The Ritchey Wine Saloon and Beer Garden has apparently recently opened in a renovated historic railroad hotel. It's a comfortable place with a nice beer garden outside, clean restrooms, and a saloon inside that makes me imagine hanging out at the Jersey Lilly Saloon. We happened to randomly stop in during an after dinner walk around town. The evening started off as one would expect with a little people watching of locals mixed with travelers as I enjoyed my beer. What I didn't expect was to have one of the most profound bar experiences ever. In this simple bar in a smallish town in far west Texas, we had hours of entertaining and thought provoking conversations with friendly patrons as well as Mark (behind the bar). The outdoor patio has a stage and there is generally live music - the second story patio is the best sunset spot in town (very few 2 story bldgs in alpine - and fewer still that give such a clear view of the west) Sadly - food is hit or miss - but when you are lucky - the tacos are amazing !
