Can not believe I am having to write this about a well known “family” restaurant BREWERS FAYRE (beckton branch) . I regularly visit brewers fayre with my father and 4 children . 2 of of my children are disabled which brewers fayre are well aware of due to us being regular customers . We visited the Beckton branch of brewers fayre (Winsor House) on Saturday 30th April 2022 . It was myself , my father and my 4 children that attended . 2 of my children are disabled, one with a severe Brain condition, along with autism and the other with autism. Due to my children’s disability , they play with their food while eating and will make a lot of mess with food wherever they are, home or outdoors. Whenever we visit brewers fayre, my disabled children make mess on the floor and table however I always clean up before we leave and the place is left exactly as it was when we arrived. On 30/04/22, we visited for another meal. After a while of being in the restaurant , the manager approached me and stated the floor and surroundings was very messy, and people do not want to be having their dinner around mess, she asked me to leave the restaurant. The manager in charge was called Ivy. I was in absolute shock, I explained to Ivy (store manager) we are regulars in the restaurant. I explained 2 of my children were disabled which is why they make a lot of mess during their meals, and stated I always clean up the mess we have made before leaving the restaurant. I said to Ivy all she had to do was ask me to clean up the mess my disabled children had made as it was uncomfortable to other guests. I then said I would clean up the mess , she interrupted me speaking and said she did not want me to clean up the mess my children made, instead she wanted me to leave the restaurant. I expressed I was disgusted by her response, and explained i felt my disabled children were being discriminated because of their disability. I understand the restaurant Would like to keep the restaurant nice and tidy for all the guests, however to kick us out because my disabled children made mess is just disgusting , and pure discrimination. I explained to the manager (Ivy) I would clean up my childrens mess before I left as that is what I do at every visit. She walked away without responding and without me knowing or giving her any valid reason to, she called the police. Police attended and said after speaking to staff members it is clear I always leave the restaurant clean and tidy , however they have been called to make sure I leave the restaurant and they can not leave until me and my family leave . I then had to pack up all of my belongings , get my disabled daughter into her wheelchair, and be escorted out of brewers fayre by police officers. Not only was this such an embarrassment for myself and my children, I was made to feel like a criminal. I will never forget how brewers fayre made me feel that evening , I was being punished and kicked out of a “family” restaurant because my disabled, vulnerable children made some mess. Brewers fayre discriminated against my children because of their disability , and I will not accept this and keep quiet . I am my children’s voice as they are non verbal, how my children have been treated is appalling and unforgivable . Brewers fayre you should be disgusted with yourselves , allowing your staff to discriminate against disabled guests is appalling and totally...
