Soul + Grain London City Airport — Restaurant in London

RUDE staff! I was asked to sit on another table because ‘duty manager’ did not want to clean it however, majority of the tables were dirty. ‘Duty manager’ rolled her eyes at me because of my choice of table. After purchasing a few drinks I was told I couldn’t eat outside food in the restaurant(understandable) however, my food containers were empty as it had already been eaten. Shortly after, I was met with hostility then told the restaurant is closed; however no one else had been told apart from myself. After I highlighted this, the staff member then went over to a customer and told them I had a problem with them dining in the restaurant because it was closed. This then resulted in a dirty look from the customer who was openly eating outside food without being told otherwise. In my short visit, i was given two dirty looks, asked to choose another table to sit at, then told the restaurant was closed whilst there were others still dining. I don’t expect to be treated like this. Childlike attitude, smug remarks, whispering and poor customer service from staff. They made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Got to the airport early so was there from about 11:30am until 12:30pm. I had a coffee which was very lovely however I did notice something I didn’t like.

While sitting down waiting for my gate to be shown I noticed at around 12pm a young man came in (he had his coat & bag so I assume he was just starting) however once he had settled down, both the 2 people who were working previously left him on his own. I went to board my plane at 12:30pm so I’m unaware as to if he ever did get any support.

However for that 30 minutes I did get to see him working, he had to deal with the loud noise coming from the works across from the shop, he had non stop customers, coffees, it looked like he was also cleaning and several other things

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had at an airport food court! As someone with celiac disease, finding safe food options can be really stressful—especially while traveling. But Nahida completely changed that for me. She took the time to explain everything clearly, pointed me to a questionnaire for dietary needs, and even offered to help me fill it out if I had any questions. On top of that, she also asked how I prefer my coffee and was the perfect mix of warm, attentive, and professional. Thank you so much, Nahida!
