I was staying at the double tree for a hockey game at Sanford Center over weekend. My family (8 people) and I were drinking beers in our room after the game and decided to go down to green mill for dinner. The staff watched me walk in with a beer in my hand, and served us. I ordered wings, finished my beer and ordered a gin and tonic. We paid our tab, went back to our rooms. Everyone was tired except me. I wanted to go see another bar (it was a Saturday 01/17/16) in Bemidji, so I grabbed another beer, headed down to the green mill. I had no intention of staying there, I simply wanted to ask people where I should go and why uber didn't work. The waiter walks up to me, takes my beer from the table I sat down at and asks me if I want a drink. I said yes, mine that you just took and I might order another. I was literally going to ask him what bar I should lookup on Google maps to go check out and how to get a cab. Instead he says "did you order this beer here" I said "yeah" (lying of course because I had no intention of staying there). He says from who? I pointed at the kid that had served me and my family like 30 mins prior. The kid says "no he didn't order it." So the guy takes my beer and walks off into the bar area. I said give me back my beer and I'll gladly leave, he looks at me in front of all these people and dumps it out. I couldn't believe it! I asked if I could talk to his manager. He brings me to this woman who was sitting in a back room area doing something on her cell phone. I explain what happened (I was there earlier and this wasn't an issue) I said I didn't know you couldn't have the beer and that he could have simply asked me to leave. That at this point I wouldn't ever be eating there again and that I wanted my beer back and that I would be leaving to another bar. She essentially told me that she wouldn't because it's against the law for me to have outside beverages in their resturaunt. I said one final time, give me my beer back and I will gladly leave. She said nope with a smirk on her face. I'm giving one star because I assume that these people have this happen to them often. The servers pick and chose when to enforce the rule. Earlier when I was with my family, they had no problem allowing it because the server knew he would make a good tip, and I know for a fact they knew my beer was from "outside". All that server had to do was tell me I couldn't have the outside beer in there and I would have left. Instead he tried to be a tough guy, and embarass me in front of all those people. I think they are rude, inconsiderate and incompetent. I'll never spend another dime in...
Read moreThe location is fantastic overseeing the water and the service is superb buy the food was a serious disappointment. We were both in the mood for pasta dishes.
My wife got the three cheese chicken and rigatoni while I got the Fettucine Alfredo. The 3 cheese Chicken and Rigatoi was the most balanced and would have rated a great score with its fresher herb flavour and balance of cheese and nice mellow garlic undertone, except, as the photos show, it was very oily and greasy which made it unappetizing.
The Fettuccine Alfredo was similarly greasy but was finished with raw garlic and had that metallic and harsh flavor raw garlic imparts. As you can see in the photos, there was grease left over on the plates after finishing and the pasta is oil glossy.
The bread and soup sides were very nice however. They are supposedly known for their pizza and I sincerely hope it is better executed than their pasta.
It has to me mentioned again, the atmosphere and service were fantastic and if I were staying in the area longer I would certainly give the rest of the me u a try to see if this...
Read moreWe walked in and were told appetizers and pizza were all that was available at this time, we were fine with that. The waitress came over and started out fine, then my friend ordered a specialty margarita, attitude change happened. My friend then asked about pizza. She opened the menu on the table to the appetizers and said here is what's available. My friend said "oh, he said we could get pizza". She threw her hand up, walked away without a word and came back to drop a menu on the table. My friend said "sorry" and she said"no you can order a pizza" with quite the attitude in her tone. When she finally came back for our order, friend said she didn't want to order one. Of course then we heard " are you sure?" I refused to not say why and proceeded to tell her that her attitude told us we did not want to order food. She insulted us further by saying no, she just forgot to bring a menu. We aren't stupid. We finished our drinks and left. I don't complain much but that treatment was totally uncalled for. We are visiting Bemidji, it wasn't a way for residents to say we hope...
