If you are looking for hospitality this is not the place. This was absolutely my worst hotel experience ever. Jason? Is the most incompetent desk clerk I have ever encountered. I will elaborate more later when I heal from today’s surgery.
Jason literally sent me out to sit on the side of the freeway to wait. I just got out of surgery two hours prior. He would not let me wait in the lobby for my room, though he let others wait.
Time to elaborate.
I had dental surgery, top and bottom implants surgery, 8 holes put in my skull today. Because I was under general anesthetic I was med transported to the hotel, my car stayed at the surgery center.
I walked in not able to talk because of gauze inside my mouth the size of two golfballs, so I showed Jason? my confirmation notice.
He rudely informed me his computer would not let me check in until 3?so I went over and sat in the lobby and wrote a note. I posted a photo of my note to him.
I presented the note to Jason and he then informed me I had to leave the property until my check in time or he would call the police and have me trespassed. He didn’t want to give me his name. I think that’s why he became inhumane in his actions.
I did not have a car there as I was med-transferred there. So I walked down the long driveway, dizzy, and sat at the service road by the Interstate and watched cars whizzing by. Mind you, I’m supposed to be laying down and still.
I contacted my gf/nurse, she called the hotel and found out they had cancelled my reservation. I would have sat there for two hours, walked back up to find I was cancelled and maybe be arrested for trespassing.
When I did exit the hotel at the end of confirming they cancelled me, I did mutter asshole. The reply from Thomas to this review is a lie. Saying I was cancelled over my departing remark. this was why I got “asked” to leave. I was “asked” and threatened when I asked the desk clerk for a business card/ID. They never informed me of their cancellation of my room. They could have phoned me. The desk clerk left me believing I could come back at 3 and check in, then did something different. He lied to me. Most businesses want to know when their actions leave a customer disgruntled. If anyone viewed the security footage, witness her tone and directives, or his his tone and directives, they would probably for sure think the same thing.
When I got back to the car I checked my blood sugar. It was at 322. I was finally able to do insulin which I could not do before surgery. I could have slipped into a coma on the side of the highway and even died because Jason wouldn’t let me wait in the lobby. It was absolutely one of the most inhuman things I have ever experienced.
So I did walk back up to confirm the cancellation. My GF got an Uber to take me back to my car at the surgery center. I finally got a chance to check my blood sugar. Normally it’s 100-120 controlled with insulin. It was at 322. I could have slipped into a coma and died on the side of the service road.
In a kind, hospitable establishment they would let me wait in the lobby for my room that was already paid for.
In my business management classes at CSU they would say terminate a couple people of their incompetence and rude behavior.
If the reply guy, Thomas, wants to rebutt any of this he could put up security footage to show my lies. Actually he can’t, because I didn’t.
I will post this review in Yelp, the Booking App, etc. etc. These folks were not only extremely unprofessional , they treated me in a life threatening manner.
If my implants fail, they will be sued. When I present the recorded facts I would think a jury would see it my way.
If Thomas or anyone from management, or anyone for that matter wants to discuss this I can be reached at 707.367.4673 Mark Mortensun
The review has now been added to Yelp. Where next?
Addendum 11/5 They told me they would refund my payment. They did, but they charged me twice. How do you...
Read moreThe hotel is beautiful on the outside, it is surrounded by the forest and the trees were beautiful and this kind of made me fall in love with the area in general. The inside of the hotel was everything I expected except there was no breakfast being served and no vending machines. They had a selection of items you could buy in the lobby that you had to pay for at the front desk. But it was clean, inviting and I felt safe in the hotel. I loved that you had to get buzzed into the hotel, not just anyone could walk into the lobby, this made me feel safe to wander around the hotel.
The hotel is less than a mile from anything you could possibly need, there is a gas station, a Safeway, pizza hut, a couple other restaurants, a Starbucks and the people living in the area seemed really kind. Definitely a great area filled with people that care about their community.
The hotel room itself was everything I would need in a room for a weekend stay. The bed was comfortable, there was a kitchen with a fridge, sink, and dishes and everything was really clean and well organized upon arrival. There was a nice TV and the window opened up to fresh mountain air and a beautiful foresty view.
Issues with the room were minor, the bathroom door handle would only let you out of the bathroom if you lifted it up, if you pushed it down the door wouldn't open. But the bathroom was clean and the water pressure was great. Another issue with this room was about every hour the fridge would make a sound like a dish dropping off the counter to the floor.. it was a loud thud.. every hour. The only remaining issue with the room is that there was no way to view things like hulu or Netflix. They only had cable and a DVD player. I had to hook up my own computer to the tv get on my streaming apps.
The staff was great except for one individual which I will get to at the end of my review. The housekeepers were so sweet and helpful, they did an amazing job keeping that hotel presentable.
There was one employee who was so nasty and so rude. Every time I interacted with her she was extremely unpleasant and unprofessional to the point I remembered her shift so I could avoid her. Her name was Layla, Layla was so unprofessional on the phone that I had to ask if I had the right number when I called the hotel befor I arrived. I called in three times befor I arrived and twice it was her and both times she was so rude that it made me anxious. Befor I even got to the hotel I wanted to spot her so I could avoid her. One of the nights for my stay I went to get some water and there was only one bottle of water left in the fridge, when I asked Layla if she had a couple extra bottles in the back she lied to me and told me they were out till Monday. I know this was a lie because the next morning the fridge was full of waters again. She also snapped at me for not using the pen at the pay pad. She didn't smile even once and she did nothing but glare at me. Layla should not be working in customer service.
So for the very end of my review I wanted to talk about the most amazing employee which was Cameron.. this gentleman was so sweet every single time we went to the lobby. He would smile and tell us to have a great day and he would smile and greet us when we got back. He was exceptionally great at his job and we enjoyed every time we saw him in the lobby always hoping it would be him and not Layla. He was generous about giving us late check out and he just radiated great energy. Cameron always had a smile and always made us smile. He is the best...
Read moreThe building is your typical slightly-older hotel: showing its age, but still holding up just fine. Rooms are decently large and comfortable. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The primary problem here is a difficulty in finding a balance between less-frequent services (typical of extended-stay hotels) and regular needs in a hotel room. Location is a bit of a pain -- I-90 is between you and most things you'd want to drive to, and any bus service is a fair walk away. But once you get on I-90 or 148th, it's convenient enough.
The handling of breakfast is unusual in my experience of hotels, but pretty good. You fill out an order form of selections from their breakfast options, and they'll have a brown bag ready to grab and take up to your room. Not sure whether this is a CoVID response or simply the way they do it here -- there is an area downstairs with tables which could be used for breakfast, but it's tiny relative to the hotel size, and each room has a working kitchen. You get a stove, microwave, sink, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher.
There are no brooms or vacuums in the rooms, which is normal for a hotel. But they only clean the rooms once per week, meaning there's no easy way to clean up small messes which crop up in the intervening days -- and they will, since you're having at least one meal a day in the room.
Many hotels make a big deal about saving water by changing towels and linens less frequently. But having so few dishes in the room -- two big glasses, two small glasses, four mugs, and four of each type of silverware -- means running the dishwasher multiple times a day if you've got several people in the room. Miss running it after a meal, and you might find yourself eating cereal out of a mug with a soup spoon at the next. Ask for more dishes at the front desk? They "pass[ed my] request to housekeeping," and we never got more. Same with things in the room that don't work -- front desk made a note and nothing got addressed.
The consumables in the room -- trash bags, dishwasher detergent, toiletries, paper towels, toilet paper -- aren't replenished during the week. You can ask for more any time at the front desk, and they're happy to give them to you. But it would be far more convenient to keep a spare or two in the room and have the spares replenished every couple days. There's tons of cabinet space in both the kitchen and the bathroom -- devoting a corner of a cabinet to some spare paper towel rolls and toilet paper rolls wouldn't cramp guests at all.
Unlike many extended stay hotels, laundry doesn't require scads of quarters or camping out in hopes of a machine. The laundry room can be booked for a two-hour slot; with four washers and five dryers that seems about right to do everything in parallel. (Unfortunately, two of the washers are out of order at the moment.) The machines are free; detergent pods are sold at the front desk for $1.50 each or you can bring your own.
The website promises "DVDs, books and games for use during your stay." The reality is a decently assorted binder of DVDs for check-out, a shelf of paperbacks in the lobby, and a blank look from the front desk staff when I asked about the games.
All in all, it feels like a hotel struggling to find the balance between normal hotel and extended stay. They mean well, but they're not...
