My daughter and I stayed at the Rosemount last weekend, read several good reviews on TripAdvisor and the price per night allowed us to stay two days in Southern Indiana. I always bring our own coffee maker, but they provide that on request, as for ice and other generally provided amenities. The rooms were clean, if a bit spartan, but we weren’t looking for indulgent provisions, just a place to sleep and keep our bikes safe. The room came with a small frig and microwave, no GFCI outlets, AC worked but was loud (100 degree heat index that weekend). Jay the manager was very personable and remembered my name a week after booking, and he made sure we understood the TV control and other small but helpful tokens of hospitality.||||Parking lot in back was a bit crowded with a truck and trailer there, and the motel is situated on a hill where it is difficult to see around the block, but otherwise it’s easy to find on Business U. S. 50 and near downtown. (It’s right across from a large cemetery, which was nice to ride our bikes around with a full moon out!)||||With about 20 rooms, it’s cozy but there is no onsite dining, so Jay provided several good recommendations for local eateries as well as things to do. (My next review will be for Pappy’s Bar and Grill just down the road.)||||Overall, I’d stay there again, but 4 stars is generous. Unique facility, not fancy but had a good experience, not too loud and the staff was fun and helpful. Reservations were easy to make and I give the Rosemount 4.5 stars for value...
Read moreMy fiancé and I, especially since my recent diagnosis of Chronic Heart failure, travel a lot. We want to see as much as we can, while we can. We came across this place by accident. It was late and our gps took us the wrong direction. Looking at the pics online in no way does this place justice. Jay, the amazing Inn Keeper, started by walking my fiancé to see which room would suit us, at 12 at night. Showing him how to work the heat, the tv, etc!! Where in this day an age do they do that anymore?? Right away I knew I wanted to stay here. We hadn’t decided if it would be 2 nights before we checked in, by then we knew we would. Our car split a hose with anti freeze everywhere. Jay came out got us a jack and tools, helped look at the car, got my fiancé cardboard and such to lay on, and checked on us several times calling us by first name like we were family. I watched as someone staying had no ride to where she was going. Did he tell her to take a lift? No he had one of his employees help load her stuff in his car and take her where she needed to go, while checking on us and playing with one of the patrons babies. This is by far one of the best, most accommodating places we’ve ever stayed. We have stayed in places in Bedford that true may be more updated but never again. Rosemont is our new home away from home. Plus it’s only a short drive to French Lick Casino. I promise it’s worth every Penny and it was already a great price!! Thank you Jay for...
Read moreSince I was in Bedford doing genealogical research at the Lawrence County Museum of History & Edward L. Hutton Research Library I chose to stay for two nights at the Historic Rosemont Hotel which was fairly close to the Museum.
My room was wonderful. Although some may consider it small, I was very satisfied with the compactness of the space. It was a clean and pleasant Non-Smoking Room containing a small refrigerator and microwave.
Due to the limestone construction of the hotel, I really didn't hear anything outside the room, even though there was a fairly well-traveled road not more than 250 feet from where I slept!.
Besides supporting a LOCAL BUSINESS, I loved the fact that I could adjust the A/C to be what some people might think as significantly cold. As a "woman of certain age" I'm usually displeased when the chain hotel A/C limits adjusting temps downward. It was blissfully cold in the room in no time at all and very much appreciated.
The management is friendly, helpful, and very welcoming - give this place a try!
PS I'm looking forward to moving ahead on my research and writing a paper to present to the Lawrence County Historical Society, when I return I will definitely stay at the historic Rosemont...
