While the cabin was originally nice, there were some issues with things like missing screens in many of the windows which already lets in a lot of bugs like mosquitos. The real problem, though, was that on the last night of our stay, we discovered a bed bug infestation in one of the main sleeping areas. While we had cleaned the house for departure the night before, we now had to sterile clean our clothing and linens to avoid spreading the infestation, causing us to be late on departure. The owner, Cecelia, was notably unconcerned about the HEALTH CODE VIOLATION and SAFETY ISSUE when we brought it promptly to her attention. Furthermore, she was extremely rude to us in her demands that we leave immediately for the next guests, despite the fact that allowing guests into a property that has a known bed bug infestation (we showed her images of the bugs and bites) would constitute a violation of WA state law. I just found this an odd thing to be dismissive of, and rude to the whistleblowers over. Responsible property managers should never prioritize quick profit over public health.
EDIT: As I am licensed in invertebrate (and vertebrate, vegetation both acquatic and terrestrial) pest control, I am surprised to hear that a professional pest control company that supposedly visited while we were still there (we saw no such individual) claimed a confirmation of not having bed bugs. This is just not how it's done, as proving negatives is just...not how things work. Instead, if we are unable to confirm claims of pests, we suggest other measures, such as environmental controls and engineering to mitigate the impact from the pest. I think you should find a new pest control company if they only tell you what you want to hear.
Bed bugs are manageable if you take the problem seriously. This is what we were doing out of necessity that triggered our late departure.
Also I know the difference between mosquito bites, spider bites (Which don't even bite people in their sleep. Why would you bite the ground?), bed bug bites, and shingles. That and the physical bed bugs that we showed you makes this an...

Being frequent travelers, we stay in a lot of rentals and this one is by far the best outfitted place we've ever stayed. From the quality furnishings to the curated decor to the views, we couldn't have been happier.
Baker Haus has the very best-stocked kitchen ever, with an impressive variety of dishes and glasses. A huge spice rack is provided, and the cupboards are full of more spices and seasonings. They even stock foil & plastic wrap, which is a rarity in rentals. The kitchen appliances are upgraded and nice.
We grade hard on bedding and seek out nice mattresses and linens, and BH did not disappoint. Same for the towels, both bath and kitchen.
The sauna and hot tub are huge bonuses; we used both and were pleased that both were clean and in good working order.
Be prepared for the game room of your dreams: pool table, pop a shot, billiards, darts, and a huge vinyl collection and a record player are on offer . It''s a short walk to creek, and the lawn chairs are a nice feature. It's easy to hopscotch among the rocks to navigate the creek for better photos ops, and the sound of the creek is delightful. The woods are heavy yet the grounds are maintained so you get the lush foliage that's easy to maneuver through.
So many thoughtful touches throughout, including details on how to handle a power outage and ideas for activities if you are without power.
What a wonderful spot, especially...
Read moreIn Feb of 2021, we worked with Cecelia Carson at Mt Baker Getaways to book a large cabin for our intimate wedding reception in July. We signed a contract and paid her a down payment for the space. We were also going to do our rentals through her and had that planned out. One month before our wedding, I was on their website to look through the cabin photos and noticed the cabin we rented was no longer on the site. I reached out to Cecelia to ask why/if she had any updates for us and she informed us that our cabin was no longer available for our wedding. She claimed she had planned to close on the property earlier that spring and it didn’t go through. Meaning, we signed a contract and she took our money for a property she didn’t even own!!! I am not sure if she would have even told us if I hadn’t reached out myself. She did give us our money back but we were then left with 1 month to find a new space to host our reception and find rentals, etc. We were so lucky to find a replacement that worked great, but it took days of phone calls/planning as we basically had to replan our entire wedding day in one month. All in all, this is probably the worst interaction I have ever had dealing with a “business”. Cecelia was unprofessional, rude, a poor communicator and caused us so much stress as we were trying to plan our wedding from across the country. I recommend anyone looking here...
