the Hampton Inn is usually my top choice for an international mid-range chain hotel. however, this location was an unpleasant stay. except for the woman managing the brunch, the staff was useless. checking in, I was starving and in a new part of town, I asked if there was any vegan food in the area - they did not mention that they sold vegan meals. I went to the front desk and noticed their menu with vegan options, asked again if they had anything vegan and was told no. I specifically asked if they had the item I was reading right on the counter, they said they were out of cauliflower so they couldn't make it. no effort to make any replacement vegan meal. I had to specifically ask if another dish was vegan - my fourth time asking, begging, pleading for vegan food, as the location has no shops in the vicinity. I then went to take a shower and stood in a pool of dirty water. I took a picture and showed the front desk. they told me I should have gotten out of the shower and called for maintenance. really - mid-shower? because this is my responsibility? shower was already ruined. they then proceeded to try to resolve the situation... for the next guest, offering nothing my way for the off-putting situation with the old lazy excuse: "well my manager is away so..." then make a note to follow up on it. they were asking me to follow up about it - why? I'm paying for the room. it's on them if something goes wrong. I'm busy and the guest, not an employee. I advise staying at another hotel with staff that aren't lazy and showers that work. *in reply to the hotel's reply: your hotel did have a vegan item - it just fell on me, the guest, to ask for it 4 times. you should have checked up on the issue before offering a blanket reply to this review. but that just further proves this hotel's complete disinterest in adequate customer service. needless to say, I won't be staying here again and I bet this review will help others not to stay here.

Chose this hotel as there was a deal for the bank Holiday, the staff were very friendly and nice but there were a couple who had no clue about a few things. For example in terms of the parking it is first come first serve bit you have to pay £15 we asked of we leave the car park and come back and there was no space what do we do? We were told "its very busy so unfortunately you would lose the space" we then said "but we have paid for parking for 2 days so what does that mean?" The answer was "yes that's true" there was no other answer apart from that🤦‍♀️ we then wanted a cocktail that was advertised at the bar you could get a glass or a jug, asked for this and was told they don't have the ingredients for it and was also told "they don't really do cocktails"🤦‍♀️(guys, it was advertised all over the bar!) Now I have to say the staff are all very friendly and nice but if these two staff are new there needs to be better training in customer service etiquette (this is not being said in a rude or condescending tone either!) Was not willing to change rooms even though it was a birthday weekend away, it would have been nice for them to try and be a bit more accommodating. The breakfast I found to be lovely but please go before 8am as they do tell you in the lift as it got crazy busy as buffets are back in play, yay!! The cleanliness of the hotel I found to be at a very high standard👏🏾👏🏾our room was lovely but I would have loved a higher floor as all we got to see was the car park for the hotel next door and dual carriageway. There is a gym in the hotel which is handy also one across the road and a Chinese restaurant opposite, a 15 minute walk to Emirates skyline to the 02, tesco metro and other shops also a 4 min walk to the DLR station which was great. Its in a good location and there are so many hotels all next door to each other.

Having recently stayed in this hotel again (previously stayed pre-pandemic and had a positive experience), it really was a mixed bag. I have added photos which will contribute to my review of a corner room on the 4th floor, I would summarise below: Main Positives: 1: Lovely staff at front desk/bar (I encountered Oliver the most but there was another man and three ladies that were equally very lovely and helpful - if it wasn't for them, my score would be lower). 2: Location (very convenient for London City Airport and ExCeL centre - I chose it primarily because of the location and previous experience I had). Royal Albert DLR very close by for travel and you can walk to/from LCY and ExCeL. 3: Breakfast included in room rate. Main Negatives: 1: Cleanliness - for me this is very important, especially post pandemic. This was the main reason the score was 3/5. Pictures with this review indicate how dirty the remote control was, the previous occupant's long hair hanging off the shampoo dispenser and the pack of tissues on the chair by the desk. I reported these the next morning after my first night, housekeeping came and serviced my room but didn't pick up on any of these (I was staying three nights total). Attention to detail was lacking for housekeeping when a customer (and Hilton silver member) picks up on these but they don't, it doesn't encourage you to book again. 2: The TV by the bar and the radio concurrently are on, so depending on where you sit one drowns out the other.

Thr hotel is situated behind the Premier Inn on the Excel site. On time of posting there are construction works directly opposite and can get quite noisy at times. Staff were pleasant on arrival, and our allocated room well presented and mostly clean (a wristband was found on the floor probably from a previous guest). On the second night we stayed the handle of the kettle broke whilst we were pouring hot drinks. A replacement was brought swiftly up. Later that evening an alarm went off in the wall of our room and wouldn't stop. This was around 10pm. We went down to reception to advise and we're told that maintenance weren't in until the morning but they could move us to a different room. However, we had to move everything out of our old room before we would be given the key cards to our new room. So it was a case of panic packing and this didn't help my Autism and brought on a meltdown. For the next two days Housekeeping ignored us in our new room as they hadn't been advised it was in use. In fact on the Sunday afternoon Housekeeping lied and stated the room had been cleaned when clearly it hadn't. Later that evening on return, new sheets and towels had been provided but there was still dirty crockery. I went to the bar to get some ice cream as it stated that it was available on top of deserts so most places do sell it by itself even though it's not mentioned. The lady at the bar said she couldn't sell me any as there wasn't a button on the till. I had to buy a children's meal in order to get ice cream but a suggestion from her originally was "have you got a room mate? Buy them the desert and scrape off the ice cream for yourself". When I asked for a tray so I could take 3 items up to my room so I'm not putting things on floors when trying to open doors, she stated "we don't have trays, because Everyone would want one", but we received a new kettle on a tray delivered to our room the other day when ours broke so there are some trays somewhere. She then 'found one' that was on the bar. The views are great especially on upper floors (we were on floor six and really fantastic views) and even given its locality (adjacent to the dlr and across the docks from airport) you hardly notice the noise. With a bit more staff training this hotel could...

Recently I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. I reached in the hotel really late at around 8:30 PM, after completing checkin formalities, once I reached in my room I realised there is no drinking water bottle. Normally in Hilton hotels they offer two small bottles of water (1 sparkling and 1 normal). To get some dinner, I came downstair and asked reception about the water. They said we don't give drinking water bottles in the room. I mentioned I got to take medicines and don't want to take water from bathroom tap and also said this is normal in every other Hilton hotel, in fact previous week I stayed in another hotel Doubletree by Hilton Greenwich, in that hotel I not only got water in room but also got complimentary drink. They said we are Hampton we are different. Then said you can purchase water from the bar, considering price is exceptionally high, I asked is there any super market nearby, then another lady said there is one, you can walk for 50 minutes. In all these conversation one thing I realised they are extremely disrespectful and literally making fun of the situation. So I said may I talk with your manager. The same lady said I am the manager and very arrogantly showed her name badge. I literally got shocked by witnessing their arrogance and disrespectful attitude towards a customer (Gold member). Next day morning, in the breakfast arena one lady greeted me very decently and asked everything alright so I shared my last night's experience. She said by knowing you are a gold member, want to take precautions, and under medication, they could have easily provide you fresh water from the bar tap in a glass by respecting your request and acknowledging your concerns.

I think that lady is more capable to become front desk manager than those two arrogant, insensitive ladies. I have decided not to stay in that hotel any more. Though I noted the name of those ladies, but by giving respect to their privacy I don't want to disclose their names publicly. It's up to Hampton by Hilton management how they want to...
