I usually stay at this hotel when I head to Delaware, or when I am going farther North and use this as a stopover place. It is very conveniently located, just off I-95, and it is clean and comfortable. But it has declined in some ways that are disappointing. Visitors used to be given a complimentary bottle of water upon arrival; they no longer do. Also, the hotel used to have copies of "The Wall Street Journal" in the lobby, but those have gone as well. On this particular visit, my room--a King size bed--had only two outlets for electronics: one on the desk lamp and one on the far side of the bed. So I had to switch among plugging in my laptop, cell phone, and Kindle. ||(NOTE: I was given an "upgrade," meaning a King-size bedroom with a small sofa. The regular King size bedroom on a previous visit didn't have this problem--nor have the double bed options. So the upgrade wasn't helpful at all.)||Further, the coffee pot wasn't plugged in. The cord is short, so I unplugged my laptop from the table lamp to plug in the coffee pot. Then I had to crawl under the table to plug my laptop into the power strip against the wall. Very inconvenient.||The breakfast times have also changed. Breakfast used to be 6-10 AM, which is convenient if you want to get on the road early. Now it is 6:30-9:30 AM. Further, on weekends, the breakfast is 7-10 AM.||These details may seem minor, and they won't necessarily deter me from continuing to stay here. However, I am now checking out other...
Read moreWhenever we travel, we always look for Comfort Inn & Suites as we have found them to be very comfortable and dependable. Our recent stay in Newark was very pleasant. We arrived in Newark around noontime and decided to stop and see if a room was available, even if check-in is not officially until 3:00 PM. The person I dealt with was very polite and found an available room, which we really appreciated. The room was spacious and clean. The bed, particularly, was very attractive with spotless white linens and a decorative blue throw a the foot of the bed. Along with many others, I don't care for bedspreads. The room has a desk, comfortable chair and good lighting. The closet was more than adequate. The bathroom was sparkling clean; there was an abundance of fluffy white towels on the shelf under the vanity. There are two breakfast rooms: one has the food display, and the other has the coffee/tea service. The morning we were there, we had delicious scrambled eggs and crisp bacon. The gentleman who was responsible for the breakfast areas stirred the eggs occasionally and checked to see if anything needed to be replaced. These rooms, like our bedroom, was very clean: counters had been wiped of spills, tables were cleared, nothing on the floor. The check-our process was very swift and efficient: the bill was placed under our door and all we had to do was turn in our keys. We enjoyed our stay and will...
Read moreWe did not make advance reservations, as our plans were too indefinite. When we arrived in early afternoon, we were checked in quickly by the very pleasant front desk staff. Even though we arrived early, without a reservation, we were able to go to our room immediately. Although the room was smaller than older properties, it was attractively furnished and included a work desk, mini refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave as well as a large flat-screen TV. The bathroom was extremely clean and there were more than enough fluffy white towels. The hallways were clean and bright, and the elevator was very quick. There are two dining rooms. The food buffet was in one room and the extensive coffee setup - various coffees, teas, creamers - was in the adjoining room. The breakfasts were very good and included scrambled eggs and bacon one day, omelets and ham the next day. The selection of cereals, pastry and fruit was very good. We particularly enjoyed the fresh melon. We did have one complaint about breakfast: the juice machine was located in the food room and cups for juice were with the coffee. It would make more sense to have the juice cups next to the juice machine, not in the next room. Other than that, we had not complaints and would not hesitate to return to this property and would definitely recommend...
