We encountered bed bugs in this place. It was altogether horrific!! My husband had stayed one night before I arrived with our 8yr old son and 1yr old daughter. He got there kinda late that first night and left around 4a.m. to go to work. He was exposed to some insulation at work really early that morning so he thought that the itching and hives he started experiencing was due to that work incident. However, when I arrived with our kids that second night, after getting them both bathed and in bed, I went to their bed to check on them before I got my own shower and found a bug crawling on my 1yr old daughter's shoulder toward her neck (she was lying on her tummy asleep). We left IMMEDIATELY and found another place. My husband had paid a weekly rate in advance. Granted, there are signs stating the weekly rate is nonrefundable... But we were not able to stay the second night and the SIX hours my husband was there the night before, he was bit REPEATEDLY (upwards of two dozen red, itchy whelps on his side, hip and back) and the owner REFUSED to refund our money UNTIL I told her I was going to be sure that all of social media knew how nasty their place was AND SHE STILL ONLY REFUNDED 5 NIGHTS!!! Before we left there that first night we were all together, I took a minute to look closely at the sheets and pillow and in under one minute I found 6 bugs, some so small they looked like a tiny speck and some so large they looked like they would burst. It was a horrific experience and such a greedy owner. She knew my children and I only followed my husband there while he was working because we were displaced from our coastal Carolina home due to damage and flooding from Hurricane Florence. She didn't care, not at all. We will return to that beautiful town for sure but we would never stay...
Read moreThere were a bug problem in room 118 which was the room right next to the office they complained about us being too loud but didn’t check on the others who were staying there who were also loud. The lady who worked in the office would walk past slamming doors early in the morning and bamming so loud on doors just for tissue and plastic cups and I guess to switch out bedding. I asked before I checked in about if there were any bug problems and the owner lied to my face my 4 year old daughter was completely bit up and I felt more they wanted us to leave then to actually solve the problem. And we were just staying at a different motel who did not have any bed bugs so I just hope he wasn’t implying that we brought them there. But I was very nice about it because I worked in Athens and this was the only place that had openings for a cheaper price. Hopefully they got the bug problems fixed by now because even after we took everything out the room and they sprayed the bugs were still there bed bugs to be exact my fiancé found one and took it straight to the owner. I would say they are kind of friendly but not professional. Kim the housekeeper was great she was very nice and she didn’t bam on our door. Otherwise thanks for your service when we needed a place to live, regardless of the bug...
Read moreWhen we first walked in the door we were met , slammed in the face and overwhelmed by the pungent odor of cat urine! Then noticed they left a can of fabreze, ya no kidding, but that did nothing. When we pulled down the bedspread there was a hairpin, and what looked like a toenail. The white sheets were stained up. There were bugs in the bathroom, the sink leaked, and the tub was so disgusting, I tried to disinfect it with Lysol, but it was severely stained and there was No Way I was using it. The olé man brought in a bottle of wine and we promptly chugged it just to try and forget our situation so we could sleep, after all it was an extremely long travel day and we could go no further. When I awoke in the middle of the night, I saw something scurrying into the crack next to the microwave. Scariest accommodations we have ever stayed at. Other than that... You’re been warned!! Bless...
