TL;DR - We loved it! This is where we will be staying from now on.
I didn't think we would ever find the right fit for us at Disney World. We finally found it, and it's not even a deluxe resort. Which is difficult to believe because the service & amenities at club level well exceeded our expectations.
The Gran Destino Tower is located at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. It still feels new even though it has been open since 2019. We loved everything about it. It's fresh & modern. The décor is absolutely beautiful! I could have spent all day taking pictures around this building, but we just wanted to relax and enjoy our stay.
The service starts before you leave your home. Disney Signature Services calls to ask if you have any allergies, questions, or concerns. This is when we found out that the Chronos Club would be available to us even before being assigned a room. It opens at 6:30am for coffee. They start serving a hot buffet breakfast at 7:00am. What is cool is that the Barcelona Lounge in the lower lobby also opens for breakfast at 6:30. There are options before you even get on that bus to leave for your theme park destination.
The bus is the only complimentary transportation at this resort. If that's a problem for you, then you may want a resort that's closer to the theme park or that has access to the Skyliner/Monorail. We've stayed at Disney's Riviera and the Contemporary resorts in the past. It's nice to have that 2nd option. At the same time, we've never had an issue with their bus transportation. We used Bus Stop 1 the entire time. There are 4 stops at this resort, but our stop always seemed to be the last stop before going to the park.
We received a notification that our room (9565) was ready at around 2pm (automated check-in). We originally were thinking it would be the 9th floor because they do have club level rooms on floors other than the 15th. But then, the app showed that the room was on the 15th floor. It's kind of a strange room number system. We walked all the way down the hall and immediately recognized the Magic Kingdom off in the distance through the hallway window. The MagicBand was our room key. All went well unlocking the door. The room was spacious and clean. It was the perfect size for 2 people. The couch was extremely comfy for a hotel. It had everything that we needed. There was even a great view to watch the fireworks from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
I think the most relaxing part of our stay was the Chronos Club. We checked in at the concierge desk immediately upon entering. The level of service here is fantastic! We were offered a seasonal drink from a list of 3. The Sugar Plum Punch was very good. The lounge is decorated so beautifully. There is Christmas music in Spanish, and lots of game boards for kids and adults. The view of Hollywood Studios was even closer at this part of the hotel. I can see why people head over here and the Dahlia Lounge to view them. I think the best buffet times were breakfast and dessert. They start serving bite sized desserts at 8:00pm. They were actually good quality type desserts such as Horchata Cheesecake and Lemon Olive Oil Cake. I was thankful that they immediately offered me a box to take what I wanted back to my room. What I liked best was that you could grab & go any of the items. They even had snacks such as KIND bars and veggies that you could take to the park. The bottled water and canned sodas were always available.
I could go on & on. It's really true what they say about the Gran Destino Tower. It's a moderately priced resort with a deluxe feel. The club access makes it pricier, but it's still less than if you were to stay at a deluxe resort. Some deluxe resorts at Disney World don't even have club access. Honestly, I think even a non-club room in the tower would be great. You have access to everything at Coronado Springs.
We will return! There's so much to see, and I feel like I didn't get a chance to really walk around to enjoy the outdoor scenery at the resort. It will be a longer...
Read moreThis review is for the Gran Destino Tower (newer section) of the Coronado Springs Resort. I chose the Gran Destino primarily because the newer section has laminate flooring, walk in shower, double sinks and separate toilet. Plus the room is very spacious, it has 2 queen beds, refrigerator, in room safe, long countertop desk which I love! Sliding doors for both bathroom and toilet. Everything was clean and minimalistic, which I love. Beds were comfortable and beddings were clean. They have luggage rack and another trunk base like ottoman so you can set your luggage on it. Here are the things we love and don't love.
Pros: Clean room and bathroom with laminate flooring. Spacious room with long countertop desk so you can work. Very close to Hollywood Studio and Epcot. Free shuttle bus that takes you to all Disney theme parks and Disney Springs. Plus the Bus Stop # 1, is so close to Gran Destino, which makes it very convenient. Keurig Coffee Machine. Spacious pool called the Dig Site with Mayan Temple theme. Very cool design and it has a spiral slide. The pool is shared with the other wings, so it's not right on the Gran Destino Tower, but it is only a short walk distance through the LL level. They open from 10 a.m. till 11 p.m. everyday. Refillable Mugs that you can purchase ($21.99) and you can get free refills during the duration of your stay at the Siesta Cafe Restaurant by the pool. Friendly staffs, easy check in. We used our Magic Bands to unlock the room, but you can also use the My Disney Experience app to unlock your room. You have to pay parking at the hotel, which was about $20/night, but you get free parking at the theme parks, should you choose to drive.
Laundry Machine (coin operated) on the 3rd floor. Very very useful because we packed light.
What we did not love:
We requested check in at 2:00 p.m. Regular check in is at 3:00 p.m. We received a text that they were preparing our room at around 1;00 p.m. By 4:00 p.m. we still did not have our room, I called the main hotel telephone # and it took me to space and beyond before being able to reach a human. Eventually I got another text and it has a local phone # and I was able to talk to a real human and told them that we had a 19 hours drive and would love to check in to our room. It was then 4:05 p.m. Finally we got an alert that our room was ready at 4:25 p.m.
We chose the option for "every 4th day" housekeeping. We stayed for 5 nights and had specifically requested to have extra towels and k-cups / creamers, cups and such. No one came to clean the room, and no extra towels either. We had to keep on asking for k-cups, coffee cups, towels etc. Thankfully trash were picked up from the front of the room.
The sliding barn door to the main bathroom has a soft close. The sliding door to the toilet does not have a soft close, room next door kept on slamming the toilet door throughout the stay and we kept on hearing the loud thud. Very very annoying when you were so tired and trying to catch some sleep. We had peace a few days, before next door guest checked in. The walls are pretty thin.
Overall we really love the Gran Destino. We requested quiet room on top floors, and they were able to accommodate us on the 15th floor, which is the highest, in the corner room next to emergency exit and ice machine. We really...
Read moreThis is going to be a longer review and it is going to encompasse the totality of my recent experience at the Destino Tower - First to discuss the Tower and Room, then The Dahlia Lounge, Toledo and then leaving the Chronos Club for the last. Scroll down to what you may find interesting - the summary is that this is a go to location and do not hesitate to book it !
Destino Tower - Why isn't this a vacation club property?
This is our second stay at the Destino Tower and like the last time, we had a very good experience.
The room was impeecably clean, well appointed, even though we did get parking lot view again. The room is well thought out, nice hard surfaces and the decor is what you would expect given this style of the property - one thing I wish it did have, was a balcony - but that is the only detraction that truly comes to mind. This room was a pleasure to come back to after a long day being out and about.
However, poeple being people, some folks though it was ok to leave stuff in the halls, that didnt last as housekeeping was spot on keeping the property clean and resentable ! Well done !
Dahlia Lounge -
I simply love the Dahlia Lounge, I do like it less that Mike is no longer there mixing drinks, but we get to see him at the Territoy Lounge so that is a plus.
The Lounge has excellent decor and I love the intertwining of Dali's specific flair, coupled with Walt's own peronsal touches. It is interesting to see the connection that existed between Disney and Dali.
There is a fantastic wine selection here as well as spritis and beer. The small plate offerings are exceptional and the crispy artichokes are as good as others have cliamed - we can attest to the fact that the bowl of them couled with the Rioja Reserve selection, it did not last long.
There is limited seating inside sadly but the terrace offers some additonal space with some very nice views of the surrounding area - once again a place that we will always venture towhen in the area.
Toledo -
This is also the second time we have dined at the Toldedo Restaurant - and it was jsut as delicious this time as the last - however, we only wanted ome small plates this trip. This was not a problem for our server, and they provided us with a nice selection and once again paired with the Rioja Reserve.
We tried the Pan con Tomato, Rioja Braised Chrizo, and Flight of Four Pintxos ! Each was prepared perfectly, with a fabulous flavor profile that left you wanting more. I realistically cannot say which was my favorite, as they all were. However, I do know that the chrorizo, will be ordered again when we return, hint...
