We just completed at stay at the DoubleTree in Bemidji. We arrived for a wedding with staff greeting us and supplying us with cute bags the wedding party had placed at the front desk for each of their guests. The staff was great from the start. On our second night, a historical storm swept through Bemidji with 100+ mph winds. The warning sirens went off in the hotel rooms telling everyone to evacuate to the stairwells. The town had extensive damage, there was no power in the town (or hotel) and as people slowly made their way to their rooms after the storm there was a calm that the staff brought. Curious guests ran out to the parking lot to survey the storm damage which included downed light poles in the parking lot along with debris from buildings, etc. Several of us sat with other family members and wedding guests on the second floor landing just processing what had happened. A staff member walked by and asked "are you ok and do you need anything". We were all just fine, just not tired at 2am from what had just happened. We said we were good and I asked, "are you ok and can we do anything for you". With exhaustion evident, she looked at me and responded that she was ok and thanked me for asking and followed up with she had had better nights. She was checking every area of the hotel for guests that might need help. I do not recall her name, but she was doing everything she could to insure guests were taken care of and were safe and secure while meeting their needs. ||Additionally, that following day the town was in disarray with everything shut down and with no electricity there was no where to get food (the town had been declared a state of emergency). The hotel had 3 grills set up outside and was feeding anyone who walked up either chicken sandwiches or hamburgers free of charge. They also had bottles of water available. I cannot say enough about the staff at this hotel in a moment of crisis they were still making sure guests had what they needed despite knowing electricity would take several days to be restored and while trying to make repairs to their facility that suffered damages. ||When you stay here you will be taken care of and the rooms are nice and the view is beautiful. We had a very fun and nice stay despite the storm. I would stay here...
Read moreHad a really nice stay, in fact family was so impressed they said we could come back anytime! All the staff were excellent, we asked housekeeping for a couple extra towels as we had three people in the room and they could not have been more pleasant and friendly. At the front desk, Iris was an absolute delight.
Hotel was roomy, comfy and clean. We stayed in a 2 room king suite and thought the bed was super comfortable. The room was spacious and comfortable. One thing we noticed is that we never heard another person once we were in our room, not from the floor above, not from the hallway, nothing. This was the quietest hotel stay I've ever experienced and it seemed quite full. There was even a football team staying here!
We ate on site at Green Mill for dinner and had a nice meal, our local friends say they come every week for the deep dish pizza special. We did not have breakfast at the hotel but after a very mediocre experience downtown at a popular spot, I would totally pay for the breakfast on site next time.
As for location, it is a great spot on the lake and downtown is about a mile away on the Paul Bunyan State Trail and you can get dinner or coffee off site within a couple of blocks.
I got a lot of credit for booking our family stay here, but really, they did all the work. ...
Read moreA True Example of Hospitality and Heart – Above and Beyond During a Crisis We recently stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bemidji for a wedding, with a large group of family and friends. What was supposed to be a joyful celebration turned into an unforgettable experience when a massive storm swept through the area, knocking out power across the entire town and causing significant damage—including to the hotel itself. Despite the challenging circumstances, the staff at the DoubleTree went above and beyond in every way imaginable. With no power and limited resources, they showed remarkable dedication and care for every guest. They fired up the outdoor grill to provide hot meals, offered complimentary food and water, and ensured everyone was safe, fed, and as comfortable as possible throughout the ordeal. Their efforts turned what could have been a stressful and chaotic situation into one filled with warmth, community, and compassion. The hotel’s beautiful lakeside setting is a bonus, but it’s the people who work there who truly make this place special. We wholeheartedly recommend the DoubleTree Bemidji—not just for the stunning views and comfortable rooms, but because you’ll be cared for by an incredible team who truly puts guests first. We can’t thank...
