We stayed for two nights for a chilled weekend away for me and my partner. We were greeted by Abbey on our first night and check-in was a breeze. Explained how everything worked and our first experience of the hotel was made. Ample on site parking, plenty of disabled bays and electric charging points.
Our room was great. Modern, clean and spacious. Massive bed (way more than a double and so comfortable. The bathroom was lovely also. It's a new hotel so you'd expect it. But everything still looked fresh and new. The decor was perfect and modern, very very functional. Sofas in the foyer and bar area. Tables, High tables and boots in the restaurant/ bar. Three TVs showing a variety of things. Bar prices so reasonable for a hotel. We were very impressed. Staff running breakfast also so efficient. Constantly topping up, clearing away and available to help guests. Breakfast more than adequate. Cooked breakfast, croissants and muffins, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurts and berries, fruit juice and coffee machine all included. One comment was the bacon was a little overdone. But wasn't enough to complain about. We didn't need lunch on the two days we had the breakfast. We ate in the restaurant one evening as prices on par with what you'd pay at a pub anyway, so didn't see the point in going elsewhere. They also have a selection of food items / meals available 24/7, which i thought was great! Served by Abbey again on the bar the second evening who made polite conversation about my day and offered suggestions of things to do. So friendly with a welcoming personality. A credit to the hotel.
Morrisons (with fuel station) is literally a five minute walk (along with home bargains and some other shops. Also believe there's a pub in the same area. Although we didn't investigate.
Took about 20 minutes to get into Cambridge. So wasn't too...
Read moreI have to travel to this area for work quite frequently and my company now no longer allows stays at The Belfry as apparently it's too expensive so across the road me and my colleagues went....||The hotel is still very new so everything is clean, shiny and new. My room was great, bed comfy, loads of power points, the shower is huge and loads of hot water. There is also a great chair and desk combo for those who have work to do. ||The breakfast, while not as large a selection as there is 'across the road' was still very good, cereals, yoghurt and fruit, pastries and muffins, plus scrambled egg (I think it could be powdered egg), sausage, bacon, hash browns and beans. I'm not a coffee drinker but my colleagues assured me the coffee is better here. ||The car park is exceptionally well lit and all rooms seem to face on to it. Also charging for electric vehicles is present.||Only two very small niggles from me and I mean they're tiny....there is no drawer space so the stuff I wasn't hanging got left in my case and the bathroom sink is huge (it's a great sink!) but there's very little room if you like to pop your toiletries around it. Like I said small fry....||Big shout out to Ollie, even without his name badge, I recognised him from his greeting from other TripAdvisor reviews. Very smiley, attentive and friendly. I'll be seeing him again in 2 weeks.||It's definitely worth a visit and...
Read moreLadies and gents, gather around as I regale you with the tale of my stay at the Holiday Inn Cambourne – the unexpected star of the hotel world! 🏨✨
Upon arrival, I noticed their Electric Vehicle (EV) charger – a sleek, modern day steed parking spot, if you will. My EV, named "Wexy," whispered, "It's about time, darling!" Forget bed and breakfast; it’s battery and breakfast nowadays!
The interior? Ah, the classic Holiday Inn charm. I half expected a knight in shining armor to be offering me a mint at reception. Instead, I was greeted by grin, who, between you and me, could rival any knight with his dazzling smile and his unparalleled ability to provide extra towels.
But back to that EV charger! This isn't your grandma's old-school plug-in-the-wall kind of charger. No, siree! It's the 'future is now' kind. You know, the one that makes your car feel like it just had three cups of espresso and is ready to run a marathon. (Actually, just a 7kW).
In summary, the Holiday Inn Cambourne is the place where medieval charm meets futuristic zing. For those of you travelling in your electric chariots, fear not! The Holiday Inn's got your back (and your battery). Charging your phone at 1% while revving up your EV outside? Priceless. 🚗🔌
10/10, would visit again, if only to see my car's excitement at being pampered! Cheers to you, Holiday Inn Cambourne, for bringing the jolts and...
