Buena Vista Campground — Hotel in Buena Vista Township

I wish no stars was an option. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I used to camp here as a kid with my parents all the time and remember it being one of the best parts of my childhood. Less then ten years later and this place is now a dump. The entire place has been neglected. The beach the used to be on the lake is now covered in grass and there is a sign that reads 'no swimming'. When we came to check in there was no one around, all doors were locked and when you called the office numbers the answering machines read to you that they were open until 7pm. It was 5. We had to wait around until the emergency number I had called finally called me back and turned out to be maintenance. They instructed us to just go set up and come back to the office in the morning. The water went off early the next morning and was off all day long. We couldn't wash dishes, brush our teeth, shower or refill water bottles. The only thing to do here is go to ththe pool which is closed by 5pm. We also had no fire pit ring when we showed up either and were never given one by the campground. We ended up asking for a refund and leaving. The bathrooms are a wreck and the roads are covered in potholes. There is nothing good about this place which is a shame because it used to be such a wonderful campground and I used to look forward to...

Website says under new management so I kinda ignored older reviews not knowing when the new management took over. First the good, The sites are super large, probably double anywhere else and are adequately shaded. The pool looked really nice and that's the good. The pool hours were short fow a non life guarded pool. We were out during the day and home around dinner time and the pool was closed. We stayed 3 nights on the third night we had electric issues with their breaker box and it threw the breaker no less then 20 times in 2 hours until we shut off the A/C. The campground is huge but not even half the sites were filled and most were seasonal and a lot appeared were permanent full time homes. The morning we left the sewer at our site backed up, so we went to the dump station. The dump station was backed up too and there was no water at the dump station. I went to the office and the woman did not seem surprised and never even apologized. She did call a guy who came promptly and apologized but said yes its backed up everywhere and yes the water at the dump station is broke. these are issues they know about, did not inform us of on check in and charged us the full amount. This place has a lot of potential. We stayed here for 2 nights with our small children, just a short weekend getaway. There were not a lot of other campers at all. It was very quiet. The seasonals around us were very nice. So nice that they warned us NOT to use the pool... which we didn't. Something else I didn't like, to use the pool we have to wear a paper wrist band... who wants to wear a friggen wrist band their entire stay?? That wasn't happening. The arcade was clean, out of the 8 games, only 2 didn't work. The lake was not to swim, they did have really cool hydro bikes, though. We went to the office to rent them, and no one was there. So we took it upon ourselves to go on them anyways. While on them some drunk guy on a bike rode up to us and told us that they were his boats and we needed wristbands to go on them. Oh well! No mini golf course either, they apparently don't know how to update their website. All in all, if we stayed at our campsite, it was very quiet. It was somewhat of a depressing place, and we won't be back until they do some improving to...
