We took an evening away from life and visited the Lilac Inn, a delightful and historic old style mansion filled with eclectic antiques just looking to be discovered... Our room while nicely done and comfortably appointed, was around 90+ degrees and it only cooled down modestly by bedtime even though we actually checked in early and opened the windows. Part of the issue was the weather that changed abruptly and was addressed by Shelly at check in, that the air conditioners hasn't been installed yet for the season... And secondly, the thermostat was pegged at like 80-90 degrees with the baseboard heat in the bathroom ripping hot! This required up to sleep with no covers and leave the ceiling fan on high all night. The temperature was manageable that way, but I couldn't escape the feeling of sleeping in a wind tunnel. Breakfast in the morning was a tasty offering of fresh fruit, coffee/tea and juice, a sweet bread (chocolate swirl), and a choice of blueberry pancakes, an only work mushroom, cheddar, and spinach, or eggs cooked to or liking with toast and a choice of either homefries or bacon. I chose homefries and they were tasty, but I wish both homefries and bacon had been included...

We stayed in the Grand Suite/"Brides Chambers" for 2 nights and loved it. The bed was comfortable, the spacious room was immaculate, and with the romance package we were greeted with a bottle of champagne, chocolates, a cheese and fruit tray, and two plush bathrobes. Our favorite feature was the fireplace in which they provided us with wood (and some additional at our request, thank you!) There was also a beautiful walk in shower, dual showerheads and an additional attachment with corner seating. Great attention to detail. The building was apparently originally built in 1909 and is rich in history. Besides the beautiful architecture, we wish we would have checked out the main floor more. The breakfast came included and we were greeted with fresh fruit (at the end of December!!), warm coffee cake, and our choice of eggs any style, or blueberry pancakes. Everything was wonderful. Shirley and Doug were so very accommodating. We normally stay closer to the killington area to ski but the 40 minute drive to the slopes is well worth it. We would ABSOLUTELY return.

A Wedding Weekend to Remember! The Lilac Inn is a magical place in a cute historical town in Vermont. The owners Shelly and Doug and their staff made our wedding weekend a memorable everlasting experience. Ashley was so helpful in planning and helping us stay organized with Shelly. We had a wedding of 107 in the ballroom with the ceremony outside. They are dog friendly so our dogs were part of the ceremony. Our bridal party and parents were able to stay at the Lilac Inn on Friday and Saturday nights, which made setup so easy along with having everything in one location. We also decided to get our First Look photos done here in the back gardens where there's a pond and beautiful gardens. We cannot thank them enough, and we cannot wait to come back to visit and take weekend getaways for years to come.

My husband and I were married at the Lilac Inn on July 13th 2019 and we are beyond thankful and happy to have chosen this beautiful venue. I know that we will still be reminiscing about our wedding weekend there for decades to come. Shelly and Doug who are the innkeepers are amazing hosts! They are extremely welcoming and kind. Dan and I knew from the minute we first visited the Inn and met Shelly and Doug that this was the place we wanted to have our wedding. The pricing is clear and all the menu options can be customized to your desire. Shelly, Doug, Susannah (our personal coordinator) and the entire staff were professional, attentive, flexible, patient, and very personable throughout the planning process, rehearsal dinner, and the wedding weekend. It is great to know that whether you have over two hundred guests or under one hundred, the Lilac Inn can accommodate for your party. We had eighty-six guests and the inn still made it feel like an intimate gathering. The whole staff was excellent at making any concerns or worries about timing or last minute changes melt away with their reassurance and support. We could not have chosen a more caring group of people to help make our dream come true.

Not only were the people spectacular, but everything from outside to inside the inn was gorgeous. The gardens and grounds were fantastically kept and had beautiful flowers throughout the scenery. The patio was a splendid place for our guests to catch up and relax whether they wanted to be in the shade or in the sun. The nine rooms were clean and stunningly decorated. Each guest had their own bathroom which was perfect for couples and families. There were coffee and tea tables located along the upstairs corridors for the wedding party and family throughout the weekend stay. The entire inn and each guest room gave a classic elegance atmosphere while still maintaining a Vermont home feel. The fun Tavern, lovely ballroom, and the outstanding and delicious food were the popular talk of conversations that made for an incredible experience. Shelly and Susannah made sure any guest that had dietary restrictions received meals that were gluten free or vegan. Shelly also helped us with making sure the band that we had hired, had the space and correct outlets for when they performed in the ballroom. Shelly and Susannah were with us from start to finish and everything went effortlessly and smoothly. Dan and I knew we loved our event but we are even more thrilled and appreciative that our guests enjoyed it just as much. We treasured every second of our celebration! I would highly recommend the Lilac Inn for your wedding venue or any special occasion. Shelly and Doug and their staff are simply the best, and are masters at making...

We were really charmed by the Lilac Inn for so many reasons. We had never been to Brandon,VT and fate put us there this NY Eve. The town itself is so quaint with some great restaurants right on the main road. Pulling into the Lilac Inn the charm leveled up even more as the home is meticulously maintained on the outside and when you step in - equally as beautiful. The innkeeper met us at the front desk and she was kind and genuinely happy to chat. The room was comfortable and there was firewood waiting for us so that we could have a fire in our room. such a nice touch for the winter nights. You never know what breakfast will look like in an Inn - they are always varied — this one did not disappoint. I am an early riser and when i stepped out to get my coffee from the hall - it was hard to not smell the fresh baked goods! I do not eat Gluten so I was pretty excited to see that one of the baked goods was gluten free (and delicious!!) I thought the fruit and baked good was breakfast but was pleased to then know they offered a full breakfast and my omelette was spot on. Try this place out - whether it be for a relaxing weekend or for a family event (they host weddings and different things there). We left thinking about when the next time we could come will be. what a way to ring in...
