My wife has been there numerous times with other retired coworkers, and she raved about it. I planned to go to lunch with a friend and former employee of the plant who lives closer to Mansfieldand she frequentlygoes to a Mexican restaurantthere.. My wife suggested we take her here so she has a comparison. Well, none of us were disappointed, and my friend stated the portions here were larger and better taking. She and I got the #11, and my wife got the shrimp with vegetable fajita. Our friend was impressed and when we finished, both ladies asked for take home boxes, because the portions were so large, the ladies had a 2nd meal. When our friend looked at my wife's leftovers, she immediately commented how much shrimp did you eat? My wife said 4 pieces at least, and our friend said how many pieces of shrimp do you have left? Well the two of them counted, and she still had 11 pieces of shrimp left, and she said, at the Mansfield Mexican restaurant, you usually only get 4 shrimp total, and she didn't think she ever had more than 4 pieces, plus it costs more!!! She said she'll be back. I didn't gave leftovers, as I ate every last bit on my plare. The staff was amazingly friendly, our order came out in about 5 minutes, and the plates were truly very hot, and the gentleman that brought our food to us from the kitchen cautioned us about that before and after he set them down. When I went to pay the bill, she ask if everything was OK, and I said we loved it, but the girls don't like spicy, I do, and it was too mild for my liking. She grabbed a menu, and she showed me there were multiple levels of spiciness you can order, there's even a list of additional hotness you can add to really smoke your pipes if you want too. I will certainly return, but for me at least, I'll kick mine way up. I want my eyes to tear up and my nose to run. That's my preferred level with Mexican food. I say BRAVO!!! Job well done, don't...
Read moreLet's get the less than five stars out of the way first. Atmosphere was four stars subjectively to me because I dislike televisions adorning the walls, especially when they are older and the picture quality is degraded. Service was almost there but a couple of times I had to wait for staff, ordering appetizers and refills on my drinks. He did make his rounds but they didn't align with my needs. Had it been busier I could have understood but it was an off time so it was slow.
Now, to the good stuff!!!! I ordered the beef taquitos as an appetizer. Fantastic!!!!! The only glitch was the sauce that accompanied them wasn't to my taste, too sweet. Dipping them in house salsa with some El Yucateca red made them perfect! Next, I ordered the Tacos and Tequila Fajitas for my entrée. All the basics plus steak, chicken, and shrimp. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection! The proteins were all hot and tender, beans were still slightly moist and topped with melty stretchy cheese. Lettuce, tomato salsa, sour cream, and guacamole were all fresh and tasty. Typically I need six flour tortillas to put away the entire order, but not here. Portion size was significantly bigger than your typical Mexican restaurant, I had to pack the remaining as a lunch the following day, and it was even better with a dollop of hot sauce from home. Whoever is in that kitchen is a phenom and you are missing an exemplary experience by going...

We started with an order of nachos - topped with chips, jack cheese, pico de gallo and sour cream. The chips were fresh and the portion was generous. For our entrees, we ordered street tacos al pastor and enchiladas rojas. The tacos featured tender spit-roasted pork with grilled onion and pineapple pico de gallo - the flavors worked perfectly together. The enchiladas were loaded with shredded chicken and covered in a rich red chili sauce with cheese and green onions. Both mains were hearty and well-seasoned.
The friendly staff was quick to refill our waters and check in to ensure we had everything that we needed. The prices were reasonable for the portion sizes. Overall, Tacos & Tequila offers a fun environment with above average Mexican food. Their selection of specialty tacos, enchiladas, burritos and quesadillas appeal to a variety of preferences. I would recommend to anyone craving authentic and freshly prepared Mexican cuisine in an...
