We arrived just after another couple - and a parcel delivery. The host remarked that we'd got the room for nothing - well next to nothing. She also showed me her four new teeth she'd had implanted recently. She showed us into her personal living room while she puzzled out loud where she was going to put as she was overbooked by 6 people for that night. Our room wasn't ready ( approx. 4pm) - I offered to go away and come back later but she said that wasn't necessary and she knew which room she'd put us in. We followed her upstairs and she told us the code for the door. We hadn't booked ensuite and I don't object to a shared bathroom, but it felt as though this was the family bathroom given all the toothbrushes, razors and shampoo left round the sink after the first night. Now it could be that they all belonged to other guests. ||||There were 2 beds in the room - a small double and a single. She asked if we needed 2 beds as she may need to take the single out. No we didn't need the single bed. I attempted to lie on the double which was up against the wall and nearly disappeared . Turns out the "double bed" was in fact a cheap fold down sofa with a broken leg that had a mattress precariously balanced on top. Hubby managed to fix the sofa leg, but it was evident that it had been moved and dragged around a lot, which had caused the damage. ||After that I lay on the single bed. The duvet cover on that had a cigarette burn. ||I didn't want to stay there at this point. We opened the wardrobe - nice sturdy furniture- to discover a shelf with some foreign foods in jars and a large thick sweater in the bottom. ||The host explained that they don't cook breakfast but cereal and toast are available in the kitchen. I was disappointed not to be able to have a cuppa in my room. Well I could have a cuppa in my room but it meant going downstairs, through the hall and kitchen, out to the property next door, making said cuppa and retracing one's steps. ||We went and made a cuppa and as it was such a nice evening, we sat in the garden to drink it, during which time we could hear someone yelling for Angelo and someone screaming at some one else to go & clean the effing bathroom. The chair I sat on broke and I fell backwards hurting one elbow and badly bruising my other arm where the chair fell on top of me. The man seeing to the laundry came & helped me up and took the chair away. He said he thought it was broken already - which begs the question what the devil was it still doing there??||We took our leave and went out to eat. By the time we returned, more cars and people had arrived. ||Upstairs 1 bathroom with the toilet in it for 5 bedrooms doesn't really work. The only other toilet we were aware of was the one adjacent to the kitchen in the house next door ( no 128). ||Getting to sleep was a mission as there was so much coming & going in & out of all 3 properties - every movement being accompanied by the banging of a door. ||Someone appeared to be taking a shower at 3.30am, but frankly that's probably the only time they could get in the bathroom. ||The following morning, there was a large party of guests from overseas congregating at the bottom of the stairs and they were very loud.||We decided to go out for breakfast as I didn't want to sit at the table that really only sat 2 people or risk life and limb sitting outside again. As we were leaving 2 people were moving a single bed. ||We returned mid afternoon to find our bedroom door wide open and the single bed having been removed. I was aware they may need the bed but to leave the door wide open is just not acceptable. After another short rest, we got ready to go out for the evening. After the gig we just decided to go back, pick up our things and head for home. At this point ( approaching midnight) the front door of 128 was wide open, thus confirming what other people have said about the place not being secure. I too noticed a number of nitrous oxide canisters outside in the road. ||There are some nice things about the property - the host is very friendly, the bedding & towels were clearly of quality when they were new. All the laundry is done on site. The garden is lovely and in a quiet area. ||I just felt as though someone had been "turfed out" of their room for us. The nice green kitchen in the photos - we were not invited...
Read moreThe worst place I have ever stayed in my life. ||Turned up to be told by the owner she was overbooked and didn’t know where she was going to put us. She then went into someone’s room while they were out and removed his things and put us in his room. The room smelt of urine, cannabis and cigarettes as did the rest of the building. Our friends where put in the next building, where the shared bathroom resembles a place where even cockroaches go to die. As we did not feel secure we left all of our belongings in the car. We then witnessed staff and the owner arguing in front of us and other guests, very unprofessional and left us feeling even more uncomfortable. We went out for the day and came back later on to find our room door wide open, when we asked the owner she said the previous guest had come back for his stuff, but not to worry he wouldn’t be coming back again. ||The next morning I was awoke by the cleaner walking in and out of our building and banging the front door repeatedly. The banging continued with the owner walking round moving beds around and shouting at staff. Because they were so overbooked they turned a kitchen into a bedroom and her own living room into another. When those guests arrived they were as bemused as us. Luckily we all had to get ready for a concert and decided to laugh at the situation. Later on after we returned the other guests who were set up in the living room found a camera pointing directly at where they were sleeping, and a bin bag stuck over a hole in an adjoining door to another room where a mother slept with her child. ||Honestly do not be fooled by the photos these are not true to life. Our window was held shut by coat hangers, staff tried to come into rooms unauthorised and while guests were asleep and well before check out time. On the plus side there was complimentary shampoo in an...
Read moreAlso the door doesn’t work and owner shouts at you down the phone. I have stayed here 10 nights in past. Came back tonight. Another guest came in after me. Heard banging and kicking at the door. Other guests ignored it as instructions stated. I rang owners, after four rings phone was turned off. I emailed. I was worried about damage so rang police. An anonymous phone caller told me to let all of the guests in. But no owner came to the property. But I didn’t know who that was and I needed to show my passport to even get a booking. Later other guests got in. I was given a phone with the owner on the end. He was very cross. He said I had closed the door wrong. ( other people came in after me and I’ve never had that issue before and I’ve now read other guests have had the same problem so that isn’t true). I have evidence of everything I’ve said. So he cancelled all of my future bookings at short notice. So now I have gone round the building and got some genuine delightful pictures for you all to see. Real honest pictures showing what a hole...
