I left the hotel the first night of a two night stay. Not only was there no staff available, I was greeted at check-in by an envelope with my name on it at the front desk. I had to call the hotel to reach any staff and they had to refer me to someone that had to call someone else (probably in another country) to get the authority to do anything. Very creepy. The room was filthy. The walls were tattered and stained, the AC barely worked, the room and carpet smelled of urine and mildew, and there was evidence of bed bugs on the sheets. The bed itself was as hard as a board, possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever almost slept in since Iraq. The wifi was unsecured, so good luck with that. I didn't even want to touch anything in the room and eventually had to vacate out of disgust. Weekend ruined. As it stands I am having great difficulty reaching anyone to talk to about reimbursing me for this insult to me as a patron. EDIT: Notice how the 'owner' can respond to Google reviews but not a customer calling about a terrible stay. I still have not heard back and have contacted the Chamber of Commerce in Brandon and The BBB of VT. You may not want to give me a refund but it will be my life's work making everyone aware of your scummy hotel scam.

I was here in their low season. This is a very old building that’s on the National Historic Register. It must be a lot to maintain, and it seems they are sort of holding it together. When I got into my room it was about 45F inside. There are new heat pumps in all the rooms that are great, but mine wasn’t in pre-arrival so I froze for a while until it warmed up. The rooms are quite basic, but clean. The wifi isn’t great and my room didn’t have a desk so I had to do some work awkwardly from the bed, but it was fine. If you need to work, request a room with a desk. Self-check in worked fine, although my door struggled to lock when I left the room. The sensor didn’t always work and it threw the deadbolt at the wrong time. The lobby had an overwhelming smell of what resembled Axe deodorant the first couple days , but thankfully that faded. Breakfast is free and ready early. It was a basic spread of bagels, breads, cereals and fruit. Coffee and tea are available all day. The staff is nice, but I only saw 2 people there the whole time. Overall it’s a pretty, basic, old lodge with a lot of character that is great for families. Not fancy but it is charming!

The town of Brandon was quiet, quaint, and fairly convenient to stay at. The building is historic, so don't expect a super modern room; it feels like a New England Bed and Breakfast. The room was comfortable and quiet enough, and the local places to eat were good for a quick breakfast in the morning. I stayed here for a few nights for an event happening in Ticonderoga. It was about about an hour drive through the countryside, but it went quick due to the beautiful scenery. Be aware if you are doing something similar, the GPS might default to try to take you across on the ferry. If you aren't wanting to do that, there is a bridge to the North you can take.

Upon check in we were met and welcomed very warmly by the woman at the desk. The northern hospitality was very nice to experience. After checking in we were assigned a room on the 3rd floor and were given rules about the "oldest functioning elevator" in the state of Vermont. Only employees were allowed to run the elevator because it has to be manually stopped at the floor. I totally get why. We were told to ring the bell to have someone come up and fetch us. It was an old doorbell located where an elevator button would be. After leaving this unique tiny elevator we found our room #315. We used the key which was an old fashioned real brass key to get into the room. It was not the room I had reserved online. I reserved a family room, which was supposed to have a king sized bed and a separate bedroom with a bed. I was interested in having a king sized bed and there was a small possibility of my son joining us and the room had the other bedroom so we could just add our son to the room and pay for him when we checked in. The hotel has a no refund at all policy if you cancel within 2 weeks of your reservation. It was a bit more money for that room but I chose that one just in case my son joined us. We opened up room 315 and found 2 full size beds on either side of the room. There was nothing quaint about this room. There was a small box heater on the floor, a desk that wouldn't open with a radio on it and a chest of drawers. The bathroom was strange in that you had to step up into it and step down out of it. I don't know why it is like that, I found it difficult to remember to step up especially during the night without a light on and I tripped on it...

The inn photos are very misleading, the room we got was a king room and was definitely not pictured in the hotels images. We were supposed to receive a text with room and combination to get into the room since the front desk is not always manned. We did not receive the text but there was someone at the front desk so we got assigned a room that was on the second floor, that room had a do not disturb sign on it. I went back to front desk and he said the maids probably had not cleaned the room yet. We eventually did get into the room which looked as if they had taken a storage area and turned it into a bedroom, very disappointing after seeing photos on website. The room had a lump in the floor that looked like a piece of 3/4" plywood was nailed to the floor and carpeted over creating a trip hazard going into and coming out of the bathroom. The window unit air conditioner was not sealed and heat came in around the seal. Bathroom was cleaned, I know this because they left dirty cleaning supplies on sink. The elevator can only be operated by staff, when the desk is manned. Pity the person on the fourth floor if no one is available for elevator. New door locks were installed, just cut a hole in trim and never bothered to replace trim. I asked for another room but they said they were full so we could not move. We booked three nights but left after one, they said I would have to pay for two nights. My invoice in the mail charged me for all three nights, I contacted Veronica and she said after you check out there is no way to refund money. Nobody was at desk to check out with just a sheet to write your room and...

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Vermont – The Brandon Inn

Nestled in the picturesque town of Brandon, Vermont, this historic inn has old-world charm, warmth and comfort. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with excellent hospitality that made me feel right at home.

The inn itself is stunning—filled with beautiful antique furnishings, elegant décor, and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean, and had a charming vintage feel. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a day of skiing and traveling.

Beyond the inn, the location is ideal for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Vermont. It’s just a short stroll to the town’s quaint shops, art galleries, and delightful cafés. Plus, the surrounding Green Mountains provide endless opportunities for hiking, biking, and skiing.

Sid, the owner, went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. His attention to detail, friendly demeanor, and genuine passion for hospitality make this place stand out. Whether you're visiting for a family vacation, or even a wedding (the space would be an awesome venue), The historic Brandon Inn is a perfect choice.

I can’t recommend this charming inn enough. If you’re looking for a quintessential Vermont experience filled with warmth, history, and impeccable service, The Brandon Inn is the place to be. I’ll definitely...
