I took my family to the Pitt Grill location in Alexandria, LA looking for comfort food and an enjoyable atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but comfortable and enjoyable. In fact, the experience was bad enough I will most likely never go there again. We arrived at PG's at 6:55 pm. We seated ourselves and a young lady named "Heather B." introduced herself as our waitress and took our drink orders: 2 root beers, a Coca-Cola, and a Dr. Pepper. "Heather B." returned with 3 root beers and a Coca-cola. We politely pointed out the mistake and "Heather B." returned with the correct drinks and took our order. This was the last time we saw "Heather B." inside the restaurant. After about 30 minutes, my oldest son had finished his drink and having seen no signs of our disappearing waitress, he went to the front counter and got a refill. After 40 minutes, everyone else had finished their drinks and were still waiting patiently for the return of our missing waitress. Don't worry, though - we had plenty of entertainment! There was one other family dining in a booth, along with about 4 single male customers seated at the counter. There were 3 other waitresses working and all 3 of them stayed behind the counter, flirting and talking to the men seated there - in hopes, I can only assume, of getting larger tips. Meanwhile, these 3 waitresses continued to glance our direction but otherwise completely ignore us. 30 more minutes passed, bringing us up to an hour and 10 minutes with "Heather B." having only come to our table to get our original drinks. Being completely fed up by the utter incompetence displayed by the waitstaff, my family decided to leave. My wife was nice enough to pay for the drinks - had it been left up to me, I would have walked out without paying at all. The waitress who rang up the ticket tried to ask my wife what food we had ordered... as if she somehow thought we were going to pay for cold food that had never gotten served to us. Oddly enough, we did see "Heather B." again as we were leaving... She was hanging out smoking behind the building with someone I assume was one of the cooks. I sincerely hope "Heather B." enjoyed the entire pack of cigarettes she must have smoked over the course of those 50 or so minutes that my family sat waiting unserved. Service problems usually trickle down from the management to the staff, and this was almost definitely a case of an inattentive manager doing absolutely nothing to ensure staff are doing any work at all. I am leaving a 1 star review, but don't be mistaken - that's only because the site will not allow me to leave a zero or negative star review. Pitt Grill used to be a really decent comfort-food diner, but it has snowballed down hill. The men's restroom was trashed with paper towels all over the floor, and I am not sure if the air-conditioner was broken or if we actually had entered some sort of literal Hell, given how hot the air was and how poor the service was. I can not stress enough how much I would NOT recommend Pitt Grill to anyone looking for a decent or even tolerable dining experience. There are other places in Alexandria where the food is just as good, the prices are slightly lower, and you can actually get -...
Read moreI came across this little restaurant along the road by chance while looking for breakfast besides McDonalds while in Alexandria for a doctor's appointment for my daughter. I must say after arriving I found it very clean inside and there was plenty of seating. After a very short bit ..my daughter and I were greeted by our very friendly waitress "Jenny".. I ordered coffee for myself and a coke for my daughter then ordered my daughter the Kids Menu Shorty which was a double stack pancake and sausage link.. I ordered a house special which had 2 sausage links, 2 eggs and 2 biscuit smothered in white gravy along with 2 extra sausage patties.. the food arrived very quickly and I have to say it was some of the best home cooking breakfast on the road... If you are driving by or staying in the area for any time.. I Highly Recommend this place to stop and eat..They have breakfast and a lunch/dinner menu available...KUDOS Pitt Grill
Update for 6-14-24 My daughter and I stopped by for a 2nd round from the first.. the food was still good and prepared as ordered.. but the waitress we had seemed a bit pre occupied.. We were ready to order as soon as we sat down..but was told we had to wait in the order others sat down first and wasn't ready to order..so we had to wait even though we had a doctors appointment to get to from being out of town.. so we waited and waited and felt we got placed on the back burner to be after others just laughing and gossiping and not ordering.. I feel this was a poor practice..especially when some folks are literally in a hurry.. I would say if management is reading this..work on this practice because it kinda sucks.. but still not to knock the establishment ..good food and good prices.. I almost want to drive the 1 1/2 hours just...
Read moreWe were craving Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches, and instead of grub hubbing it, decided to dine in person....its been a very long time for me and I was not disappointed! Hands down, it was the best Philly I've had locally....the bread....omg the bread! It was what we were craving. The steakhouse style sweet potato fries we crisp but soft on the inside....a lot of places can't seem to get this right...i cant say enough.
There is a 10% gratuity figured in and you have to pay first....but do not let this dissuade you....its well worth it...this is unfortunately a necessity these days...
Our server, "Rho," was very personable and attentive....the atmosphere was authentic, and the people were real. Culturally diverse and welcoming....its the kind of place where, no matter what you look like or what your status is, if you want to belong there, you will!
The Coffee....its nothing fancy but its absolutely perfect....if you are craving that down home rich Louisiana cup of coffee in the kind of coffee mug you just cant find any more, this is the place!
Also...TIP your servers because it goes directly into their pockets, unlike a lot of places!!
I plan to become a regular ...hope to see you there! Also, the busy times widget for google maps was very accurate...the widget said the restaurant was not overly busy and it was accurate....the atmosphere was just right for my liking based on this information.... intimate privacy but with the comforting feeling of having others around.
Do not overlook...
