The Lodge at Lake Lena — Hotel in Auburndale

I checked out a few months ago but I guess I will leave my review. If you are in town for work, I wouldn't really recommend. The few ruined it for the many. They will expect you to change rooms every 3 weeks and randomly do room inspections anytime between Monday through Thursday. This is hard for busy people like us and no we did not have anything to hide. We simply wanted a place to stay while we made it through our stent in Florida. No mail (which is new to us as other extended stays we have occupied let us receive mail while we were there working). There are also people who have been there for a long time and I'm not sure I agree with making them feel bad for not having better options at the moment. As I said, we were only there for work but I really felt bad for the people who found that place to be home momentarily and treated it as such. I also don't believe in punishing people who haven't done anything wrong. Anyway, the rooms are clean and spacious. The location is typically quiet which is good. It is affordable and close to Walmart. Huge lake in the back but only accessible when the motel says you can access it. But the hospitality just isn't there which is a big thing for me. We have set fireworks off with one motel owner in Missouri and a crawfish boil and bloody marys with another in Louisiana. We have never been treated like children quite like that. If you are in town for a weekend, this would be perfect for you. But if you're looking more long term stays, I would go to extended stay premier in Lakeland. For 500 a week, they offered us grab and go breakfast, a pool, privacy, bbq area, bigger on site laundry, etc.

Edited to add: extended stay did not require us to move rooms after 3 weeks. We had one inspection on a set day...

DO NOT STAY HERE!! BEWARE TOXIC BUG SPRAY!! Stayed in Rm#6 Fri 12/1/2023 for 1 nite and this room looked nothing like photos on website! The 2 Queen beds were hard, Uncomfortable & had 2 flat pillows stuffed inside each pillowcase flat as a pancake. Bathroom was so tiny (w/1 person shower) & Bug spray was so overwhelming that I've been in bed very sick for days unable to hold my head up. (Toxic poison not only kills bugs but hazardous to humans!). Couple in next room were fighting all nite & I couldnt sleep from their yelling & screaming. I would never recommend this place & hope you'll make necessary changes as I see others have also left bad reviews. Pros: They were able to house us with decent accommodations (a kitchenette) with full size Refrigerator that worked great. That place was clean and cared for. Managers were great, nice, and extremely help. Owner always asked about our stay. Great shopping area. Cons: Internet was terrible. I've went above and beyond to tell them what they need to do to fix it for everyone here reasonably. It's beens days since I've told them and it's not fixed, but they know now so hopefully they will fix it. With saying it was decent it needed work in room 31...
