Despite having to wait 20 minutes for my key to be cut upon checking in (owing to an issue with the computer system), I just had a rather pleasant 3-night stay at the London Beckton Premier Inn.
When booking this hotel initially, I was worried that its location would be a bit far from central location but opted for it due to the good value. However, being just minutes from the DLR station and a very easy journey from there, this is totally not an issue. The journey into central London is very straightforward. Also, the hotel is directly opposite an Asda superstore, with other smaller shops within.
I found the room and all the included amenities to be to a good standard. The room was spacious, cozy and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern. Perhaps, the bathroom could do with a toilet brush, but I think that was the only thing missing.
My only complaint is regarding the air conditioning unit, which seemingly turns itself on after a certain number of hours. Upon entering my room on the first day (and every other subsequent day), the air conditioning unit was blasting out cold air, which resulted in a very cold room. Turning the unit up to a high temperature didn’t seem to have much impact. The unit came on in the middle of the night too until I learnt to switch it on then off just before I went to sleep. I imagine this is because the window cannot be opened, but it would be preferred if this could be disabled entirely.
Overall, my stay was good and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. It was in a good location and I felt the price per night was...
Read moreWe have stayed in Premier Inns before, in various cities and we always had a good experience. This one however left us rather disappointed. This is your VERY basic English bed & breakfast.
The positives: The hotel is located a 2 minute walk from the Beckton DLR station, the Beckton Bus Station, where you can take double decker buses to nearby destinations and the Asda supermarket, where you can buy water and snacks for your daily excursions. There is also a McDonald‘s in the Asda. The personnel at the reception is quite friendly.
The negatives: The facilities definitely need a renovation. I mean the carpet in the corridors and rooms is quite old and dirty. The a/c in our room was delivering cold air irregardless of the temperature setting. When we asked why the room had not been cleaned, after 5 days (!!), the said the maid had left and gave us a big bag to empty the trash cans ourselves. There is a pub attached to the hotel, where the breakfast is served and you can also get lunch or dinner ala carte. The breakfast menu is quite limited, offering just your typical bacon, eggs, beans & sausage. There was a bowl of fruit which did not seem fresh. The coffee from the machine was cold and when we complained, they told us to pour some hot water from the tea water in…. The dinner was okay, with dishes which in reality looked a lot different from the pictures in their menu. Overall if you have a low budget it’s ok, but if you can afford it, choose one of the newer...
Read moreI am a loyal business and domestic customer of Premier Inn and will book with you wherever possible throughout the UK. As a frequently exhibitor at the Excel Exhibition centre located aprox 2 miles away I have stayed at the Beckton Premier inn for the past 12 years (aprox 15 times per year)
The Beckton branch is obviously very popular and subsequently has seen much wear and tear over the past years - there has been recent expansion works and basic maintenance work to try and keep on top of an ageing hotel
The reception staff have always been very helpful
Unfortunately over the past year the service at the adjoining Brewers Fayre has been appalling and the Premier inn should relay address the issues with this bolt on bar / restaurant.
The staff apart from a very select few are rude, unapproachable and have adapted an offensive and hostile environment. I understand that everyone will have a bad day now and again and pressures of staff shortages or busy rush hours can be stressful. I urge you to visit and experience the service first hand as a mystery shopper. 30th /31st Jan both through breakfast and evening meals my self and colleague were treated as if we were a complete inconvenience, staff huffing and puffing, hostile attitude, not even a slight attempt to make the customer feel welcome let alone a paying guest. Change the staff / change the attitude and don't let a small minority of your associated staff ruin the good reputation of Premier...
