Stayed at the EVEN Hotel in North Austin from Thursday to Sunday, and honestly, I regret it. Right when we checked in, the room looked nice so I recorded a video to show friends and family. In that same video, you can clearly see the TV already had issues—lines running through the screen. Later that night, when we tried to watch something, the screen went completely black. I called the front desk, they sent a tech who turned the TV off and on again, and it started working. I even pointed out to him that there was a small chip in the corner of the screen. He didn’t speak English well and had to use Google Translate, but he gave me a thumbs up and said it was fine. When I spoke with the technician and the front desk, they mentioned that they use Spectrum and that their service is spotty sometimes, so that could be the issue. So, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I figured it was just a signal problem and moved on. I told the front desk the tech fixed the issue and the TV was working again. Didn't mention the chip because again, I assumed they communicate with their own technician, and if something was wrong, he’d say something. The next day, we were gone all day for a concert and came back at 1 AM, too tired to even touch the TV. Then Saturday night we finally go to use the TV again around 10 PM—and once again, it's not working. I Googled the hotel to get the number and accidentally called the hotel right next to this one (super close buildings in Austin). That hotel said their tech was out for the night, but she’d note the issue. Honest mistake—it literally shows up as the hotel directly above on Google Maps and I was exhausted. When we checked out Sunday, I told the front desk how our stay was generally good, but the TV kept acting up. No one mentioned anything about a charge or damage. Then I leave and get hit with a $400 charge for a “broken TV.” I called the hotel immediately and explained everything—how I had video proof from check-in showing the TV already wasn’t right, how I reported the issue, how I showed the tech the chip, how I made multiple calls. Instead of working with me, the front desk manager gets rude and tells me it’s my fault for calling the wrong hotel (even though I still reported the issue), and that I should’ve told him about the chip—despite the fact that I told his technician who was right there looking at it with his own eyes. So because of poor internal communication, a language barrier, and bad customer service, I get charged $400 for a TV that was already damaged when I arrived—something I have actual video and call history to back up. This whole thing was handled incredibly unprofessionally. I travel often and have never had to deal with something like this. Be careful if you stay here—take photos, videos, and don’t assume their staff will do their jobs. Because if something goes wrong, they’ll blame you and...
Read moreThe hotel is really nice because it’s brand new. Rooms are generally clean, there are a few spots here and there. Beds are actually comfortable and the pillows are great because they don’t turn flat while you use them. I did have many issues with children running around all over, yelling at early hours of the morning, it was 6-7am. Parents do not control them or tell them to stop even though clearly there are other people around maybe sleeping. You can hear everything, the walls are thin. If you aren’t on the top floor, good luck because they will be running all over and you can hear it all. One morning, it was so bad I called the front desk and the male at the front went “well they are leaving at 9am there’s nothing I can do” and I said “are you not able to call the parents to ask them to stop?”. The response I got was “I guess I can…” it was just very strange and unhelpful. I went to the front desk later to move rooms and I spoke with the manager and he was very apologetic, accommodating and rectified the situation. The service would’ve been 5 stars but because of that first initial interaction I had with the front desk I knocked it to 4. The next day, I was woken up again by children running and screaming. You parents are rude allowing your children to go around acting crazy with no regard for other people’s time or situations. During the day, it was very quiet and just the regular noises of people talking in the hallways and the house keepers which is totally acceptable. The room is nice to hang out in and watch TV, plenty of counter space for your bags too. I enjoyed the room itself quite a lot. Downstairs is really nice too. It smells good, many places to sit down and hang out and it is very clean. My only suggestion would be to add a toiletries or miscellaneous section where people can buy things other than food like chlorox wipes or items you may have forgotten at home. Overall, the experience was fine except for both...
Read moreI was put up in this hotel on a recent business trip. I was a little nervous since I didn't get a choice on lodging, and the hotel had no ratings yet. Well, this hotel is absolutely beautiful, and my fears were entirely unfounded. The hotel aesthetic is modern, with a focus on wellness, so there is fruit infused water in the lobby, and yoga mats in the rooms. Every floor has a light essential oil aroma, and the overall vibe is trendy. I'm highly sensitive to smells, but the essential oils/aromas weren't overpowering at all. Noticable as you walk in, but it doesn't linger or take over like a teen boy dousing himself in Axe body spray does (I'm a teacher, and that is my worst nightmare). Thank goodness!
The service was excellent! Everyone was kind, hard working, and ready to help in any way they could. The front counter gentleman was nice, even when I locked myself out of my room, then realized I forgot my toothbrush too! The bartender was wonderful and accommodating to me as I slowly sipped on a couple drinks while I sat working at the bar for several hours. All the staff kept the lobby and restaurant areas clean, tidy, and smelling divine! The elevator has a neat feature that had me stumped on my first trip up to my room (Give me break - I was exhausted from traveling!). You have to scan your room key before it will go up; going down doesn't require a scan. It adds a nice extra level of security. I was there for 2 nights, and housekeeping did come to clean up after the 1st night. Most hotels I've been to recently only do this on request anymore, so that was a nice surprise. The Internet connection was fast, and easy to access. There is also a gym and small pool, but I didn't use either. I did sit in the courtyard area for a while, which was very nice! It's well lit, and well maintained.
Overall, I would absolutely stay here again. In fact, next time I'm in Austin for business, I'll be disappointed if they put me...
