Stick to the fish, it's very good. The service and trimmings on the other hand...

The welcome was frosty from the moment we walked in - not a smile or a greeting from the host/owner who seemed disappointed we had a reservation and just pointed to our (long pre-booked) table and left us to it and kept the warmth at the same setting each time she came over. Embarrassingly it was so obvious our guests mentioned it first.

The waiter brought a small portion of what seemed like supermarket bread and offered no feedback while I was picking wine. The wine I chose was pretty good and not unreasonably priced, but the waiter just opened it and left it for me to pour, no tasting or assistance.

We had four of the options from the specials board, and all were fresh fish excellently prepared. They were served with almost enough boiled potatoes and steamed veg - no other options offered.

The desserts were not priced so we had to ask. We ordered two between four. They were OK but I doubt we'd have them again - in particular the creme brulee was custardy. We skipped coffee and got the bill. Having paid we left unacknowledged.

Overall I'd say this was not the "intimate" experience other reviews imply. There are great places in Cowes, but despite living very nearby we aren't likely to return, which is a shame as we came in the most positive frame of mind and were good humoured and polite throughout.

Summary: Great fish, but tired decor, frosty welcome and lack of attention to trimmings and details makes me want to spend my money elsewhere in...

We booked well in advance and explained it was a special birthday for my wife and two guests We both went for the monk fish at £22.50 a head as the main course It was very disappointing It was tough and tasteless, bland would be a better description (with a small amount of vegetables and potatoes to share amongst four of us ) The presentation was poor My guest went for sea bass which was described as ok and haddock smoked which my other guest left half of We were not asked by the waiter if we enjoyed our food we got the feeling he knew We choose the homemade brownie and ice cream which was very ordinary We had to go and ask for a candle to stick in the ice cream for her Birthday We tipped the staff as it was not their fault but with a bill of £168 we came away disappointed at what should have been a wonderful occasion It appears that with a rich clientele of high spending yachting fraternity to serve , visitors are very much second class a very disappointed customer Gary Don...

Fantastic restaurant! I’ve been here a few times now and every time the service and food had been just fantastic. I arranged an anniversary dinner here a couple of weeks ago for my parents and 25 guests. Everyone at Murray’s went above and beyond to make it a really special evening for us. Fran was just incredible at organising everything for me including setting the tables out and helping with putting a few decorations up. She also came up with a fixed menu with the chef for the evening and making sure all the guests were well watered and fed. We had the back room all to ourselves for the evening and the food came out hot and fresh! So many of the guests still tell me how tasty their food was that night. I can’t fault anything. If you want a truly local, cosy restaurant with fresh tasty food this is the place to go. We...

This has been on our list for a while to try. It didn't disappoint. We've been asking why we didn't try it sooner. We had a 3 course dinner. I had the fish soup starter, my son had the squid and the birthday boy had salmon and prawns with marie rose sauce. All were superb 👌. For our main we had the salmon and prawn with lobster sauce linguine, which was beautiful. We also had room for pudding and went for the bailey's creme brulee which was amazing. The service from, Declan was spot on and prompt but with enough time between courses. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great birthday meal.

We went for lunch and the seafood was done beautifully! Lovely specials menu to choose from. And the oysters were delicious too! Do expect the specials to be done fairly simply - boiled potatoes and vegetables, but frankly that's what you'd get in the best seafood restaurants in the Mediterranean! I saw from some other reviews about a somewhat cold service... Sure, it's not the warmest of service but certainly professional and not unfriendly.
