A lovely historic building and surrounding gardens, there is also a Butterfly House, Plant Nursery, Outdoor Markets, and a Cafe too. Parking is free and plentiful, although it can become crowded when there is a football match on in the nearby park, or there is a very popular event on. Once you've paid admission you are free to walk around the interior without a time constraint. There are lots of information panels everywhere and you can really learn a lot, just ensure you bring your reading glasses if you need them. In the past, this building has been a private home, a school three times, and a military base once, all of which add to the interest of a lovely Tudor building. Whilst very interesting in and of itself, the rooms are not furnished as you might expect in a Stately Home, but there are enough points of interest to keep anyone happy. I think this is one venue that really benefits from a guided tour, adding flesh to the otherwise bare bones. That said, our children loved the room with tons of activities to try and even more, to learn, there are also various exhibitions put on in those rooms, and this can greatly add to the appeal of a visit here (Currently there are Dinosaurs roaming). Well worth a visit, just bring a jacket as it can be quite chilly next to the single glazed original windows. And if you get the chance to do a guided tour, take it! One word of caution however, the site is also a venue for weddings, so if you want full unrestricted access, ensure that there is nothing else on when you want to visit. Also if you are a member of the National Trust, do bring your membership card with you...

SO much to do here! the historic house & visitors centre usually have at least a couple of exhibitions going on (you will have to pay to get into the house to see whatever is going on in there but the visitor centre is usually open to the public). There are also added attractions such as the Butterfly Jungle & the Owls (both places have separate entry of about £4-5 I think?) not everybody's cup of tea, just letting you know they're in there!
There is a large park & gardens open to the public with tons of birds & wildlife to admire all year round!
Ooh and not forgetting the lovely ladies at the Riverside cafe who make a mean hot chocolate with cream (mmm yum!) & offer some very posh sandwiches, jacket potatoes, smaller meals etc - if you're really hungry there's a restaurant just outside by the car park!
If you're travelling far I would probably suggest contacting the house just to check they're fully open as they do also book weddings in.
CURRENTLY PARKING IS TOTALLY FREE! no matter how long you're there (but Bexley Council took over on the 1st April, so who knows if that will continue indefinitely lol)
Anyway totally recommend it for a day out! if you're on Twitter go to their page @HallPlace to see some more...

Sometimes there is a small farmer's market. When we went there we had got some stuff from the farmer's market and had a spontaneous picnic! You'll have to check the dates for the farmers market to see when they are there.
The gardens are really lovely and very interesting. They are small but perfectly formed with lots of variety. So nice wandering around in the sunshine and eating an ice cream.
Personally I think the actual house is overpriced. There is nothing there. The house is all but empty and there is very little information. It's very small and will take you next to no time to get around it. I would really skip the house and just enjoy the gardens.
Speaking of the gardens, there is a butterfly house and also some owls to see! Both are pretty cool!! They both have a small charge associated but in my opinion they are worth it. You can get to old and make a fuss of some of the owls they have there. It's a fun extra should you decide to do these things.
All in all it's a lovely place to be and especially if...
