Room was not clean (hairs and burn marks on bed sheet). I asked for two queens and got a single queen. Room was supposed to be a standard room, but received a handicapped room with broken shower head that would not stay in place. This room was also adjoined to the room next door with a door. This was not at all sound proof and we were woke up at 7 AM after just 4 hours of sleep. The person in the next room began coughing uncontrollably and didn't stop for over an hour. There was a foul odor coming from the other room and we eventually took the spare comforter and shoved it down at the bottom of the door to prevent the noise and the odor. Since we could not sleep we thought it would be a good idea to go grab some breakfast and then return back to the room and see if we could get at least another hour of sleep. Breakfast was a bit lackluster and tasted like most of the food was yesterday's leftovers. We also noticed a tip jar over by the food area which I thought was ridiculously tacky as this is supposed to be a self-serve complementary breakfast. After breakfast we returned to our room only to be greeted buy power saws, drills and hammering. Another thing to note was the filthy hallways with spider webs and bugs on the lights as well as stains in the staircase. This was the third holiday in I have stayed at in the last month for business. It was also the highest price at more than double the cost of any other one. It is also the absolute worst hotel I've stayed in in my life. I would highly recommend sleeping in your car before staying here. I wish I could give this zero stars but I'm stuck with one.

This was our first time staying at this hotel, and I can say we were VERY impressed! From the moment we arrived and checked in until the time we left, the staff was very helpful and extremely friendly. Our room was immaculate! I have never seen a hotel room as clean and tidy as ours. The entire hotel, breakfast room, pool, everywhere, were all very clean and modern. We were also very impressed with the choices and quality of food at the free breakfast buffet. There were a few new choices each morning and it was kept well stocked. The pool and hot tub were nice, but the pool itself was a little chilly for us. Our room rates were reasonable for the Traverse City area. It averaged around $86 per night for a two queen bed room with four guests, but it was definitely worth it! Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience or a better place to stay. Thank you Holiday Inn Express and IHG for a wonderful experience for my family!

We stayed here for a long weekend and it was pricey compared to other places we have stayed. We did have to wait to after 4 before the room was ready. Our room was on the third floor with a good view of the bay. The hotel was only 10-15 minutes from downtown Traverse City. The check-in clerk provided a good suggestion of a local place to eat. Our room was fully equipped with microwave and mini frig. The only down side was the AC unit which sounded like coffee grinder. It was so noisy we had to turn it off in order to sleep. We used the pool and hot tub several times. The food bar in the breakfast room was one of the smallest we have seen and at times it was very congested. The hostess was very effective and kept the food trays refilled and the area clean.

We have stayed at hundreds of hotels in the IHG chain and this one would be the worst. From the cold mechanical reception we received, to the condescending comments about the wifi not working, and finally to the shower curtain with 8” in the bath tub, this was a very bad experience. ||The man at the reception desk treated us like he was reading from a script. There was no casual talk about how our day was or why we were in town. Just the usual, “thank you for being a platinum elite member” and the standard protocol to register. When explaining where the elevator was, the script he used was as monotonous for us as it was for the couple ahead of us. This man doesn’t like what he is doing for a living and it shows. ||My husband is a platinum elite IHG member and we didn’t even get a bottle of water offered to us. ||When we got to our room, the wifi wasn’t working. We called down and the same man came to our room to ask a few more questions. He said he’d come back. He did return with a piece of paper and told us we had to call the number. The problem was, he said, was that we both had iPhones. Although we did, my husband could not log on with his Samsung tablet either. We were appalled that he expected us to call some numbers so we could try to get on the wifi. It was his problem and he should have called tech support to have it resolved. When we went out for dinner, we asked him to call for us and that’s when the attitude really came out. He raises his voice at my husband and said we had to call. We’ve never been treated poorly at any other IHG hotel, ever! We had just come from the HI Express in Sault Ste Marie and the folks behind that desk were lovely. Not at Acme!||When we booked, only an accessible room was available. We were surprised to find that the shower curtain was hung so low that 8” of it was in the bathtub. Mmmm I’m sorry but I will not be showering in a tub that has a shower curtain, that has been soaked by strangers wet feet, touching my feet. That is just ewww! I took it out and unfortunately the floor got a little wet. There was no tub mat provided but there was a spare towel. ||It was unfortunate we didn’t leave after the first night but the view of the lake was lovely and we had booked 2 nights so we stayed. The location was pretty good. We did not eat the breakfast at the hotel. ||We rated this visit a 2 because of the lovely view, comfy bed and location. We...

BED BUGS! would give 0 stars if I could. My husband and I stayed here on Thursday night 8/7/25, Room 203. Elevators were out of service. The room appeared clean, however my husband stayed up late on his phone, and saw a bug crawl over the pillow behind his bed. He thought it was the size of a bed bug or tick. Unfortunately he opted not to turn the lights on so as to avoid waking me up, and he tried to catch/squish the bug but it escaped. In the later morning he mentioned it to me, neither of us had ticks on us, however a few hours later I developed rapidly enlarging weeping welts on my upper arm. I happen to be allergic to one thing in life: bed bugs. And have had experience working in home health over 10 years ago, leading to repeated exposure to bed bugs and increased sensitivity to the bites. Considering the allergic reaction I have developed to bed bugs (requiring a course of prednisone to stop the local swelling) I have had to learn a lot about bed bugs. It's important to understand that a local skin reaction to a bed bug bite varies widely between individuals - some people mount literally no response at all (no bump, welt, or itching) whereas the other end of the spectrum like myself is that it triggers an IgE-mediated reaction leading to the more severe swelling, wheal formation, and blistering. I am very disappointed with how the management of this hotel handled my husbands and my phone calls about the bed bug spotting. They were dismissive, said they "investigated" and did not find evidence of any bugs. Of course, a low level of infestation is very difficult to spot with a visual inspection and an "investigation" should never be carried out by a jack-of-all-trades type of exterminator. The industry standard for detection of any level of bed bugs is to have inspection by a certified bed bug sniffing dog. Otherwise bed bugs are incredibly difficult to identify until they turn into a large scale infestation. But by that time many people have been exposed either to the bites, or taking a "hitchhiker" home in their luggage. This review could have been avoided if the manager had been concerned, reached out, provided more details, or in other ways had not dismissed our concerns. I recommend avoiding this hotel...

BEWARE!!!! Second time around, always love giving second chances but this service was very neglectful. I notified staff of a Gas leak , instead of addressing the issue they masked the issue with scented sprays, but their was still the presence of natural gas up the hallway. The pool area is never clean, its build up of dirt makes the floors look like they haven’t been cleaned since last visit of over a year ago, there was spilled coffee on the pool tiles that never got cleaned. I guess Im just very irritated with the cleanliness of this hotel, not to mention that some areas of the hotel make you wonder how they are up to code on some of their fire preventatives. Last time I checked rusted sprinklers were a code violation and a gas leak warranted the fire department to inspect, not a in house maintenance guy. The lamp light in the hot tub was completely exposed, not secure at all in the hot tub, wires visible. The hot tub was broken but all that hot water was pouring into the pool! The 24/7 coffee and staff at your finger tips is super mis leading, Now Doug is the best, but all other staff not a fan of their “hospitality” . I would give Doug 5 stars all day but the hotel gets 1 star from me and my peeps! The bathrooms don’t have ventilation so keep your hot showers under 5 minutes, the location is secluded to anyone who feels that seclusion warrants theft or break-ins. I can assure you it wont happen at this one but just a heads up. The food was not above par, we were provided spoiled milk at the “continental breakfast” and the coffee is always cold and old. Called and told them the milk was spoiled and was brushed off because he had another call on the line. GoodLuck to anyone...
