This IS a DEPLORABLE facility. This review is for the Candlewood Suites hotel in Alexandria, Louisiana, part of the InterContinental Hotels (IHG) Group. ||This is by far the worst IHG property I have ever stayed at. I am a Elite IHG member who, over many years have stayed at MANY different IHG properties. The ONLY good thing about this property is I got to escape the next day. ||Major rust on all metal bathroom fixtures. |* |Bathroom mirror had a 2" wide strip unprofessionally glued and taped along the bottom of main mirror to COVER UP the major age spots on the mirror.||The lamp shade next to the bed was cracked several places on the main face side and on one side It looked like it may have been hit hard several times. Only 1 of 2 of this fixture's bulbs were working.||The bathroom exhaust fan was as loud as a gas powered weed eater. ||The refrigerator compressor sounded like an idling large diesel truck. It rumbled on an off all night since I could not reach the power plug to turn it off. ||The room air conditioner ALSO sounded like a diesel truck idling.||The TV was VERY UNPROFESSIONALLY mounted on the wall with coiled up cables, wires and cable TV box just dangling below.||The exterior of room doors (hallway side) to at least 6 other hotel rooms had golf ball sized and larger dents and rust on several as I walked down the hall. ||The large full floor to ceiling windows at the entrance to the hotel were so dirty they looked like they have never been cleaned. ||A LARGE house keeping trash bin overflowing with full large trash bags was parked 15' from the hotel guest elevator entrance from the early PM hours though the night and was there, full of trash, the next morning.||The long rug at the entrance to the hotel was filthy with easily visible debris. ||One interior hallway corner bottom was so damaged that white sheet rock powder dusted the floor for several inches.|*|Why has IHG NOT inspected this property? IHG should immediately divest itself of this deplorable property. It is a DISGRACE to the other good quality and well maintained IHG properties I have stayed at. I will NEVER stay at any Candlewood Suites again and will actively tell others to...
Read moreI travelled from Alabama to Louisiana to do business with the DMV. I stayed at your establishment for one night, well just a few hours. While in transit I became lost. By the time I made it to Candlewood Suites it was around 5:00 a.m. My family and I were exhausted. The receptionist, Ms. Eva began to talk, and I expressed to her the reason for my visit. She ssked me did I have an appointment with DMV??? I told her no. She told me that I have to have an appointment with DMV.. I told her no. She then with another lady in the lobby joined in the discussion and confirmed what the receptionist told me. The receptionist, Ms. Eva said "Let me see what I can do." She told me and my husband to take our things to our room with the kind lady lady in the hotel lobby volunteering to assist with our bags to our designated room. Ms. Eva asked me to come back down. I did and Ms. Eva had made me an appointment for the same day when I checked out. She even went on to give me a longer checkout time. Bless het heart. I didn't want to get lost leaving back to Albama, and that I wanted to return driving only highway. She then told me to check at the front desk prior to my departure and she will have that information for me. She told me to check with Ms. Elaine. I did. Ms. Elaine was so kind and had my paperwork waiting for me with a map attached and driving directions for the highway back to my destination. I want to commend your staff especially Ms. Eva who went above and beyond for a stranger. She felt compassion for me, and I know her kindness was sincere. No hotels, and I've stayed at MANY, have ever shown me the excellent customer service I received from Ms. Eva. She touched my heart deeply. The room was amazing. The beds were unbelievably soft and tight. Just right. If I could rate your establishment a 10 I would, but just know you are, and more!!! I will be staying at Candlewood Suites Alexandria every time my business bring me there. Thank you for hiring Ms. Eva definitively deserve a raise...
Read moreI want to give a positive, shout out to the short-black haired lady that works the front desk I believe on the day shift. She was always a delight, always made it a point to be welcoming, also made up for the problem we experienced the night before. So grateful to her. Stayed here once before back in Decemeber, it was decent. A lot better than this experience. However, booked 2 rooms, drove 12.5 hours reserving the rooms well over 10 hours in advanced. Got there at almost 4 am to find out, they only booked 1 room for me(I booked 2), and that the 1 room they did book had been given away. To top it off, a golf tournament in town, has booked almost every other room in town. So now driving around Alexandria(being told I either have to wait until checkout in the morning to even find anything or drive over another hour away, which is an additional 1.5 hours from the job site) I had two confirmation emails telling me my rooms were ready and waiting, now we're stuck in the truck. Not to mention the front desk woman was unapologetic, seemed more inconvenienced than we did. Update: The overnight desk lady, offered us a room that was deemed "out of order" because of a leaking roof with the comment "it shouldn't rain tonight". (Which it did in fact down pour, so glad we just chose the truck instead) The next day we saw her, after we finally got our rooms, she rubbed it in our faces saying "she told us we wouldn't find another hotel". It's one thing to make a mistake(even though she insisted it was the person on shift before her's fault). However, be professional, and apologetic when it comes to a paying customer that wasn't rude to you, and was actually...
