I have enjoyed other really nice Windgates, particularly in Fredericksburg, VA off of I-95. Windgate doesn't have uniform standards. The Good: I needed a shower and a bed. The shower was NICE: Good water pressure, quantity, and temps! The bed was very comfortable. That's it. The gentleman at check-in was courteous and pleasant. The Bad: The desk chair was GROSS; not able to be sat in. Dilapidated!! The desk has STAINS. The carpet has STAINS. The walls have STAINS. The bathroom is dark. An 8" hair is stuck to the bathroom mirror. The refrigerator was too loud for me to sleep with it on. The TV stand holding the fridge is falling apart, complete with hinges still on from a door that is no longer there. The fire alarm went off at 2:00 a.m.!! My phone couldn't call 0, Front Desk, or Guest Servicez. INOP. The nice, pleasant lady at the desk explained the was dirt on pipes that caused the alarm; they're fixing it now, she said with a chuckle! ??? Embarrassed? She said most of the room phones don't work at all. What?? The breakfast area was poor. I'll go to McDonald's instead. During my reservation process, I called the hotel from the website but instead got someone (Barbara?) who reserves ALL chain properties. She couldn't give me what I asked for across the street, but she gave me one close. She had NO IDEA. She "gave me" a cancelation ability; I didn't need it. Then I learned that has a $12.50 charge!! Website has an ability to get that refunded. I tried 4 times. No ability seems to exist. I'm disappointed and a little angry. I won't stay here again and probably not at a Windgate ever again.

This hotel was a second thought after I went to my first choice and it turned out to be a dive. So I decided if I’m going to spend a little bit more money I’m going to enjoy the amenities of the room. I made sure that I had a jet tub to help my sore muscles after a long drive. I wasn’t very pleased with the fact that there was no masking going on and I was told that it’s everybody’s right to choose their own protection. I wonder if that also applies to the mold that was in the bathroom because all they needed was a little bit of bleach on the caulking to minimize the black mold that was sitting on it. I was also advised that I was lucky to be staying there because all the other hotels in the area were severely dated and never upgraded. But then added to this was that this hotel was also dated. An example of it being dated was the worn out chairs and headboards, the scratched furniture, the mold on the caulking in the bathroom, the severely caulked toilet base, and the run down parking lot. Was it worth what I spent? I got to tell you I slept pretty well even though the bed was a little lumpy. The sheets were soft and cool and having that soaking tub was amazing. Hopefully I won’t get anything from this place being dated but it was a welcome relief compared to some of the other places in town

Arrived at Wingate and was unsure where to park as the parking lot was old and had no lines for where to park. Entered in to a musty, old cigarette smell. As I approached the reception desk it was visibly unkept and unmanned. A few minutes later a gentleman arrived from the back seemingly unhappy with my interruption to whatever he was doing. Nonetheless, it was an uncomplicated check in process. I did notice a sign that stated that room cleaning was unavailable unless you had a 5 day minimum stay. It also stated they would supply bath linens when requested. We entered through the side door and was met with that familiar musty smell. The stairwell was filthy and the window sill had an old condiment cup and some dead insects. We entered our second floor room to find yet another dirty floor, extremely dated furniture, and a slow draining tub. I’m really trying to find something to compliment at this point. We found ourselves in need of ice… surprise… the machine is broken and need to acquire from the front desk. They do provide a breakfast but we were not sure what that would look like and did not have an appetite with all we were hit with here. We will never return and are honestly shocked that Wyndham would put their name on this building. Enough said.

The “general manager” Kim Goff is extremely unprofessional, scamming, dishonest, and scheming representative of Wingate by Wyndham hotels. If you look at other reviews, this general manager is the reason this business is rated so low and cannot improve.

After checking in and going to our room, we quickly discovered that the electrical outlets and TV does not work. We went to the front desk and they told us the TV has not worked since days before we arrived. They told us the electrical outlets do not work and they are in need of renovations. We requested a different room with the same amenities that work. They could not accommodate this request and offered a different room with one bed and an inferior pullout instead of our two beds.

Of course this is not the same amenity, so we requested a refund so we can go elsewhere. The service desk called the “general manger” Kim Goff and she did not want to lose the booking so she refused to refund and offered $20 off. How can you expect a customer to settle for something less than you originally offered? If you cannot offer the service or goods promised at the agreed price then just cancel the transaction would be the proper action. She would not even talk to us and told her front desk to tell us to call back next week.

We called their customer care hotline then and there and they tried to talk to the front desk to assist us. Unfortunately since this business is handled thru the “general manager” Kim Goff, customer care cannot make the refund transaction and only provides a reference number. We will continue to reach out to the “general manager” Kim Geoff’s management and up until the correct action will be taken.

The “general manager” Kim Goff is a fraud and gets away with scamming customers. How this business currently operates is based on scamming and dishonesty. This company needs to investigate this “general manager” Kim Goff, interview the employees and make the right decision. We will continue to file a claim to get a refund for a service that was never given.

Please do yourself a favor and avoid this particular business at all cost. Avoid the “general...

Overall this place is still a tad shabby but has the essentials for a pleasant stay. It could be a lot worse if you look at some of the other places nearby. The issues here are pretty minor so I would stay here again.

The good: Apart from some buildup on the showerhead the Bathroom was surprisingly pristine and appeared recently renovated.

Bed was actually really very comfortable and seemed clean. I alsp really liked the pillows.

The bad: The room was musty and humid and required airing out when I arrived, and when I returned in the evening. The AC blows cold but it is old and dirty. Due to this the carpet felt a little gross.

I strongly recommend management replaces the AC units in the rooms and also replace the in-room carpeting with a hard flooring. It seems like they are still making improvements so I hope to see this next time.

The chairs throughout the hotel are in bad shape, honestly, they need to be reupholstered or replaced (not dangerous, just old) But it didn't impact my stay, really.

The showerhead seems like it was not cleaned as thoroughly as the rest of the bathroom. I had no issues using it, just seemed odd because the rest of the bathroom was very well cleaned

Other: This place appears to have changed hands a few times recently

The branding and signage were a little confusing as Google told me this was "Sure Stay" but it appears to be a Wyndham Wingate now. But some things inside still say Sure Stay. Anyways, whoever is in charge now seems to be trying their best.

I did not have a chance to try the breakfast as I...
