With the sea of Mexican style establishments in CENLA, it's hard to be "WOWed". Not to put the others down at all! Each has their own sense of flavors, textures, different selections, differences in ambiance and levels of service, ect. But when another one pops up, I think we all have the same thought, "Really another one?". That was honestly the reason why I believe I put off trying Pedro's for so long. We had our favorites and we pretty much stuck to them. That said, Pedro's really does WOW you before you even get to the door. There are tables and chairs (and fans, important for those summer days) setup on a gorgeous outside patio. Once inside you really get that sense of "WOW" as you observe the beauty and grandeur that is inside (especially compared to how it used to look when it was Ryan's/Fire Mountain). The decor and wall art is amazing, it is clean and tidy, and the size is truly something to behold. But no restaurant review would be worth its weight in tequila salt without mentioning the food. I had the pork carnitas, which were amazing! They came with a sort of bean soup which was equally amazing! The chips and salsa were, to me, perfect. Which leads me to the only complaint, my girlfriend did mention the salsa was "a bit too spicy" for her liking, but a small bowl of queso was an easy fix for that! She thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. The prices were very reasonable. And last but not least, the waitress and the rest of the staff were very friendly, and the service was top notch! Overall, I will say it was an amazing experience, and we will be back! I am a tad disappointed in myself for not trying...
Read moreNice staff and styling of the restaurant, but bland and overpriced food.
The overall interior and exterior of the restaurant is very appealing to the eyes. The 2 outdoor seating areas are covered and didn't appear to be too cramped. The inside is very clean and feels like a more upscale resturant.Leather booths and chairs, well lit, and overall great ambience. Maybe that's why it's on the pricer side.
I personally don't like really spicy salsa, but their salsa is too sweet. It has little to no spice and left much to be desired.
I ordered the grilled chicken quesadilla with rice and refried beans. The refried beans and rice were good, but not amazing. However, the quesadilla was very bland and small. The tortilla appears to have been very lightly grilled as it was very white and not a toasty brown. The meat and cheese inside had no flavor. Overall, the meal was definitely not worth the $13 price tag.
Also, while I did not personally try it, another person in my party ordered steak fajitas and they said it was very tough. So I don't believe the poor taste is limited to just the one dish I ordered.
Overall, I do not reccomend eating at...
Read moreWe went there for the music, we wanted to sit at the bar. It was full. We sit in a booth. They brought out chips and dip. Then my friend ordered an alcoholic beverage, & cheese dip, I ordered tea. We didn't ask for the chips and was charged for them 😡$2.99 and dip 5.99. each 2 cheese dips were extra but $6 a tiny bowl for 2? Her alcohol drink was $20 oh my goodness REALLY??? My tea was $10 dollars -TEA??? Highway robbery. Won't ever go back. The head waitress didn't speak very good English. To charge that much for free chips and dip, alcohol drink $20 is ridiculous. Other places charge $10 This restaurant needs to explain chips and dip isn't free. You will loose business. The ladies bathroom is too small. And dirty. The air conditioning must not been working,it was hot. Parking area is uneven. Needs lines to show where parking is. This restaurant isn't set up correctly. Needs to go to restaurant school and learn how to separate dining in and music/bar separate. Have special s that doesn't rob you. I could have gotten better service from...
