working pub or the fact that a band was playing but we are critical of the lack of communication & the inhospitable attitude directed to us when we were just concerned for our child, I am writing this review as I would not want anyone else experience this especially with a child. A very disappointing experience that nearly spoilt our little getaway but Ingleton is beautiful & everyone else other than the manager has been warm...

There are 7 rooms, all accommodate dogs for £15 extra and 2 face the garden, the rest the street and have noise from the pub downstairs till closing time. The location is excellent on the high street with plenty of parking. Our bathroom was large with a circular shower and bath sheets not towels. Toiletries provided. Very hot water. Beds were comfy with crisp bedding. However this room had very little space between the bed and the wall requiring a sideways crab shuffle to get by. It was a long , narrow room. The windows had no proper fittings so were either wide open or sort of shut. The bathroom door would not fit in the frame to close. All the paintwork could do with a good clean/sand/paint, the doors in particular. New door frames and maintenance work required on the room entrance door as required special treatment to lock. The door at the top of the stairs needs a good CIF ! The room had all you could need facility wise, nice bedside lamp but the main light had only a dim candle bulb in it, needs replacing. A traditional pub with nice olde worlde features, steep stairs and multiple rooms on different levels as you find in these traditional places. A bar area with TV, restaurant, alcoves and breakfast room. There is live music on Fridays and a quiz on Mondays. Lovely beer garden at the rear with play equipment. Dogs allowed everywhere except restaurant room but must sit under the tables. The breakfast room is well presented and breakfast included. Plenty of choice and 3 sizes of English style breakfast available. Very generous portions. Delicious. The staff were lovely and the music in the breakfast room was welcome to make a more relaxing atmosphere for everyone. On the whole served it's purpose for a B&B but needs a lot of maintenance as was below standard for the price range. Expect it to be noisy through the floor as it is a pub...
