Minimum standards for any star is clean and comfortable.
I will address the "comfortable" issue first. Each of the queen beds have a permanent 4-6 in dip near the center or just off center making sleeping on them without waking up with back pain unlikely. About feeling comfortable being here at all... many "down on their luck" people skulking about at all hours... about a dozen cars in lot without plates with weird markings parked in fire zones, some have service tag like hangers and such, not sure if it's overflow from local service shop or impound lot, either way should not be stacked all around the fire hydrant.
Cleanliness: Spare battery half under base of table. Ball and plastic fitting for some accessory under one of the beds. Mirrors looked like cleaning people have confusing cleaning with a run by wiping, streaks and water spots apparent. Entire TV and its screen had old sticky residue that seemed most likely the result of a full laugh from a mouth full of Pepsi aimed straight at the TV and never wiped off. We blackened about five cleaning wipes on flat surfaces alone. After driving over 10 hours I was really looking forward to a hot bath but after seeing the colorful tub, I will not be sitting or lying in it, but will shower in it with my shower shoes on. Shoes stick a little bit to some parts of the room's carpet. It was evident that the room was attended to, but the cleaner was obviously setting land speed records, more concerned about time than task. The inside of the individually plastic wrapped cups looked clean 😉
State of repair: Lamp shade barely hanging on to top of light post thanks to a MacGyvered hook pierced through the shade and hooked to the broken frame to keep it hanging, albeit cockeyed. Wall paper trim peeling up all around the room (probably thanks to the glue for the four inch wallpaper being slopped up to 12 inches too low in some cases). Wall paper in bathroom also peeling up in several places. Hole in back of bathroom door. Hole in bottom of dresser drawer. TV remote partially intact and partially working. Poorly cut and fitted laminate flooring with noticeable gaps around edges throughout lower floor. See comment about the caldera beds.
Sadly this is not complete listing of issues. This hotel has only three things going for it; location, price and that they allow pets. It does not qualify for any stars, but I could not continue without...
Read moreHonestly a 1 star is generous. They refused to allow early check in while arguing with another customer over a late/missed reservation. No public restrooms.
One of the beds has a significant divot on one side. I'm talking a huge ditch on one side of the bed. Like someone layed in the bed on one side for a year without moving kind of a hole.
We reserved two rooms with queen beds and got a room with a king and a room with two full beds.
The wallpaper is peeling off the walls, bathroom grout is discolored. Shampoo and conditioner dispensers don't work in the bathroom. The sink doesn't turn on past a trickle in one bathroom. The other bathroom has a significant leak in the tub from the spikot. The curtains have slash marks repaired my masking tape.
Honestly I think this may have been the scene of a grusome murder where they paid the nightly bill for a year to leave the room alone.
Electrical plug ins are largely lacking.
No wifi.
Rooms smell of cheap dollar store cleaner.
Hair dryers dont work.
Half the hotel is the Windom hotel where the pool and workout facility are.
Hardly "America's Best" reading the reviews they are all accurate and the owner who responds obviously has no idea what their flea bag hotel is actually like. Obviously they could care less about the cleanliness of the hotel as apparently nothing has changed over the months that reviews have been left. Their "high standard of cleanliness" equals that of a urine soaked alley with junkies shooting up in the dark recesses. I surely hope that those in corporate have been alerted to the sweat/other bodily liquid stained reputation this location is tarnishing their name with. I will definitely be sending photos and letters to corporate as it's clear the "local owners" could honestly care less.
In complete honesty if this hotel wasn't shared with the Windom my recommendation would be total and...
Read moreWhen I arrived the first issue I had was just finding the proper entrance, which I wish I had never found. Sketchy people just hanging around what turned out to be the entrance. I checked in although it was obviously less than clean and somewhat scary looking. I received my room key and made my way down the corridor that resembled a prison hallway more than any type of welcoming inn. Cinderblock walls and stark metal looking doors. The first thing I noticed when I reached my room was the very large pizza box with receipt poking out on the floor in front of the door. It concerned me, but I figured that maybe the pizza guy delivered to the wrong room. I used the key given to me and opened the door. I immediately closed the door as I found that the TV was on and I spotted a pair of socked feet at the end of the bed. I then hurried to the front desk and informed them that someone was already in that room. The desk clerk said he would check it out. I stepped outside to gain my composure and when I reopened he tried to hand me the room key saying that he checked and nobody was in there. I said that there most certainly was. He replied that they "aren't in there now. " (Seriously???) I asked for a refund and that I would not be staying there. He said I would need to go through booking. com for a refund as that was how I made my reservation. (I made my reservation directly through the website, not booking. com). Shaken and in disbelief I left the facility with no disbelief. When I returned home from my trip, I found that my card had not been charged. So fair warning!! The hair on my neck was standing up when I entered and I should have...
