This is without a doubt the WORST place I have ever stayed. We were supposed to stay a week but only lasted 2 days. First, I have never stayed anywhere that put people in a SMOKING room without asking if that was ok. The mixed smell of tobacco and weed not only dominates the room, it floats through the halls and elevator. On top of that, the room was DISGUSTING. There was trash in the cabinets, a large stain on the bed, and a grime around the top of the shower that I assume came from people smoking in the bathroom but I am unsure. The walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors all night long. There is a train that runs at night right next to the hotel, so be prepared for that to wake you up about once an hour. They do not offer any amenities other than a bar of soap to wash your hands. There is a $10 hidden fee to get clean towels and linens, and then you have to bring your dirty towels and linens to the front desk to get new ones. But the first day that I went down to get clean ones, they didn't have enough washcloths for us to use! I had only 3 people in my group, and when I was upset about it, Ian, front desk, pretty much told me I was out of luck. The next day I came down with 3 towels and two washcloths (since I never got a 3rd one) and they did, finally, have clean ones. He gave me my cloths and I asked if he gave us 3 washcloths and he said "no, you only gave me two so you get two" I had to argue with this man for a few minutes before he eventually gave in and gave us the third washcloth. To top it off, while I was folding the towels to put them in the bathroom, I pulled out a long, black hair from one :( They don't offer room cleaning except for once every TWO WEEKS. Our cleaning day was supposed to be Wednesday, but when we came in it was still dirty. So I went to talk to Ian & asked him why no one had cleaned my room today and he said "Well I looked it up and it looks like we cleaned your room Monday so you don't need it." Monday was day we had arrived, and, our room was filthy when we had arrived, but I had put up with it since I knew it would be cleaned in two days. So our room had obviously not been cleaned, or at least very well. What upset me the most was that upon arrival Ian printed out a paper without our cleaning schedule and CIRCLED the date that they would clean our room, making a clear statement that they would clean it on this day. If you say you will do something, that promise should be upheld. A few other upsetting items would be the fact that you are required to take your own trash out and if you leave any trash in the trash cans after your stay they charge a HUGE fee, there is no lobby or place to sit if the front desk is busy and you are waiting, they allow so many dogs that hair covers the halls, the elevator feels as if it's one 300 pound person away from giving out, and that there is no night staff, so if you have a problem after 8, sucks for you. I also feel that I need to make a special point about how awful of an employee Ian is. He is unprofessional and rude. He was completely unconcerned about the problems we were having and acted as if it was our own fault for how horrible the experience was. He smells too horrible to be around, and his breath could kill. During the last day I did see some other front desk employees who were all very nice and professional and showed me genuine hospitality - Ian is nothing like these other employees. It took only 2 days for strong odor of the room to leave me so nauseous that I spent the morning throwing up, which was the final straw. The hotel seemed unapologetic for the circumstance. Personally, I felt that we should have been refunded for our 2 days since the stay was so terrible, but I didn't expect it since they had not showed any concern for our experience before. I would not suggest staying here unless under extreme circumstances such as you're homeless and literally every other hotel within a 25 mile radius is full and you have no other option other than this hotel or the sidewalk. I still might take the...
Read moreWe booked our room here because the price was the most reasonable for our needed 7 day stay & the property is pet-friendly. Upon arriving the male staff member was not pleasant and never once removed the grimace from his face. It was honestly uncomfortable how unhappy he seemed.
The room itself was cleaned but no where near my own standards. I actually removed all bedding to use my own and wiped everything down before we unpacked. The tv remote was caked with debris and gunk. In total we received 4 towels and 2 of them had long black hairs on them and in the actual threads of the towel. We were told linens were an extra $1 per day which is ridiculous considering the towels that provide have hair (see tons of other reviews regarding the same issue) & they're so thin they don't absorb anything! The floor had weird white spotting all over (I have photos of this) as if previous animal guests relieved themselves everywhere.
None of the doors in this place work properly. There was some kind of "trick" to opening each of them. And several times it was as if my card was turned off because it simply just wouldn't read it.
It also appeared that there were several guests actually living at this property. They were loud and obnoxious.
I was there exactly 7 nights and the person in the room above us was an inconsiderate jerk. Starting at 4am-7am & then 6pm until about 2:30-3am we heard drawers slamming, furniture being drug across the floor and the loudest stomping. It was honestly comical how much noise this person made.
We did report this to the front desk staff but we were made to feel as if we were inconveniencing them by asking them to do something about it.
Their front desk is impossible to reach using the room phone. They told us to just dial 500 and they'd answer, NOPE! We dialed 500 exactly as instructed, also tried it with a * & then tried it with a # never did it ever connect to the front desk just gave me a tone like I'd entered something incorrectly.
One day during our stay I actually overheard the cleaning staff in the hall talking about how they were sick but couldn't leave work so they stayed and cleaned while sick! FUN FACT: I got sick within days of checkin and have now developed pneumonia. Not saying it was a direct result of staying here but sick staff doing terrible cleaning jobs could definitely get someone sick.
Lastly we requested a late checkout (2pm). I watched as Anastasia the front desk girl (btw she was awesome!) put my request into the computer AND wrote it down in their book. The next morning at 11:03 (checkout is 11) I was packing my items and preparing to leave the front desk guy comes to my door. Instead of a knock he literally used his closed fist to bang on my door & actually scared me. When I explained I spoke with the front desk girl he just stared at me then rude as can be turned and walked away. He also turned my room key off so I was unable to leave the room & pack my car. I had to go back up to the front desk to have it turned back on and he just didn't even care that he was being a jerk and inconveniencing anyone. His demeanor, the way he acts toward people, his attitude and just lack of customer service skills is appalling. I would NOT want this guy working for me.
I honestly think I would've had a more restful, enjoyable stay in the back of my SUV for that week.
I do not recommend that...
Read moreFirst, please read thru to the end so you get the full story. We booked a room here for work, and were scared because of previous reviews. There was no other budget hotel available for the dates we needed. As we drove up to the hotel, we didn't notice any sketchy people walking around outside. The hotel is nice and neat from the outside. Check in was great, DaRon was knowledgeable and friendly. Watch your bill, they will charge you for a linen change that they do once a week. We declined that charge, and he immediately took it off. We were given a flyer with the rules and charges explained, so nothing was a surprise. Going to the room, the first thing we checked was the AC. It didn't work properly; we notified DaRon, and he immediately had his maintenance guy look at it. He couldn't get it to work, so he changed it for a new AC. THANK YOU Keith!!! After that, we checked the bed for bedbugs. The mattress has a wrap on it, and there were no sign of bedbugs. The room is bare bones. It has a bed - queen size with a very comfortable QUIET mattress. Bathroom is bigger than some we've stayed in, not as big as others, but since we weren't ballroom dancing, it was perfect. The floors are a wood-grained vinyl and they were clean. The refrigerator was clean and cold, with two provided ice trays. One night stand was a decent size, we could have used another because my husband uses a CPAP. The room is a decent size, and was comfortable for our whole stay. The shades are wood blinds, and you might need something to help keep out the light if you work during the night and sleep during the day. I've seen some really bad reviews for this place; we didn't face any of the issues that were posted. We had a couple of issues - but the hotel wasn't the cause. We brought those issues to the attention of the desk crew, and they immediately took care of them. The hotel was more than worth the price we paid - if you can't deal with bare bones, then maybe you need to pay twice to three times the price. I prefer to know my floor is clean. If you don't want to take your trash to the dumpster (within 100 ft of any room) or if you wash your sheets at home more than once a week, or you don't reuse your towels, or need more than one or two per person, consider somewhere else, or pay the extra. This hotel doesn't nickel and dime you - they charge a reasonable base fee for the room, then if you need more, expect to pay more. Again, it's all outlined in the paperwork you are given upon check-in! Thank you DaRon, Keith and the rest of the staff at this Woodsprings Hotel! We...
