Monkfield Arms — Restaurant in South Cambridgeshire

We were only visiting as we was staying at the hotel and spa our experience was completely spoiled by the manager with the blue hair I will never understand how someone with such an unfortunate way about them could be appointed as manager she is rude and seem to me like she was constantly spoiling for an argument with customers My partner played the fruit machine and won £50 then it decided to break down we was told by the blue haired manager in an very abrupt way that there is nothing she can do it had been doing this all day and that we would have to return in a few days to collect our winnings Now if this had been breaking on and off through the day why did she allow people to keep playing this machine I work in a pub and this is definitely not how we would conduct our selfs with out customers we explained we don’t live locally but she proceeded to say that’s not her problem so we left and just admitted defeat We returned that evening to have a few drinks with another couple she then made a beeline for us again and said if I was you guys I would go sit outside as she could smell cannabis on us I have never been so offended and embarrassed by someone in my life so after spending money on food and drink to be treated like criminals I will never visit again it now makes sense to me why on a Saturday night you as a business are so quiet you would think being the only pub round that part u should be so busy but with a women with no manners working as management it now makes sense we spoke to a few other couples that had the same experience with her such a nice pub the food was lovely but she completely ruined the experience for us there was another young women also a manager that was absolutely brilliant and could blatantly see the other managers errors and all other staff were great but come on I think some serious staff training is needed for her the worst mannered women ever will not...

I enjoyed coming here with my family, it was comfy enough and the food was really good, although they had run out of some ingredients so I couldn't order the Mega Mix Grill, but I'll give their service a 5 star as all who saw to my families needs were very helpful and courteous, never kept us waiting and the starters came out quick. The only reason for a 4 star on the atmosphere was because we found it a bit cold while sitting at our table. But other than that the place was fine. Toilets were clean. There were quite many people there at the time but there was no excessive noise. The decor is nice and the place is clean enough all round.

We are also very grateful to the management as they had distributed a 30% off of main meals which really helps this time of year.

I do recommend going there for a meal and drink. This is though the only pub in the town of Cambourne in Cambridgeshire.

Plenty of parking as well and is also accessible for wheelchairs.

Booked a table online, no one at the restaurant was aware of this when we turned up, sat down and looked at the menu, we decided what we would like and proceeded to the bar to order, on ordering out some of our items were not available and the pizza oven was out of action even tho all the menus were out, there was nothing or no information about any missing items, undeterred we went back to the drawing board and reordered, when’re something else wasn’t available, I quickly went for another item and paid, sitting down some 10 mins in to our wait, a member of staff came over and said they were also out of the item I wanted again!! We asked why so many items were out on the menu, we were greeted with I don’t know! I eventually did receive something that was available and had what I would describe as just an ok meal it wasn’t fantastic to be honest. We already had a bad taste in our mouths from a poor customer experience so it may of tainted what meal...
