Pavilion Hotel — Hotel in London

This place was amazing!!! Chosen by my partner as part of a surprise birthday weekend and it did not fail!!! The place has such wonderful charm, decor and quirkiness. If your expecting a chain style hotel then dont book here, you've got to be a certain type of person to find this place amazing. The bed was really comfy, the room was ample sized, warm and inviting was also clean. Stone's throw from Paddington Station which is handy. The communal areas were delightful and had such different characteristics to each part. Considering we were one of the rooms at the front and had the window open all night as we were hot we had a peaceful night sleep, obviously there was noise but it is London after all. The staff were polite and inviting. There are a few things that perhaps could be changed..... The room was well loved, some was how it should be such as the reclaimed sink and headboard, things like the broken Chandler and Threadbare rug but it kind of adds to the charm of it. There wasnt any milk to be able to make a cuppa, but we didnt ask for any from the reception so could have just be a genuine error of a busy person. The bathroom had a shower over the bath but nothing to attach it to so was an interesting shower but again we enjoyed the charm of it. The breakfast was certainly interesting but not bad just different - Sweet waffle, Nutrigrain bar, Orange juice carton and Flavoured milk carton. Not quite Continental but enough to keep us going till late morning. Previous people's comments have said how they didnt like having to leave the key at reception when they went out as felt their privacy was infringed, each hotel has a key to your room regardless of size or name or chain so they could enter if an emergency required them too and this is no different, however I never once felt like anyone had or would go in. But like any hotel you dont leave valuables lying around! We will certainly be returning here again and booking a different room so we can see them all. If I ever needed a half star it was here, 3 seems a little harsh yet 4 seems a stretch too far.

We stayed in "Cosmic Girl". I have never stayed in a boutique hotel before so admittedly I have no yardstick for comparison but I came away feeling like they almost had something really good going on but not quite.

The main feature of our room was the bed base was constructed from frosted glass blocks which were then illuminated from inside. This would have been awesome except it seemed like at least one of the bulbs inside the bed was blown and when you turned on the "in bed" lighting the result was far from spectacular, you would struggle to find your way to the bathroom by it.

Ah, the bathroom. It was small but adequate, the shower was decent, my only gripe was it looked like it had taken two goes to cut the tiles out so the fitted around the cistern, but rather than removing the first set they were all in situ for the world to see. I guess at least it is a lesson for me when I come to tile my bathroom...

Breakfast consisted of a muffin, a croissant, some muesli with milk and a glass of orange juice. It's left outside your door so no need to get up at a set time, but nothing to get overly excited about.

Bring your own hairdryer if you happen to be a girl, there isn't one in the room. If you are a guy planning to surprise your other half then you should probably bring one too...

In summary I would say this place is a great idea which is slightly under executed. It felt like the place could do with a little TLC and then it would be really good. I wouldn't say it was dirty by any stretch of the imagination but things like the chrome decor or the crystals in the chandeliers could do with a once over. Contra Von der Paddington Station aus haben wir ca eine Stunde gebraucht das Hotel zu finden. Und wir waren nicht die einzigen. Am Mittwoch haben wir jemanden aufgegabelt der total verzweifelt gesucht hat. 2.Direkt beim einchecken viel mir auf das es sehr staubig und eng war. Dies zog sich zuerst im Treppenhaus fort. Meinen Koffer habe ich nur mit Mühe die Stufen hoch bekommen auf denen ich hoch nur mit den Fußspitzen und runter nur mit den Fersen auftreten konnte so eng waren sie. Dann kamen wir endlich im Zimmer an. Ein Mini Doppelzimmer. Wieder war alles staubig. Um das "Doppelbett" war jeweils ein halber Meter Platz. Das "Doppelbett" bestand aus zwei Betten und einem nicht montierten Kopfteil. Die Betten rutschten bei der kleinsten Bewegung herum, sodass meine Begleitung mich Nachts wach machen musste damit wir mein Bett verrückten konnten damit sie zur Toilette konnte. Zudem gab es keine richtige Bettdecke. Bloß eine tagesdecke aus Poliester die wie Brokat aussehen sollte. Außerdem weine Wolldecke und eine muffige Zierdecke. Das "Badezimmer"Wenn man es Zimmer nennen will, Hatte die Größe einer Campingplatzdusche. Ich gebe zu ich bin dick. Aber meine Begleitung trägt Größe 44 und hatte ebenfalls Probleme. Nicht nur, dass ich die Tür erst schließen konnte, wenn ich bereits auf der Toilette saß, sobald ich aufstand kam ich nicht umhin sie wieder auf zu drücken. Genau so, wenn ich mir das Gesicht im Waschbecken wusch oder die Zähne putzen wollte. Privatsphäre ist was anderes. Zudem gab es weder im Bad noch im Zimmer eine Lüftung obwohl im Zimmer ein Lüftungsgitter hing. Die Dusche hatte weder eine Halterung für shampoo Flaschen noch war sie in irgend einer Form rutschfest. Das wäre noch kein Problem gewesen, wenn wenigstens das Wasser wärmer als Eisregen gewesen wäre. Den Wasserdruck hat meine Begleitung nett als "Wie wenn ein Ochse Milch gibt" beschrieben. "das Zimmer ist mit einer Tee und Kaffee Maschine ausgestattet. Ha.... Haha. Ein wasserkocher. Von ikea der bestimmt schon einige Jahre auf dem Buckel hat und zwei kleine Teetassen. Täglich zwei teebeutel, Milch und löslicher Kaffee. Super. Das Continental - Frühstück. Die Kritik dazu hatte ich vor Beginn unseres Urlaubs bereits gelesen und wurde dahingehend weniger aber dennoch enttäuscht. Zwei in Plastik verpackte Milchhörnchen, zwei Tiefkühlmuffins die im Mund zu pappemache wurden, zwei Orangensaft Päckchen und zwei mal warme(!) Weetabix Milchgetränke entweder vanille oder Schoko die zwei mal abgelaufen war und selbst wenn nicht durch das nicht kaltstellen einen ekligen Film auf der Zunge hinterlassen hat. Keine Butter oder Marmelade. Und selbst als wir für die letzten Tage das Frühstück abbestellt hatten hat man es uns hingestellt. Geht lieber um die Ecke bei Java U frühstücken. Das kostet zwischen 6&12 pfund und ist super reichhaltig und lecker. Lärmbelästigung rund um die Uhr und ein "großartiger Ausblick" Wer auf einen ruhigen Schlaf hofft ist auch hier eher enttäuscht. Ganz in der Nähe gibt es ein Krankenhaus. Was wir daran feststellen konnten das nachts minimum jede halbe Stunde ein Krankenwagen vorbei fuhr. Und nicht mit Martinshorn nein mit so einer super nervigen Sirene. Außerdem ging das Fenster vorne zur Straße raus, die etwa 5-8m entfernt war. Neben Mitternächtlichen Passanten die mehr oder weniger laut herumschrien und Autos die in einer Tour hupten konnten wir auch das abholen des Mülls live mit anhören. Die Aussicht die uns beim Check in als "Best view" versprochen wurde konnten wir leider nicht sehen...

Pro Die Nähe zur Edgware road St. Einigermaßen schnelles WLAN Einen (laut quietschenden) Mini Ventilator der für Erfrischung in der Nacht sorgte (sowie für allergische nieserei wegen Staub) Und zuletzt war der eine Angestellte den wir wach angetroffen haben (ein zweiter schlief als wir am Morgen das Hotel verließen) sehr nett, auch wenn auf Wünsche (gekühlte Milch statt warmer oder keine Muffins) nicht...
