The website is very deceiving. The rooms and breakfast area look nothing like the photos. I was looking forward to this waffle bar that I saw posted. The breakfast area looked nothing like the photo online and was very underwhelming. There was a waffle machine, no toppings. Everything else was empty with nobody restocking. Now, let’s talk about the actual hotel. Once again, deceiving. Upon check-in, the lobby looked and smelled nice, staff were friendly. We were just tired and looking for a place to get some rest, so the front desk staff said they would put us on the first floor since we were tired. When I asked which door would be the best to come in (closest to our room since remember we were tired), I was told to just come in the front door. This long hallway led us almost to the very end where there was an entry door 10 feet from our room that we could have easily came in. Instead, we had to walk down the entire stinky hallway just to get to our room. The hallways smelled like old, musty cigarettes even though there are no smoking signs literally posted everywhere. Bathroom tiny with the smallest bath towels that felt like sandpaper. The room itself felt like we were in a basement or a dungeon. Again, we were just looking to get some sleep so we figured for the price, we would tough it out. We had another 6 hours of driving the next day. Let’s get to the best part. At 5:30 am, I was awoken to the people above us apparently getting up for the day. I think they were just getting ready for the day. I could hear their every move with creaking coming from the ceiling like it was an old house. They finally sat down after about 20 minutes and I was able to fall back asleep. At 6:30 am, I was awoken again by the creaking ceiling. This walking back and forth went on for another half hour. So much for getting a nice night of rest. Overall, hotel looks nice from the outside. However, I think it’s a very old hotel that is in need of major renovations. I just felt dirty leaving this hotel and was reminded of it again leaving down the hallway in the morning, the smell was nauseating. You definitely get what...
Read moreFORGET BIG CORP. HOTELS! Stayed 12/4-12/11 We got here Sunday at midnight and usually I expect a monotone “hi, how are you? checking in?” but we were treated with a huge smile and welcome! We checked in with no problems and shout-out to Hotel J for being a partner with my boyfriend’s linemen company for doing discounted prices for their employees!
We got to our room and I was shocked how new everything was. Shiny appliances, TV, bathroom with an amazing mirror, plus NO BED BUGS found!
The bathroom is smaller than a big corporation hotel but the perfect size and you have everything you need. I woke up this morning with no pain from sleeping and AC works great! Decor is also not like a standard hotel. It feels very classy and no ugly carpet or colors! The bed frame is metal with access to underneath but that helped us with storage so we like it!
Breakfast was same as hotel breakfast but I was thankful they served until 9:30AM since I sleep in. They even had the World Cup on the huge TV! Awesome!
The staff have been seriously so helpful. There’s a business office with a printer and I forgot my USB adaptor for my MacBook and the printer could not do bluetooth successfully even with the help of a staff member but I felt comfortable to ask them if I could print something from the lobby printer behind their counter (If you have a USB outlet on your laptop then you will have 0 problems). They let me sign into my Google account behind the counter to print what I needed for my finals and I got an 100% on it so without their help to print my notecard, equation sheet, and periodic table I would have done horrible!
I forgot a swimsuit but I will be swimming and using the hot tub! The pool area was super nice and clean. The weekends may make it different with families but it’s so nice not to hear running in the halls or pounding walls like you do at Hiltons or Marriot’s! So far this has been amazing!
I do wish there was a fitness center with at least a treadmill but on your welcome sheet they have the address to a fitness center that you can go...
Read moreStayed at Hotel J on a recent trip to Green Bay and was treated so poorly I’d leave a half star review if I could. I like to think I’m reasonable and easy to please when staying at a hotel my only requirements are a bed, shower and spot to plug in my boat which was communicated in advance.
We were treated well the first night by a representative named Phil, but things quickly went downhill from there. Although he had some difficulty checking us in he was friendly and helpful.
The women we dealt with the second night seemed frantic and terribly confused about the general check in process, she was also rude. When we went to speak with a manager about the way we’d been treated and the fact that they changed our rate without notice we were told “we were no longer welcome at Hotel J”, also cancelling our reservation for the final night of our stay leaving us without accommodations for the night which forced a 3 hour drive home a day early.
I was told the owner would follow up to rectify the situation but they failed to follow through with that claim also. I would seek lodging anywhere else but the Hotel J.
As a side note the hallways near our room also had a very strong unpleasant marijuana / smoke odor…
In response to your reply:
You once again have the majority of your information incorrect. I also don’t recall ever slandering your business, you did an unsatisfactory job. You failed to follow through or admit fault for ANYTHING, just adjusted the narrative to make yourself look less insufficient. I’m simply stating facts in hopes that others don’t succumb to the same treatment we did.
I also have actually stayed at the hotel J several times, I thought it was a decent value at the price I always paid not the one you allegedly charge. They finally realized I have stayed before after a lengthy search to locate my account.
I also find it odd you have time to leave a long reply to my review, even though I patiently waited for a call for over a week before leaving it. In other news the owner still hasn’t...
