I arrived in the evening; 2 days before Christmas 2023. The service reception staff person was the most unfriendly Travelodge representative. The poor dear struggled to even smile. No. Actually she didn’t smile. I have stayed in over 15 Travelodge hotels in London and was shocked by this person’s lack of hospitality. As Christmas is tomorrow I am graciously not posting her name here. Her customer service communication skills are inadequate. Usually the person greets you; asks if you have visited before. Ha! This lady was like, “your room is on the first floor. You can use the door to the right to access the room.” Wow it gets better. The room was not to my liking and to this individual’s credit, when I asked to change she graciously changed the room. However I showed her a photo of a large puddle of water in the elevator. She said Nothing. No , thank you for letting me know.” Stone faced like her communication skills. The new room was not properly cleaned. Two dirty cups and dirty spoons were left for me. Water was spilled on the desk. I wondered if this was some kind of crime scene. I suppose this is the hotel’s Christmas present. I politely brought the cups down to the reception( another lady assisted me). I gave the present to the lady. Some gifts should be returned. Dirty place!! Yuck

I recently stayed at the travel lodge, and overall, it wasn't terrible but a few things to mention. The room itself was pretty clean but didn't have an iron & board which I had to collect from downstairs. (You'd think being next to the excel and expecting business customer this would be the norm, the front of house said this was only the case for floors 1 &4?...). Foodwise, I'd suggest getting an Uber eats and fully avoiding the kitchen. The chef was very nice, but I don't think he is aware of his inability to cook!.. Picture attached of the pizza I ordered, none of which the toppings stayed on and well ended up looking like beans on toast! Shame as the ingredients probably weren't that bad, just the execution. It also took just under an hour to get to me. The bar has clean taps at least and the young chap serving me there was very nice. Finally, the service overall was actually very pleasant, the only issue I found was that almost every member of staff asked you to give them a stellar review on trip advisor, even the lady that checked me in after having a conversation of about 30 seconds... Just felt cheap and cringe. Overall, for the price, it is not unreasonable, just a few things to note above.

Cheap and not so cheerful The rooms are about as clean as expected for a Travelodge, nothing horrific as far as I can see. It smells like a Travelodge, a smell I haven't experienced anywhere else other than a Travelodge or Premier Inn. Hard to describe, but if you know you know. Sadly I'm not on the side of the building overlooking the airport, my view consists of construction cranes in the distance and an industrial wasteland similar to Terry Gilliam's film, Brazil. The fan in the bathroom is going 1000 rpm 24/7 with no way to turn it off, it's loud at night and creates a mini hurricane when the shower curtain is pulled shut and the shower is turned on. I am now a master at washing my hair and fighting a wet shower curtain at the same time. There's a not so friendly looking walkway at the side of the building where an abandoned office chair lives, this leads to the nearest underground station. You have to risk all by crossing a few busy roads near a roundabout to get to it, there are no crossings here to help. The office chair disappeared last night, but was back again today. Who knows where it went or what it did.

We have been using this hotel for years for attending events at the Excel and our most recent stay was the first since the pandemic.

The hotel has updated its decor which is nice and the room we had was clean, however we did have a few problems. Firstly we didn’t have a sign to put on the door to say that we wanted our towels changed over. So when we came back to get ready for bed we saw the towels were still in the same place as we left them in the morning. My partner asked about it and the person behind the desk said they will put it on the handover for the morning. We got new towels and went on their word that the information would pass over.

It didn’t and the next day we got back to the hotel quite late to find the towels, cups etc were not changed over. I went to the desk this time to ask why this hadn’t happened and the staff member acted like I was talking in a different language. I got towels again so by this point we had two days worth of towels piling up. Bear in mind that also we were told that the bed sheets won’t be changed over either so that was something else we would have thought would have been changed as the normal for a hotel.

In the end we ended up dumping the towels outside the room in the corridor with the cups so that everything would be changed. Thankfully it all was when we came back that evening, along with a door sign for the towels!

Secondly, we wanted to have the breakfast that we were aware you had to pay for as we didn’t have it included in our booking. We paid and whilst a few of our group went up, it seemed like all the staff running the breakfast were suspicious of us not paying. They kept approaching us and asked what room we were in, had we paid a number of times before standing around and watching us eat. It made me very uncomfortable to the point where I didn’t want to get up for the breakfast that had been paid for and my partner had to go up to get everything.

Lastly, the walls are paper thin. There were other guests next door to us that were being really loud, slamming their door until the early hours of the morning. We did say something to the staff member behind the desk about it and whilst we didn’t hear the loud laughing, the door was still being slammed. Additionally guests running up and down the corridor when it was around midnight.

Would I recommend the hotel? Yes if you are staying for 1 night. For us that were attending a weekend long event (especially working it), not so much because of the missing towel sign that didn’t seem to get replaced until we complained each night, no clean cups + sheets, being treated like we were going to pull a fast one for getting the breakfast and other guests being inconsiderate of others staying.

I would have thought that at least our door sign would have been replaced but it didn’t seem that urgent for the staff. We just wanted to have showers after a long day of working an event and not have to come back to things not being clean. Not sure if there has been cutbacks on doing general house keeping but this did cause some stress that could have...

Hello, I went with two friends to this hotel between december 22-26 in 2022. All around the hotel had a clean look and I felt safe here. The first day when we came in, the hotel room was alright, it did not look filthy at all. However, the hotel room was NOT cleaned the days after. nobody brought in clean towels, the bedsheets were not changed at all, and the ventilation was poor, because it was not possible to really open the windows. This was not even the big issue. The bathtub leaked every time when we tried to shower. The bathroom doesn't have a lock which is annoying (there should be a lock at the door). When we had arrived in the hotel, we asked if we could have breakfast in the morning(and pay extra because it was not included in our package). The receptionist told us politely we could have breakfast (we were thinking we could pay after our stay). In the morning we came to the restaurant and when the waiter asked us what our room number was, we told her our number and she said you can go and eat. We were expecting we could pay afterwards, because she did not ask for any money. When we started eating, two ladies came up to us and told us LOUDLY we had not paid yet and kind of gave us the feeling like we were criminals. We tried to tell them we did not know we had to pay in advance, but they were still keeping a very hostile attitude. This felt very disrespectful, because we were given side eyes by other people eating there. It was not a good look. We agreed and paid. They could have asked this in a polite way. The day after we went down for the breakfast again and paid this time in advance at the reception, because we knew the ladies would get mad. However when we started eating one of the ladies came to me and asked me for a receipt. I told her I did not have the receipt, because the receptionist did not tell me I needed one and had not given me one. I told the waiter to ask the receptionist if we had paid and she was still very hostile towards me. I told her she was being very rude and should think about her customer service, but when I told her this, she got mad again. After this altercation, she went to the receptionist to ask if we had paid (it's a five second walk). After she had talked with the receptionist, she just walked like nothing had happened, giving us side eyes now and then. She did not even apologize herself for her behavior towards us. Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad, but this is not the customer service a hotel in London, UK should...
