Great find in little Birchwood, WI. A family group of us booked out several of the rooms for a wedding this past weekend, along with 2 other couples (not part of our group) - so it was a full house!
Our group loved it. The owner was very nice and you could tell she had put a lot of time into turning the home into her business. The style of the place as very eclectic, to say the least. She had antiques and trinkets everywhere - you could probably sit and stare for hours in each room. :) Every lamp, towel, art piece, window shade, side table, was unique and well placed. She has certainly done her fair share of collecting throughout the years. So if you generally enjoy the bed & breakfast experience, appreciate antiques, sleep well on feather tops and feather pillows, and having a fantastic home cooked breakfast (of course) - this is a spot you will really enjoy.
Now - this is where I need to mention something about the other guests that were also staying there. I'm fairly certain they were all around terrible people. I'm writing this portion of the review to combat their threats directed at the owner Mary the next morning. Apparently WE were too loud coming home Saturday night after the wedding. Normally, I'd give some validity to their statement, but this time, I seriously have to question this as we were back by midnight and all of us immediately fell asleep when our heads hit those fabulous feather pillows...it had been a very long day traveling, we were all exhausted! The only noise ANY OF US heard was THEM bagging on the walls every hour. Who knows, they might have been truly crazy people since they waited until well after Owner Mary had cooked and served them breakfast to threaten her with a bad review and they refused to pay her for they stay that night too. ...Oh, AND they claimed that she was much too loud in the kitchen cooking their breakfast. Are you kidding me?
I understand these folks were searching for a wedding venue - and as a manager of a high end wedding venue in Minnesota, I'm going to pray for the venue staff at whatever space they end up booking...
So I say to these folks, you may need to manage your logging expectations - if you wanted to rest in a place with thicker walls, standard amenities, mediocre stale breakfast, limited customer service, and somewhere you can get away with complaining enough to not pay GO TO A MOTEL next time. Don't wait until after the host has served you breakfast to tell her - A SINGLE BUSINESS OWNER - that you refuse to pay her. Who the hell do these people think they are?
Mary - you did a great job, and we truly enjoyed your hospitality. As a hospitality professional, you were on point and I'm sorry that the other folks this past weekend were SO RUDE to you. If I see them again, I'm...

Each room is full of whimsical items that add to the theme of the room. Our bed was not only lovely with the beautiful duvet and decorative pillows, it was very comfortable. MaryLou, the owner/ innkeeper, is a gem. The Inn, inside and out, reflects her love of what she does. The grounds are beautiful with flowers, plants, and gathering spaces everywhere. The front porch is romantic and a nice space to sit outside with coffee or a cocktail. There are cozy common areas inside where you can play a game, read, and visit as you enjoy a snack or beverage from a great selection offered. In the backyard is a sweet giftshop with a great selection of gift items for yourself of those on your gift list. The highlight of our stay was breakfast! MarylLou is a wonderful cook and puts a lot of love and pride into her cooking. She goes to the local farm market and buys the freshest fruits, local maple syrup, and freshly roasted coffee. The three mornings we were there, each day had a different menu. We enjoyed fresh fruit parfaits, with peaches, bananas, raspberries and melon, yogurt with granola, eggs cooked to order, blueberry pancakes, rosemary potatoes, French toast with real maple syrup, homemade poppyseed muffins and my favorite, eggs Eggs Benedict. Her hollandaise sauce is the best! We enjoyed our stay so much. The Inn surpassed my expectations in all ways. I highly recommend The Cobblestone Inn B&B. Five...

It was PERFECT for us! It is not as ritzy as the fancy upstairs rooms, but is so cozy - we LOVED it. It is more like a rustic and charming camp cabin (burlap covering the ceiling pipes, a pretty screen around the furnace, etc), but we found it a great fit for us. She has it very well appointed with things such as window black-out coverings, fans, bedside lights, and much more. We were the only ones down there, but it would also be perfect for a pair of couples as there are two bedrooms. In addition to the bedrooms there is a large livingroom / dining area, a large bathroom, and a tiny kitchen corner. Also nice was the private exterior entrance since we had a dog. Obviously, there is also an entrance into the main upstairs with easy access for those amazing (!!!) breakfasts and the rest of the common areas. The yard and porch of the Cobblestone Inn is also beautifully arranged for visiting and just plain enjoying life, including a fire pit...
