On a positive note, the staff was very pleasant however that were the good review ends. I hate writing poor reviews however, it's difficult not to in this situation.
Our initial room (#105) was full of ants in the bathroom. The asst. mgr. was very helpful and immediately moved us to a second room (w/ no ants).
Our second room (#205) was quite frankly unacceptable however, by the time we discovered all the issues we were far too tired after traveling to move all of our luggage again! After checking for ants (there were none), we immediately went out for dinner. After driving 2.5 hours to get to the hotel, one room change, going out to find a place to eat, we simply didn't know how dirty the room was until we were settling in later in the evening. My husband was having heart surgery on the following day. It was just too much in our world to deal with another room move!!!
Here's the list of issues w a few pictures:
*Our bathroom had black mold in the tub/shower, the dirt build-up around the bathroom floor moldings was disgusting and inexcusable. *The bathroom sink drain was virtually clogged it was so very slow to drain. (Any cleaning person would have noticed the slow drain!!!! One couldn't run the sink water for a moment w/o obvious back up!!! Anyone cleaning the sink would have had to wait for the sink to drain with even the smallest amount of water in it.) *There were strands of long, black hair on the bathroom floor! We don't have black hair!!! The back of the bathroom door was literally peeling apart, with the wood laminate peeling off with the appearance of water damage and potential mold. Zero excuse for this door to be left on this condition. Based on what we saw in the bathroom I can only imagine what was on the carpet. We kept our slippers on at all times we were so 'grossed out'. *Additionally, all the furniture was stained and the "mood lighting" didn't work. *At least the sheets appeared to be washed however they had blood stains on one of the beds. *Last but not least your sign on the bathroom mirror states "COMPLIMENTARY HOUSEKEEPING UPON REQUEST". Seriously??? The sign is articulated as if you're doing me a big favor!!! Housekeeping is part of the price of the room; therefore it is never complimentary!!!!! From my observations noted above it would appear that housekeeping is rarely done with any competency, nor inspected my management!
As noted, with my husband's heart surgery, we were simply too pre-occupied to deal with the poor housekeeping management. I stayed at the hotel the second night by myself since my husband was hospitalized. By the time I got back to the hotel I was too tired to say a word much less move to another room. I had surmised that it would be likely that all the rooms would be in similar condition. Upon checkout I politely explained to the front desk person my findings. He politely said he would...
Read moreI would give a negative star if I could. Dirty rooms, housekeeping only comes in once during a 4 night stay. Bathroom is very small similar to a powder room. Towels are old, rough and many many many years old. Breakfast is skint and they stop making hot food an hour before the cut off time even if there are many guests still entering the breakfast room (which doubles as a front lounge) and because of this, I heard one guest say he had no time to wait and so he decided to go buy himself and his son a McDonald's breakfast. If you're a part of the team, you will be subject to harassment from the night staff. Our group was harassed each night by at least three different staff. We were sitting in the front lounge having a cup of tea quietly having our conversation when we, along with some male guests not part of our group, were told to leave the lounge as they were closing it. We were then told to go back to our rooms just as our children were told to do so as well. I recently learned that Jesse C. called the police on us when four of us mothers were sitting in the front (following being told to leave the lounge), two of us had tea, one didn't have any thing, and the fourth was just finishing up a fruit soda. Jesse told the police that we were outside being rowdy and drinking when we were just sitting out enjoying the night air and watching our kids play next door. If you would like more details, many others can confirm my account. Please do not spend your money here. There are so many other hotels to stay at but not this one. I have to question the validity of the positive reviews written here when we have had the most disrespectful experience we have ever encountered and we are experienced frequent travellers. Unfortunately, we will never return and neither will our group of at least a dozen, and we will be pursuing the matter further. I am sure the hotel will likely respond to this review with some generic customer service based blurb and deny everything. We paid over $200 per night only to be harassed and disrespected. The unwelcome and unappreciated treatment by staff made me feel as though they were doing us a favour yet we are the paying guests who pay their salaries and keep the business afloat.
I hope this particular hotel goes out of business. It is so old anyway, it should...
Read moreI travel for work and stay at hotels 30-80 nights per year, and our experience at "Larkspur Landing Ann Arbor" was among the most pitiful I can remember.||A week before checking in, I noticed that I was unable to google the Hampton Inn - Ann Arbor North that I'd stayed at several uneventful times before and where we'd made a reservation for a football weekend. I quickly learned the hotel had changed ownership and left Hilton, which was never shared with us via email or an Orbitz message. After learning of the change, I came to Trip Advisor and read the ghastly recent reviews. Because this was a football weekend we'd booked six months in advance and there were no vacancies in Ann Arbor one week before the game, we decided to go through with our reservation, which for two rooms at two nights each came out to $1900. Robbery!||Upon arriving at the hotel, we were informed that the key card readers were down, and that a front desk associate would have to escort us to our room any time we wanted to enter. This continued for two days. If I was a female solo traveler, I wouldn't have felt safe. In our room, the bathroom tiles were broken and loose, and all edges of furniture were frayed and chipped away. It was clear this wasn't Hilton furniture that remained, but rather second-rate items procured at a discount.||Because Hilton removed their property, there were no room number placards. Every room in the hotel was written in sharpie on a piece of paper and affixed to the wall adjacent to the door.||Our "do not disturb" sign was left on the door until 8am, at which point we removed it and left the hotel to go into town for the game. We returned that night after a long day of walking to two messy rooms. No housekeeping was provided.||When I called the general manager the Monday after our weekend trip, I left a voicemail that went unreturned.||It is inexcusable that each room came out to $950 for our two-night stay. We booked this expecting a Hilton/Hampton Inn standard (the Hampton Inn on the south side of town is excellent), and instead had room numbers written on the door. I'd never seen that before. Heed these reviews and avoid this hotel until a certain standard of hospitality is...
