I originally booked our room because of the bar and restaurant, after we had booked our room and arrived at the hotel, they did tell us it was closed, and that it was noted on your website page, after going back and looking it is at the top and very light gray would not have noticed that as when you open the page I am booking your room , that was disappointing should have been in more bold letters,

When we arrived, we tried to check in 45 minutes early we were not ask our names, and we were told there was no early check-in's due to spring break, and then proceeded to ask for a small office or conference room that we could do a quick business meeting over zoom. They also said that was not available, it wasn't until I asked for front desk supervisor to speak with her, and when she looked up our room, she said oh yes, that our room was ready. I feel like this should have at least been looked at with the original Employee that was checking us in.

Next, y'all have an online service that allows you to check in and take pictures of drivers license scan , so that everything is done however, at check and we had to repeat this process after I have already giving a picture of my drivers license and paying for the hotel seems like the check-in process online is kind of pointless

Most disappointing beds are uncomfortable spring mattresses that need to be replaced, pillows are very lengthy, an old and uncomfortable . The carpet in our room was disgusting, several stains everywhere, looked very dirty. I would advise you to get rid of the carpet in general or if you're going to have carpet at least have it cleaned .

The hotel itself is a cute concept when the bar restaurant and patio are all able to be used, but needs to...

After a week of hiking in Big Bend, my husband & I drove through Alpine to have our "nice" honeymoon dinner at Holland Century Bar& Grill. After ordering, the power went out & we sat in total darkness. The server & hostess came over & informed us that they don't know why the power is out, but our meal would be free/comped if we washed to stay. Sure, we said, too late yo go anywhere else. The food came out & it was too dark even with our phones to eat our $38 steak. Finally, after an hour or so, the power came back on. The steak was overcooked & cold, like all of the food. So I just left it. At least we didn't pay for it. A half hour later, when my husband and I had left the restaurant & were sitting in the lobby by the fire, the server (who we tipped 25% on what we WOULD have paid), comes out of the restaurant with a bill. He had told us (as had the hostess) that our meal would be comped about 4-6 times. We couldn't have taken advantage & ordered the bottle of wine we originally wanted to have, but though it bad form/rude/inappropriate to do so knowing they couldn't ring it up. So we intentionally avoided ordering more. We skipped the dessert I wanted and everything. Yet, this man who told us multiple times that our cold, overcooked $38 steaks would be coped is now coming after us to pay the tab???? How inappropriate, rude, bad business. We both worked in the industry for over a decade, fine dining. We NEVER would have done this. Ruined the whole experience of our "nice honeymoon dinner" & I didnt even get to eat my fancy steak, which I would never ever order except for this occasion. ...

Well. … we have always loved coming here until today … we came in at 8pm on a Wednesday as a family of 5 to have dinner and was promptly seated. However, a few minutes later the host came over and tried to graciously to apologize for his “chef’s” bad mood but that he had decided to close the kitchen early at 8:30 for no reason and we could not be served. Fine, so as we got up to leave we see smaller parties sat for 2 or 3 at the bar. So ok … we are in a small town and have limited dining options of quality food and we have always had positive past experiences here and didn’t want to result to fast food. But nor did we cause a fuss when the host told us you decided to close early because “the chef” was in a “bad mood” and no longer wanted to cook. What is bothersome is you sat other parties and took food orders after us. So … after we got in our car and had a minute to realize what just took place my husband did go back in and then got a whole different story … so you didn’t want to serve a party of our size. Sooo you just lied to us instead and “blamed” it on the chef cause it’s a face we don’t see? And then when we ask for a manager .. they have gone home for the evening. Ok Holland Hotel - I am a General Manager for Marriott. I brought my family here to get away from big city and enjoy small town hospitality- well, you explain to your kids why we have to leave a restaurant and can’t eat but other people are being seated and ordered food. At the end the day I am just so sad as this was one of my most favorite places to eat when we...

This is an old hotel so you have to expect that there are some quirky things, like bad bathroom ventilation and a wall mounted A/C system. And yes, you can hear trains, because the train tracks are literally across the street. However, none of those were big issues (even if updated insulated windows would help with train noise). Actual problems: There was no desk attendant throughout our entire stay (check-in & check-out). It may seem nit picky, but we actually needed help figuring out parking and there was noone to ask and no instructions on the hospitality folder left in the room. There also was no phone in the room to call the front desk. It also felt weird to have your room left open before you arrive and then just dropping the key off in a random basket when you leave. And since we couldn't tell anyone about the room condition during our stay, we resort to doing it here. The room itself had a stained shower curtain (rusty red like it had lots of soaks in mineral rich bath water), lots of dust on the TV (that we had to look behind because it didn't work when we first came to the room) and my mom found a dryer sheet in the bedding on the very lumpy mattress (glad you wash the sheets but it still was a weird find). Overall a cute place that feels like it suffers from a lack of staff.

We had originally booked for the sister property of the Holland at the Maverick Inn but were disappointed with the location. We spoke to the person on duty named Rain there at the Holland about switching locations for us because we really didn't feel very safe at the Maverick location and she was wonderful about helping us. Rain was the only person running both hotels by herself and it wasn't slow either! But she took the time to understand our problem and ended up switching our stay over to the Holland. She was great to work with and very kind. As for the accommodations well it's a very old hotel so you have to keep that in mind but it's historical and a very charming hotel. We enjoyed our stay but we did not enjoy the showers. They seemed dirty and they need to be resurfaced asap. You also won't find any restaurant in the hotel or room service. We also didn't have heat in the room as the heater was broken but again Rain to the rescue and she brought us two very good electric space heaters that kept the room warm and toasty. If you're ok with a small room and tv for just a night or two you should be fine but I don't think I personally would stay any longer.
