My grandmother lived in the Alonzo Ward on the 4th floor back in the 1970s. While visiting Aberdeen in July 2023, we purposely chose to stay at the newly renovated Ward Hotel. Much character and charm still remains in this beautiful building. The rooms are nicely decorated and so very quiet. Loved the nice bathroom and walk-in shower! The bed was very comfortable, too. Sarah, the General Manager, is delightful and knowledgeable. A dinner outing at the Roma Ristorante, inside the hotel, is a must. The Ward is close to everything and within walking distance of several breakfast eateries (Sammy's) and our favorite, the Red Rooster Coffee House. The Dacotah Prairie Museum is across the street. You'll be delightfully surprised when staying here. Since we live out-of-state we aren't sure when our next visit will take us back to Aberdeen, but we'll stay at the Alonzo Ward Hotel again....
Read moreI had an absolutely great night stay at the Alonzo Ward Hotel this past Saturday night. The hotel is a beautiful building decorated from time gone by, from the old telephone booths to the gorgeous wood throughout the main lobby, as well as the beautiful elevator. The room itself was quiet, comfortable and very clean, all the amenities you would need for a weekend getaway. The room also was decorated very modernly with great cushy carpet! It's situated right on main street in downtown Aberdeen, with a variety of restaraunts and the cutest little shops around (especially Novel Ideas, a new little book store that had recently opened). We also had dinner at Roma, an Italian restaurant, located right on the main floor of the hotel. What an absolutely great meal, wow! We will definitely be staying here again when we are in...
Read moreWe made reservations and were unaware they had placed us in a handicapped room. This was not an issue until we tried to make use of the bathroom. We had no countertop for our electric razor, makeup bag, toothbrushes, etc. It was very frustrating and inconvenient at best. We then went to partake in the continental breakfast. We both had English Muffins. We had no plates, napkins or paper towels to set our muffins in after they were toasted. We had to hold them in our hands and butter them. It was very messy and incredibly inconvenient. We expected more from what we considered one of the nicer hotels in...
