I'm a restaurant reviewer and blogger, my Instagram is: msfoodiereviewsforyou. I'm passionate about good food and will try the restaurants and review so you dont have to waste your time or money!

Izgara is a lovely restaurant situated in Edgware, HA8. The management was very good & the staff were very attentive. Had a couple of starters to try. The courgette fritters (with feta & herbs) were a little oily, however very delicious. My friend loved the Turkish beef sausage too.

For mains I had the whole sea bass and I assumed that it would be the whole fish it was actually 2 fillets of sea bass, which actually I was quite happy about but wasn't what was expected. The lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection, and my friend raved about them. Another friend had the mixed fish shish, which she said was amazing. Especially the halibut.

I sneaked a photo of the mixed meat platter, which looked lovely too!

Do note that the mains are served with salad only, so you have to order your sides on top.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and I love they have booths as well as larger tables, which are able to seat many friends or family.

My only criticisms are that it's not so easy to park in Edgware (not the restaurants fault) and I'm used to being offered a free little schnapps or baileys at the end of a meal, which would have been a nice touch.

We had a bottle of Pinot grigio Rose, which was lovely, and thought the bill of £30 per head for four, inclusive of service, was very reasonable. They do bring out warm bread to start as well as the standard spicy sauce and garlic sauce for while you wait.

The decor inside this restaurant is beautiful and the toilets are very clean.

The waiter that welcomed us was polite, helpful and accommodated changes well whereas the waitress didn't even crack a smile and had poor customer service skills. Asking a customer "are you done?" before taking their plate is so unprofessional, try "would you like me to take your plate?". Her energy was unsettling after we flagged some issues with our food/bill. We were charged for a side of rice that hadn't actually arrived with the meal but this was easily amended when settling the bill.

2 cocktails were made without alcohol as a mistake and they were courteous and let us have those drinks free of charge. This was appreciated.

The atmosphere was calm but would have been better if there was some Turkish music playing in the background while dining to make it a more authentic dining experience.

My lamb saute meal arrived warm and disappointingly didn't taste of much despite having a 'special sauce'. My partners lamb shish was quite chewy. The rice was lovely and fluffy, nice chips and the Tabouleh was refreshing.

The passionfruit mojito was sweet and delicious but tasted like a mocktail so we had to ask for more alcohol to be added.

Thankyou for the experience but unfortunately I wouldn't be...

I have eaten in the restaurant as well as takeaway on site many occasions. The food is amazing. Good portions too. Most of the staff are friendly and attentive. However I had a bad experience with the manager/owner of the restaurant today. After paying for my food which I went to pick up, I asked if the prices for the same dish was correct on deliveroo as it was more by almost £5 or it was an error. I expected a yes or no with a simple explanation. Instead the Owners reply was rude and intimidating to be honest. I actually reiterated that I was just asking so that I know, nothing more, nothing less. Despite doing so the Owner carried on on what appeared to be a rant. I felt uncomfortable and dissapointed by this behaviour as a regular customer. Why he behaved this way only he knows. I can only assume. Witnessing this was one of his employees standing behind him. This made me feel embarrassed. All because I wanted to confirm the different prices for the same dish in restaurant and delivery. Besides this incident, I love the food and the other staff. However, I will have to think whether I want to be spending my money in a restaurant owned by a rude individual, who should be exemplary...

Super! Staff are great, the owner is always there so you know that the business runs just right! High quality food, generous portions and bread served with no limits! In a busy evening (fri, sat and sun) it can take up to 20 minutes waiting but like I’ve said, you have bread with yogurt and pepper sauce while you wait, a good selection of drinks and affordable cocktails. They offer happy hour prices that are even better but during normal times, the price isn’t expensive! Parking is available in the streets and always managed to find a spot. Toilets are cleaned frequently and smells like clean! So important! I have also ordered take away and collection (15mins wait) and the service it’s just proper! 10 out of 10, me and my partner always comes back and they have recognised us and this treatment makes us feel at home and thats the kind of experience and respect that I’m looking when I go out! Very good! We had a Sharing Platter 1 that was more than enough for both of us!

I recently visited a Turkish restaurant in North London and had a mixed experience overall. The highlight of the meal was definitely the appetizers — both the hot and cold mezza plates were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I would highly recommend starting with those if you visit. When it came to the main courses, things were a bit more hit-and-miss. The lamb cubes stood out — juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the spicy chicken skewer didn’t hold up; it was dry and lacked flavor. I wouldn’t recommend that dish. Dessert was another letdown. The sütlaç (Turkish rice pudding) was bland and notably missing its signature touch of cinnamon, which made it feel unfinished. The baklava, while generous in portion, was overly sweet and lacked the balance of flavor you’d expect from a good one. Overall, it’s a place worth visiting for the starters and maybe the lamb, but I’d skip the desserts and be selective with the mains.
