This was my third time staying at this hotel. I returned due to positive experiences previously. And some things were still good. The rooms were clean, and the free breakfast was generally tasty and generous.||||But this time, things were a little off.||||The hotel has become a bastion of open marijuana consumption.||||I’m not opposed to people doing what they want in private.||||But openly smoking a joint in front of the lobby door should be prohibited.||||I don’t want to smell like weed.||||And it wasn’t just once. I saw it another time and smelled it a third.||||On top of that, I smelled it again in the hallway outside my room.||||If it’s happening this much, then the staff knows it’s going on.||||I mean, the lobby door is right next to the check-in desk. The staff can see what’s going on outside and probably smell it too.||||I didn’t expect to be staying in a “420 house” for this visit.||||I will have to rethink my hotel choice when I next visit this town.||||There were a few more issues that arose during the visit.||||At check-in, the woman at the desk had an AirPod in one ear while checking us in. There may be a legitimate work-related reason for doing so, although I think it was more likely she was taking a personal call or listening to music instead of fully focusing on hotel guests.||||Our friends staying in the same hotel on the same nights found that the cleaning staff didn’t provide towels after cleaning the room, leaving my one friend wet and naked while his wife scrambled to find the housekeeping staff to obtain such towels.||||The morning of check-out, the breakfast was late to open. Since we were departing as soon as we ate, it meant our departure was delayed. Additionally, the legendary cinnamon rolls weren’t hot, just barely above room...
Read moreWe were checked in cordially and quickly. We had a king bedroom on the third floor. It was quiet for the most part - only heard people next door when we were in the bathroom. The temperature was perfect in the room. The bed was comfortable and we had two good nights’ sleep.
We had a little problem with the flat screen tv. Not sure if it was the batteries in the remote or the tv itself. We finally got it to stay on for our first night in the room. In the morning and the next night it was a little problematic, but it did finally stay on when we wanted to watch something.
Breakfast staff was friendly and so helpful. We really appreciated these ladies. We liked the eggs, biscuits and gravy, and chewy bacon. We always like orange juice (Husband) and cranberry juice (me) in the morning and they have both here. One morning they had bananas, so I had one. But they didn’t have my favorite cereal - Raisin Bran. The next morning there were no bananas, but I did enjoy my Raisin Bran.
The pool looked nice, but we didn’t use it. A large family enjoyed it the first day we were there, and another family enjoyed it the second day. Didn’t want to disturb their fun.
Elevators were large and fast. We appreciated both! Ice machine worked perfectly. We needed ice for our water bottles to keep hydrated on the hiking trails.
Overall, this was a good stay and we will return...
Read moreThis property is a newer property. Parking is limited, as we noticed some people parking in a strip mall parking lot. Employees at the front desk were sitting and barely acknowledged guests. Room upgrades with status not honored. The property is newer, but the pool is outdoors. You would think in the mountains an indoor pool would be more used. Pool faces houses behind property, so you can’t even look at scenery.
Went to room, and am thankful we were on the side facing mountains. Room on other side of property faces houses directly behind the hotel. Room did have a lounger to look at mountains, which was awesome and unexpected (and a fantastic view of the mountains on the upper floor). During our stay, Dove products were used for toiletries. Hair in the shower, and cleaning fluid in toilet. Plenty of standard towels.
King room was spacious. Bed was comfortable. TV uses Dish with limited channels. If it rains, you will not be able to watch. IPhone did not connect to TV for streaming (TV kept erroring out).
Breakfast was your normal Holiday Inn Express breakfast. Pastries were not warm. Selection was limited. Seating was plentiful.
This hotel was ok for the area. If you are looking to just find a place to sleep for the night in the mountains, this will be ok. Would recommend if you couldn’t find a hotel in Asheville or...
